CBS, as befits the second-highest-rated TV network, is the second most stable network. CBS has announced that it will air seven new shows this coming fall, two more than top-rated NBC, The Associated Press reports. The seven new shows--five dramas and two comedies--for the fall primetime slate are, in airtime order: Bram and Alice, Still Stnading, CSI: Miami, Presidio Med, Without a Trace, Hack and RHD/LA.

Yes, as the Hollywood Reporter says, Michelle Pfeiffer and Sean Penn are both in talks to star in the project "Sam I Am," but the story is actually about a lawyer trying to win a custody case for a mentally disabled man.
And as you have no doubt guessed, Penn will play the man and Pfeiffer will play the legal eagle.
The project is aiming for a mid-January start in Los Angeles.

LOS ANGELES -- The "Green Mile" premiere Monday night was accompanied by all of the fantastical effects, glitz and star power a possible Oscar contender deserves.
Director Frank Darabont returns after five years ("Shawshank Redemption") to bring Stephen King's 1996 best-selling serialized novel to the big screen.
"This is really exciting," said Darabont. "It took me this long to make another movie. I was waiting to fall in love with a story again, enough so I would go through the anguish of directing a movie. Thankfully, Stephen King gave me exactly that story."
Set on death row in a Southern prison in 1935, Tom Hanks stars as Paul Edgecomb. In flashbacks, Edgecomb recounts his tour of duty watching over a series of convicted killers awaiting execution in the electric chair.

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 20, 2000 -- Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz have unwrapped their plans to co-star in "The Mummy 2," set to begin shooting this spring for a May 2001 release. The dynamic duo will reprise their roles as rugged hero Rick O'Connell and love interest Evelyn Carnahan.
Both actors had been expected to return to action after Universal received a commitment from "Mummy" writer-director Stephen Sommers six months ago. Also returning to the fold is co-star John Hannah. Daily Variety reports that it's his first $1 million deal.
Fraser's expected to receive somewhere in the $12.5 million range, up from the $5 million he collected for the first installment.
