For this new film, Dead Silence, helmed by atmospheric director Wan, the ever-focused Whannell has foregone taking a lead role, and instead has limited his work to behind-the-camera, co-writing the thriller screenplay with Wan. It is of note that Wan has only had producing and co-writing credits on the recent Saw sequels, so with his new film, the bankable director has a lot to live up to--especially where his fans are concerned.
