HOLLYWOOD, July 7, 2000 -- ABC has announced it'll devote four hours to its coverage of the 52nd Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. We can't tell yet if this is supposed to be good news or bad.
The Emmys usually get three hours (well, three scheduled hours). This year's extra-special fourth hour will be devoted to a red-carpet preshow, a la the Academy Awards. No word if Oscar red-carpet vet Tyra Banks will be brought on board to ask Dennis Franz how he gets so hot like that.
Garry Shandling is already on tap as host of the main show to air Sept. 10.

SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 16, 2000 -- The 28-year-old stepbrother of "Titanic" superstar Leonardo DiCaprio is in a Los Angeles area jail today on $1 million bail. The allegation: Suspicion of attempted murder.
Adam Farrar, himself an actor, who appeared in the controversial kiddie-bank-robber indie flick "Pups," was arrested about noon Wednesday at a home in Marina Del Rey, Calif., after an alleged attack on his girlfriend, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says.
Leonardo DiCaprio Upon being taken into custody, Farrar told deputies he was Leo's stepbrother. While the familial factoid is true (Leo's camp confirmed as much today), authorities say they're not sure why Farrar offered that by way of ID info.
In addition to the attempted-murder booking, Farrar was also accused of making "terrorist threats" against his (unidentified) girlfriend.

The sequel to Charlie's Angels is looking to start shooting as early as spring 2002, producer Leonard Goldberg confirmed to Variety. "Depending on whether a strike happens, we should have the script in four to six weeks," Goldberg said. "We'll take it to the Angels for their perusal, and if they like it, Sony can sit down with them and make a deal." The film will reunite the girls--Drew Barrymore, Lucy Liu and Cameron Diaz-along with the director McG. Barrymore will co-produce with Goldberg.
