The success of director Matthew Vaughn (Layer Cake) is not just measured in his marriage to Claudia Schiffer. He is the man who recognized Daniel Craig as an up-and-coming movie star, long before Craig answered to the name James Bond, and this summer he has set out to do the same with newcomer Charlie Cox. Although Vaughn is well known as the producer of Guy Ritchie’s hit films, Stardust is only his second movie as a director and the first time Vaughn has co-written a script. We sat down with Vaugn to talk about the experience of directing a big budget film, working with a legend and why it’s important to fight for what you believe in, especially in Hollywood.

Claire Danes may be associated with serious films like Evening, The Hours, and Romeo + Juliet but those who think she doesn’t have a sense of humor have clearly forgotten Terminator 3. This summer Danes takes on the role of a falling star in the fantasy blockbuster Stardust, a movie that yet again proves that she is a fan on “fun.” Danes sat down to talk about the tricks of getting into a fantasy character, working with Robert De Niro and her biggest challenge yet – starring in Pygmalion on Broadway.

Michelle Pfeiffer may have taken a short break from movies, but this summer she is back with a vengeance. After tackling the role of malicious manager Velma von Tussle in Hairspray, she is now frightening audiences as Lamia, the evil witch looking for eternal youth in Stardust. We sat down with Pfeiffer, who couldn’t be less frightening in real life, and talked about why she makes such a convincing witch, how she keeps up with her kids and the kind of star that is about to enter her life this summer.

In Stardust, based on a novel by acclaimed novelist and comic book writer Neil Gaiman, young Tristan Thorne’s adventure begins in a pursuit of Victoria, the prettiest girl in the village, as he promises to bring her a fallen star to prove his love and eternal dedication. Lucky for him, his father is able to provide him with a magical candle that transports him wherever he wants to go, and within seconds he lands on top of Yvaine, a walking, talking meteorite. As Tristan journeys home, the grumpy star in tow, he faces trying obstacles, the most troublesome being Lamia, the evil witch who wants to eat Yvaine’s heart in order to regain her youth and beauty.
