News anchor Bill Beutel died yesterday of undisclosed causes. He was 75.
Beutel hosted the A.M. America show which later became the ABC network's Good Morning America, and signed off with his trademark farewell, "Good luck and be well."
WABC president Dave Davis issued a statement yesterday, saying: "He proved you could be a tough newsman and a gentleman at the same time.
"He was never shrill, always measured, and universally respected--the original class act."
Beutel won several Emmy Awards during his distinguished career before his retirement in 2003.
