--NYPD Blue's Rick Schroder has turned in his badge and gun.

Schroder announced Friday that he's leaving the hit cop series because he wants to spend more time with his family.

HOLLYWOOD, June 18, 2000 -- Remember when David Caruso left "NYPD Blue" in a massive firestorm of controversy to become a huge movie star? David Caruso "?

No, not the singer ... he’s an actor. He was on "NYPD Blue" before Jimmy Smits. No, seriously, there was a guy named David Caruso, and he was the star of the show. Remember?

Well, anyway, David Caruso returns to TV today in the made for cable nail-biter "Deadlocked" (8 p.m. EDT/PDT, TNT). Caruso plays the prosecutor in this courtroom thriller with a twist. Charles S. Dutton ("Roc," "Alien 3") -- one of the most convincing angry men in show business -- is the "twist." SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 19, 2000 -- Michael J. Fox has certainly proven that there's life after Parkinson's, but can the same be said for "Spin City" after Michael J. Fox?

The actor dropped a bomb in TV land Tuesday with his unexpected announcement to leave the hit sitcom "Spin City" at the end of its fourth season -- a decision, the actor said, that would allow him to better concentrate his efforts in combating the degenerative disease.

"After long and careful consideration, I have decided that following the completion of "Spin City's" fourth season (and the filming of our 100th episode), I will not be returning for a fifth year," said Fox in a statement.

"I feel that right now my time and energy would be better spent with my family and working toward a cure for Parkinson's disease. This does not mean I am retiring from acting, producing or directing, only t

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 20, 2000 -- Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have unwrapped their plans to co-star in "The Mummy 2," set to begin shooting this spring for a May 2001 release. The dynamic duo will reprise their roles as rugged hero Rick O'Connell and love interest Evelyn Carnahan.

Both actors had been expected to return to action after Universal received a commitment from "Mummy" writer-director Stephen Sommers six months ago. Also returning to the fold is co-star John Hannah. Daily Variety reports that it's his first $1 million deal.

Fraser's expected to receive somewhere in the $12.5 million range, up from the $5 million he collected for the first installment. The actor's most recent payday was $10 million for 20th Century Fox's update of "Bedazzled." The new story will follow the entombed terror as it resurfaces in London. The script reportedly includes a 9-y
