A number of major adult entertainment companies halted production last month (Oct10) after the unidentified star received the diagnosis, crippling the porn industry as studio bosses rushed to ensure the safety of film workers.
Executives at Vivid Entertainment have now confirmed production will restart next week (beg15Nov10) after the company's stars went through vigorous testing.
The firm's founder and co-chairman Steven Hirsch says, "We made the decision to halt production as the health and well-being of our performers is of utmost importance to us. We can now confirm that all performers who were on the quarantine list as a result of being exposed to the HIV positive performer have gone through two rounds of testing and the results are negative...
"We will, of course, continue to require recent test results for all performers in our movies and will continue to take all necessary precautions to assure their health and safety."
UPDATE: The Hollywood Reporter is now claiming that both Judd Hirsch (Independence Day) and Casey Affleck (Gone Baby Gone) are in talks to joint the production. If Universal Pictures, Brian Grazer and Brett Ratner hire anyone else, I don't know if they'll have any room left in that Tower.
Matthew Broderick is back on the big screen.
Deadline reports that the actor, who's spent much of his recent career performing on Broadway, just joined Tower Heist, the upcoming comedy from director Brett Ratner. He's now part of an interesting ensemble cast that already features Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda, Tea Leoni, Gabourey Sidibe, and Michael Pena.
Written by Ted Griffin, Jeff Nathanson and a host of Hollywood's most sought after scribes, Tower Heist tells the story of a Bernie Madoff-like character who is under house arrest in the luxury apartment atop a building. Broderick plays Chase Fitzhugh, a Wall Street guy who had his finances cleared out. Brian Grazer will produce the Universal Pictures release. Filming is set to begin next month in the Big Apple with an eye on a winter 2011 release.
With a stellar cast in place even before Broderick joined, his addition makes Tower Heist that much more promising. Let's just hope that Ratner doesn't screw it up.

Rhodes died last week (07Oct10) at a Los Angeles hospital, according to his daughter Laura. Further details regarding his illness had not been released as WENN went to press.
Rhodes was perhaps best-known for shaping 1970s U.S. TV crime dramas Ellery Queen and Delvecchio, which starred Judd Hirsch.
His other producing credits include TV shows Operation Petticoat and Mariah, and small screen films The Return of Frank Cannon and Captive.
Rhodes is survived by his mother, a son, two daughters, a stepdaughter and three grandchildren.
The pair previously vowed to fight plans to release an explicit film of their bedroom exploits after the footage was obtained by Vivid Entertainment boss Steve Hirsch, who branded the tape "extremely erotic".
Their lawyers fired off a cease and desist letter to Hirsch, ordering him to drop his plans, but the adult entertainment boss now claims he's agreed a deal to distribute the footage, and a source tells TMZ.com the pair was offered a payment in the "six-figure range."
Hirsch tells the website, "We are excited to finally distribute this amazing DVD. Not only is it extremely kinky for a celeb sex tape, Karissa is absolutely beautiful. And as for Sam, let's just say he's no 'Smallville.' This is sure to be one of our all-time best sellers."
Matthew McConaughey can’t undo the damage of his last few films - Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Fool's Gold, Surfer, Dude…the list goes on - but he can try to make us forget them. His plan? Ditching the RomCom circuit and diving into darker fare as the lead in Voltage Pictures’ new black comedy, Killer Joe.
Based off of Tracy Letts’ 1994 stage play, the story follows a full-time cop and part-time hired killer, as he carries out a plot hatched by a few greedy Texans to kill off the family matriarch for insurance money. Surprise, surprise - McConaughey will get to show off that famous slow, southern drawl.
Emile Hirsch, who’s bitten off a few hearty roles including supporting Sean Penn’s Harvey Milk and taking the lead in Into the Wild, will play the young greedy Texan to McConaughey’s Killer Joe. It’s really no surprise that he’d play the serious evildoer to McConaughey’s hired killer, since Hirsch has made a name for himself with a slew of serious parts, even opting for the somber side as the lead in Speed Racer. It looks like this role won’t take him too far away from that comfort zone.
Director William Friedkin brings his signature style of intrigue to the plate, hopefully redeeming him from a few recent stints as a guest director for two episodes of CSI: Crime Scene Investigation.
The big question lies with Killer Joe himself. Though McConaughey has graced the silver screen since he was scamming on high school girls in Dazed and Confused, he’s relied on his tan, abs, and two-time “Sexiest-Man-Alive” status to carry him for the last few years. Here’s hoping he brings the crazy – you know, that wide-eyed, maniacal gaze partnered with his jittery, overly-ecstatic delivery – and this Killer Joe may just be, well … killer.
Vivid Entertainment boss Steve Hirsch obtained footage of the couple's bedroom antics from "a reputable third party" and is seeking to sell the adult film, which he branded "extremely erotic".
Jones and Shannon vowed to fight the release and consulted their lawyers earlier this month (Sep10) in a bid to stop Hirsch profiting from their steamy sex life.
And now an attorney for the couple has sent a cease and desist letter to Hirsch ordering him to drop his sex tape plans, according to TMZ.com.

Vivid Entertainment boss Steve Hirsch has obtained footage of the couple's bedroom antics from "a reputable third party" and is seeking to sell the adult video, which he has branded "extremely erotic".
But the porn mogul will face a court fight from Jones and Shannon - the stars have consulted their lawyers in a bid to stopping Hirsch from profiting from their steamy sex lives.
He tells TMZ.com, "I understand that the guy from Vivid saw footage with Karissa and I in it. We have spoken to our legal team and they will be dealing with this ASAP."
It's not the first sex tape scandal the couple has been involved in - Shannon recently accused reality TV star Spencer Pratt of taking a home video from her property which "contains private material" involving the glamour model and her boyfriend.

Montana Fishburne took a drastic route to follow her famous father into the movie business and shot a porn film with Vivid Entertainment bosses.
The scandal surrounding the sex tape - and her father's disgust - has turned Montana into an unlikely star, and now Vivid boss Steve Hirsch wants her to shoot another porn movie. But Montana is hoping to give Hollywood a try first.
She tells The Hollywood Reporter, "They (Vivid) offered it (contract) to me, and I'm talking with them about it, but I haven't signed on to anything yet. I don't know if I want to do it right away.
"I'm actually getting a lot of mainstream offers. I want to pursue those opportunities and then come back to it.
"I can't be specific, but they (producers) are acting roles. I'm open to scripted and reality (projects). It just all depends on what the project is. If something truly interests me, I'll get super involved and want to make it happen. That's why I did this movie."
And, even though the sex tape has wrecked her relationship with her dad, Montana insists it was a good business decision. She has reportedly made upwards of $250,000 (£166,600) from the deal with Vivid Entertainment.
She adds, "I can't really talk about it, but I made some money. It's keeping me in the place I live."
Sad plastic fame-whore and generally damaged person Heidi Montag has agreed to sit down with Vivid Entertainment "Porn King" Steve Hirsch to talk about selling her sex tape with husband Spencer Pratt, TMZ has learned.
Hirsch will be flying down to Costa Rica - where Montag was recently photographed with her (ex?) hubby - to meet with the former Hills reality star and make her an offer on the tape, including a possible "back-end deal" if she refuses his initial offer. Sounds like great material for a sequel, if you ask me!
Ever since their supposed "breakup," speculation has abounded that the couple's well-publicized drama was merely a not-at-all-subtle and mostly pathetic attempt to garner enough interest to get the ball rolling on another reality show deal.
Either way, I'll leave it up to you to decide which is more heartbreaking from a human interest standpoint: a fake breakup, fake divorce, and fake battle over an alleged sex tape (involving a threesome with Playboy Playmate Karissa Shannon!) to get money and attention, or a real breakup that ends with the tragedy that is two people being degraded by the fleshy naked presence (shudder) of Spencer Pratt for a multimillion dollar payoff?
Everything about this is sad, sad, sad. Don't people know you can download celebrity sex tapes for free online? That's really the saddest part of this. Who are these hypothetical people who are going to pay money to see Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt having sex? Old people who don't know how to use computers? This is an issue of grave national importance.
Spencer Pratt revealed he is in negotiations to sell the footage of his wife having sex to Internet porn giant Vivid Entertainment last week (ends20Aug10), and now TMZ.com reports one extract features Hugh Hefner's girlfriend Shannon.
Sources tell the website Pratt came upon the footage while searching through boxes of belongings at his Malibu, California home.
The busty model tells TMZ.com that such a tape does exist - buts she doubts Pratt has it.
And, if he does go through with his plans to sell the sex film as part of a deal with Vivid Entertainment boss Steven Hirsch, she has threatened to sue.
At press time, Shannon had not made an official comment on the sex tape.
