Hip-hop producer Swizz Beatz is determined to help embattled pal Dmx get his career back on track by focusing all his efforts on completing the rapper's new album. The Party Up (Up In Here) hitmaker, real name Earl Simmons, has struggled to stay out of legal trouble in recent years and was arrested earlier this month (Nov13) for the fourth time in 2013 alone, after he was pulled over at an airport in South Carolina for driving on a suspended licence. He was also charged with driving without insurance and driving an unlicenced vehicle.
The arrest occurred as DMX prepared to fly to New York for a comeback appearance with Beatz on U.S. daytime programme The Wendy Williams Show, but the interview and performance was subsequently scrapped.
Beatz has now spoken out to assure fans the rapper, who has previously struggled with drug issues, is doing well, and he insists the follow up to 2012's Undisputed will be worth the wait.
He tells MTV's RapFix Live host Sway, "Everything is DMX for me right now. It's my main focus because it's what started everything...
"He's been going through a lot of different things but... he's DMX! He's good; he's in good vibes. But wait until y'all hear this music though - y'all gon' really know how he is. We working hard on that and I can't wait. I can't wait (sic)."
Robin Thicke step aside - Pharrell Williams has found a new Blurred Lines partner in Alicia Keys. After Thicke ditched his producer pal for a raunchy rendition of the song at the MTV Video Music Awards with Miley Cyrus in New York in August (13), Williams hit the stage at the 10th annual Keep a Child Alive Black Ball benefit in the Big Apple on Thursday night (07Nov13) with the charity gig's leading lady.
Event founder Keys thrilled guests at the black-tie benefit when she teamed up with Pharrell for the big number and kept the fun going by running through the hitmaker's Daft Punk collaboration, Get Lucky, with him too.
She made this year's AIDS research benefit a family affair by posing for pictures with husband Swizz Beatz and their three-year-old son Egypt on the red carpet and then her man served as the house DJ for the Hammerstein Ballroom bash, which also featured performances from Carole King and Laura Mvula.

Did you know that some of your favorite celebrities have interests that are somewhat and/or completely unrelated to their careers? Shocking, we know. But they do! Producer Swizz Beatz likes to paint, Matt Damon is involved in clean water projects, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt has one of the coolest websites/online open collaborative production companies ever.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt, HitRecord
First of all, everything JGL does is pretty awesome. So when he got the brilliant idea to start a production company that literally anyone in the world can join, we should have known it would take off. HitRecord is a website where artists, writers, musicians, and anyone who has any kind of talent that they've parlayed into a project can submit their work. If the big man (who goes by 'Regular Joe' on the site) likes what he sees, you can get hired as a freelance worker and paid for your work. And if you just like to be around art and other artists, this website is one hell of a place to hang out.
Zooey Deschanel, Hello Giggles
Zooey Deschanel and her two best friends (Molly McAleer and Sophia Rossi) have a blog and it is as adorable and fun as you think it is. With a focus on women, they post about everything from DIY nail art to creative writing tips, to social issues. A lot of it is cutesy, but much of it deals with heavier issues, including the Malala Yousafzai story.
Jay Z, Life + Times
When we visit Jay Z's Life + Times website it kinda feels like we're hanging out with Hova himself. The site (which features lots of great work from writer, hip-hop critic, activist, and Jay Z's good friend dream hampton) specializes in sharing sports news, art news, fashion news, and of course music-related stuff. It's all very NYC...in fact, there's even a recent article on the Chelsea Market Cookbook.
Charlize Theron, Africa Outreach Project
Lots of celebrities do lots of great charity work, but Charlize Theron is legitimately and completely involved in this project. The Oscar-winning actress is very hands-on in the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS in Sub-Saharan Africa and in her native South Africa. We love that Charlize actively tweets updates about her project, and continuously promotes the work she and the folks in her organization are doing.

Alicia Keys and her producer husband Swizz Beatz recently left a New York woman surprised after they mistook her house for theirs - and entered with party guests. The unnamed renter of the house in the Hamptons was awakened by noises she heard in her kitchen and went downstairs to investigate.
A source tells the New York Post, "The woman's daughter, a recent college grad, and her friends had been pre-gaming (drinking before a party) earlier in the night before going out, so she assumed that the noise was that they'd all returned home."
"(Instead she found) a number of strangers, men and women, in her kitchen. She was startled."
However, the woman quickly realised her house guests were celebrities.
The source continues, "At first she was a little freaked out, but it turned out it was Swizz and Alicia and their entourage.
"They'd rented a house nearby. They were confused and accidentally entered the wrong house."

Alicia Keys and her husband Swizz Beatz celebrated their third wedding anniversary with heartfelt tweets on Wednesday (31Jul13). The happy couple poured out their feelings online for all their followers to see.
Beatz wrote, "Wow 2day make 3 years being married to my soul mate / partner / BFF/ wife/ sister. we never raised our voice to each other now that's amazing."
He added, "She love (sic) all of my kids like they belong to her that's what I respect and love the most cheers to My Queen and 100 plus more years!"
Keys replied, "Happy anniversary! The love of my life! N ur eyes (in your eyes) I c (I see) a lifetime N ur (in your) arms I taste A sweet & sacred place."
The No One singer also posted a picture of the perfect pair. Keys wed her man in Europe in 2010, when she was five-months pregnant with their son Egypt.
Superstars Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake turned up the heat in New York on Friday (19Jul13) by bringing out Alicia Keys and Timbaland to join them onstage during their joint concert. The Suit & Tie hitmakers, who are currently touring North America as the Legends of the Summer, had two special guests lined up for the Yankee Stadium gig with Jay-Z sending the audience into a screaming frenzy as he welcomed Keys to perform their chart smash hit, Empire State of Mind, in their hometown.
Timberlake also got into the Big Apple spirit by belting out a rendition of Frank Sinatra's city anthem New York, New York and he further delighted fans by introducing his longtime producer Timbaland into the spotlight for SexyBack.
Keys' husband Swizz Beatz, another of Jay-Z's frequent collaborators, was also in attendance at Yankee Stadium, but he remained backstage and shared a Twitter.com photo of the couple after the show, alongside the message, "Date Nite NYC Yankee stadium we out cheaaaa (here) (sic)".
Friday night's concert wasn't the first to feature a surprise guest - Rihanna made an appearance at the London kick-off for the Legends of the Summer tour last weekend (14Jul13) to perform Run This Town with the hip-hop mogul during the Wireless Festival.
R&B stars Alicia Keys and Maxwell are reuniting in the studio for a new duets album. The Empire State of Mind hitmaker invited Maxwell to join her on the ballad Fire We Make for her latest album, Girl on Fire, and it appears their musical chemistry has inspired the singers to record a whole project together.
Maxwell tells Billboard.com, "We got a thing musically. That's like my little sister. What's funny is Swizz (Beatz, Keys' husband) is the champion of all of it... She's someone that I trust... And I'm proud to say that I've known them 20 years almost."
Hip-hop superproducer Timbaland almost missed out on the chance to work with his longtime collaborator Jay-Z on his new album after the old pals fell out. The Way I Are beatmaker features in new TV advertisements for Magna Carta Holy Grail, with the commercials depicting him in the studio with Jay-Z, Rick Rubin, Swizz Beatz and Pharrell Williams as they discuss their ideas and tracks for the project.
However, Timbaland reveals Jay-Z almost didn't invite him to take part in the hitmaking process due to a personal slight following their last collaboration on The Blueprint 3 in 2009.
The producer refuses to go into detail about the issue, but suggests all was resolved between the two friends after he apologised.
During an interview on rap mogul Sean 'Diddy' Combs' new RevoltTV network, he says, "Jay and I fell out; I missed his 40th (birthday)... It was over petty stuff. It was more personal stuff and disagreements. It was not industry-related. It was personal and I was wrong...
"It (the fall-out) was low key, nobody know about this (sic)... But when you're real friends, you will disagree and not speak and come back together and realise that you're better together than apart."
