There is a reason why we don't expand 30 minute shows to full length movies. It's hard to come up with that much solid content. Too much time between the funny scenes...
Story
The members of the Reno Sheriff's office go to a convention in Miami. However, (1) they cannot get in, and (2) the convention is "bio-attacked." Therefore, they are forced to become the active Miami-Dade police department.
The crime they solve (a power hungry deputy mayor with ties to a phony drug lord) is a worthless plot line. It would have been funnier to have them deal with various elements of Miami-Dade crime than actually have a plot.
Therein lies the problem. Reno-911 is funny because it really doesn't need a plot. The movie thought it did - and ruined the show.
Acting
Same old stuff. Watch the TV show, it's better and you save 90 minutes and a LOT of money.
Direction
Too many plot scenes spoiled the funny schtick that you find in the movie.
