NEW YORK, NY, May 15, 2000 -- Proving that sometimes PR mavens really do earn their fees, new producer on the block Elie (pronounced Eelee) Samaha, who moved in the mid-90s from careers in club-bouncing, dry-cleaning, and club-owning to film-making, has been getting loads and loads of ink recently.

Yes, the Elie avalanche has been a good job by flacks, but the media has also been responding to his good luck at having produced the surprise Bruce Willis/Matthew Perry hit "The Whole Nine Yards" and finally getting that cumbersome John Travolta vehicle, "Battlefield Earth," off the launching pad.

Within the past two weeks, Elie stories have run in publications like the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times. Suggesting that Elie doesn't have a heck of a lot to say, some of the same quotes were duplicated in both stories. And, appropriately, both laid out the producer's modus

HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 10, 2000 -- What a little war movie can do to a career. Colin Farrell, who got on the Hollywood radar with his performance in the war flick "Tigerland," has signed on to star in not one but two projects, Daily Variety says.

Farrell will first headline the drama "Phone Booth" for his "Tigerland" director, Joel Schumacher, in November. And then he'll segue to a courtroom drama flick, "Hart's War," where he'll play a POW who must defend a black soldier for murder.

The actor got the part in "War" after Edward Norton bailed on the project. The stellar cast for the film includes Bruce Willis and possibly Anthony Hopkins.

TAKE ME OUT TO THE BALLGAME: The Hollywood Reporter says that Dennis Quaid might star in the Disney flick "The Rookie." Based on a true story, the film is about a high school baseball coach (Quaid) who makes the major leagues at age 35.

HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 18, 2000 -- Being a big movie star just isn't enough for Bruce Willis. The "Die Hard" guy and his former agent turned business partner Arnold Rifkin have launched their own production company, Daily Variety reports today.

Christened Cheyenne Enterprises, the company -- based in Santa Monica, Calif. -- is financed with the two starters' own money. It boasts first-look deals with both 20th Century Fox TV and Hearst Entertainment Prods.

The production company is currently shooting "Bandits," with Willis, Billy Bob Thornton and Cate Blanchett in the starring roles and is in pre-production on "Hart's War," a WWII flick with Willis and Colin Farrell ("Tigerland").

"Cheyenne Enterprises was born out of the 17-year association that Bruce and I have enjoyed," Rifkin told Variety. "Our goal in this partnership is to establish a creative environment which wi

SANTA MONICA, CALIF., Feb. 13, 2000 -- A week after Leo's second coming, other big Hollywood names -- in the form of Ben Affleck, Bruce Willis, Meg Ryan and Diane Keaton -- are also coming out to play.

Making their nationwide debuts in the coming week are the Wall Street flick "Boiler Room," the mobster-gone-straight comedy "The Whole Nine Yards" and the sibling-rivalry antics of "Hanging Up."

Here's a rundown of what's up:

FRIDAY

"Boiler Room" (New Line) -- Giovanni Ribisi plays an upstart stockbroker freshly recruited for a job in a firm nicknamed the "boiler room." Ben Affleck, Vin Diesel and Nia Long co-star. (Wide release)

"Hanging Up" (Sony) -- Meg Ryan, Diane Keaton and Lisa Kudrow co-star as sisters who come together to care for their dying father played by Walter Matthau. (Wide)

HOLLYWOOD, Oct. 26, 2000 -- It's the end of an era for Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. Entertainment TV show "Access Hollywood" reported on its Wednesday night broadcast that the Hollywood supercouple has officially gone through with the big D. The divorce was reportedly finalized on Oct. 19, almost two years after the two separated in June 1998.

Willis, 45, and Moore, 37, were married in November 1987. During their 13-year marriage, they produced three daughters -- Rumer Glenn, Scout Laurie and Tallulah Belle. No word on whom will get custody of the three kids.

Willis' publicist declined to comment when we called. And our inquiries to Moore's camp were not returned.

Willis was last seen this year in the flick "Disney's The Kid," and Moore's last major theatrical outing was last spring's "Passion of Mind."

The clock is ticking down. There are only a few more weeks to catch up on Hollywood's end-of-the-world flicks before life as we know it goes to ... well, you know.

Don't worry about whether you're prepared for armageddon, though. We've done the research and stocked the shelter with enough apocalyptic flicks to see anyone through a nuclear winter.

So grab your sunscreen, head for the hills and remember the remote. It's time for the final countdown:

20. "The Omega Man" — Imagine your worst nightmare about the end of the world, and Charlton Heston probably suffers it in this adaptation of Richard Matheson's "I Am Legend." He's the last guy on Earth, and as luck would have it, there are zombies spawned from germ warfare trying to tear his guts out.
