“Unnecessary” and “unrewarding” are two of the terms which come to mind when considering the merits -- meager such as they are -- of the third in the Underworld series.
Remember when Selene fell hard for human turned hybrid Michael Corvin in the first Underworld film? Great; well you can forget all about those two because they won’t be in the new franchise prequel; Underworld: Rise of the Lycans. Heck, they weren’t even born yet. Instead the film focuses on the Lycans revolution against the vampires as they rise up out of slavery and turn on their masters.
Although I, Robot is visually masterful and at times moving, it lacks emotion and depth because the connection between its characters, both human and robotic, is never fully explored.
The Chronicles of Riddick is a dazzling sci-fi epic that will have Pitch Black devotees marking their calendars for the third installment. But director David Twohy's sequel is unlikely to strike a chord with those unfamiliar with Riddick's world
