After down-to-the wire negotiations with The X-Files creator-producer Chris Carter, the Fox network will feature the ninth season of the sci-fi series on its fall schedule. Fox, however, canceled Carter's X-Files spin-off, The Lone Gunmen, after one season.

Fox, which unveiled its fall lineup on Thursday, also will air three new dramas and a new sitcom.

HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 25, 2000 -- The days of playing sonny are over for Seth Green. Green, who of course portrayed Dr. Evil's smart-mouth son in Mike Myers' "Austin Powers" films, has inked a deal to join the likes of Billy Crystal, John Cusack and Catherine Zeta-Jones in "American Sweethearts," Daily Variety says.

The film follows a veteran publicist (Crystal) who is faced with the problem of promoting a film whose two leading stars are going through a messy divorce in real life.

Green will play an upstart publicist being groomed to replace the Crystal character.

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Feb. 15, 2000 -- Christina Ricci, star of such gloomy fare as "Sleepy Hollow" and "Buffalo '66," will put her experiences to work in her latest project.

Daily Variety says the indie siren has agreed to grapple with depression as the star and co-producer of a big-screen version of "Prozac Nation."

The movie adapts Elizabeth Wurtzel's 1994 autobiographical account of her lifelong bout with the disease. The New York writer graduated from Harvard and became a well-known journalist, but her crippling feelings once caused her to attempt suicide. Prozac, she said, was the lifesaver that helped her reshape her life.

Ricci's interest in the book sparked the development of the project. The film's set to begin shooting May 15 with "Insomnia's" Erik Skjoldbjaerg at the helm.
