Between the two of them, Ridley Scott and Orlando Bloom have picked up their swords for Gladiator, Troy and The Lord of the Rings trilogy. And that's the problem. If the intriguing but ultimately derivative Kingdom of Heaven had arrived before these recent period epics, it may have stood a better chance of enthralling us.
The Farrellys' endearing Fever Pitch might not hit it completely out of Fenway Park. But with the entirely likable and believable performances from its lead players, along with a real-life underdog baseball team that made history, it scores a triple.
If you have to sit through another adaptation of Peter Pan, this version is serviceable, if not original, with enough eye candy and enjoyable performances to make it worthwhile.
The Core doesn't rise above schlocky predecessors such as Deep Impact and Armageddon. The film's formulaic script is too predictable and the special effects are unimpressive.
