The Oscar-nominated actor passed away at a hospital in Shropshire, England on Sunday (02Jan11) after a lengthy illness and Hollywood has been left in mourning.
Ben Affleck, Bill Nighy and Daniel Day-Lewis have all paid tribute to Postlethwaite - and now Walters, who dated the star in the 1970s, has shared her own memories of acting icon.
She praises Postlethwaite as "the most exciting, exhilarating actor of his generation", adding, "He invented edgy. He was an exhilarating person and actor... I saw him in Coriolanus and it was the most terrifying, wonderful performance I have ever seen. The audience were privileged to see it."
Meanwhile, Spacey, who starred with Postlethwaite in The Usual Suspects, says, "He was a great man of the theatre as well and carved a unique life for himself in film. He probably wasn't appreciated as much as he should have been, but I suspect that the country will come to regard him as a national treasure.
"For the rest of the world he was a guy we could all understand, empathise with and be frightened by. We will all treasure his performances and remember him with fondness and enormous admiration."
British funnyman Pegg wrote on Twitter.com, "Woke up to the sad news about Pete Postlethwaite. One of our finest actors. First saw him at the RSC (Royal Shakespeare Company) in 1986. Owned the stage he did. RIP," while British comedian James Corden wrote, "Such sad news about Pete Postlethwaite. What an actor and gentleman he was."
The Gavin & Stacey funnyman has been dating Julia Carey since last year (09) and announced in September (10) they are expecting their first baby together in the New Year (11).
And Corden cemented their relationship with a romantic Christmas proposal, reports Britain's Daily Mirror.
A source tells the publication, "James has been plotting the proposal for four months and wanted it to be perfect.
"He had a ring specially cut... and put it in a box at the bottom of her stocking right next to the satsuma and chocolate coins. Jules was thrilled and burst into tears when she discovered it. It was all very romantic. She has accepted and they have flown to the Maldives to celebrate."
Corden hinted at his festive joy on Twitter.com, posting: "Happy christmas everyone. All the love... Now that's what I call Christmas 2010."
Lily Allen is also rumoured to have become engaged to her boyfriend Sam Cooper on Christmas Day, while Reese Witherspoon, LeAnn Rimes, Natalie Portman, Hugh Hefner, Ginnifer Goodwin and Jason Mraz are among the celebrities who have announced engagements in the last week.
The British chef has endured a turbulent 2010 which has seen his business empire struggling to recover from serious financial problems and hit with numerous lawsuits over allegedly unpaid bills and massive tax demands.
Ramsay also fell out with his wife's father Chris Hutcheson after the businessman left his post as CEO of Gordon Ramsay Holdings (GRH). Hutcheson is now suing his son-in-law for $3 million (£2 million) and the family feud has played out in the press.
But the star is refusing to let his recent family and business troubles affect his fun festive season - he and his wife Tana put on a united front by hosting a lavish dinner party at their London home this week (beg20Dec10),
Guests included the Beckhams, singer Bunton and her partner Jade Jones, and British funnyman James Corden and his pregnant girlfriend Julia Carey.
The Gavin & Stacey funnyman is expecting a child with Julia Carey, who he has been dating since last year (09).
Speaking about the happy news, the 32 year old tells Britain's The Sun, "We're both absolutely over the moon. We really couldn't be any happier."
The baby is due next year (11).
LESBIAN VAMPIRE KILLERS stars JAMES CORDEN and MATHEW HORNE have seen off competition from LITTLE BRITAIN's DAVID WALLIAMS and MATT LUCAS to be named the best comedy duo in Britain, in a new poll by online TV service www.SeeSaw.com.
The trio was among 15 heroes who received special Scout badges as the traditional boys' organisation celebrated its 103rd birthday.
The two funnymen have raised money for Britain's Sport Relief and Comic Relief charities by taking on gruelling challenges recently; Izzard ran 1,100 miles (1,770 kilometres) across the U.K. in 51 days last summer (09) and in May (10), Walliams completed a 1,000-mile (1,609-kilometre) charity bike ride.
Other recipients of the special badge included comic James Corden and pop band Scouting For Girls.
The Star Trek actor stepped on stage at the Glamour Awards in London to present a prize to Avatar actress Zoe Saldana.
But before he gave out the trophy, he addressed host Corden and berated him for giving the audience an unsightly view of his bulging belly.
He told the funnyman, "From where I was sitting, I could see your belly," while Cordon snapped back, "You could see my belly. I can see you dying right now," while Saldana also became involved in the dispute when she collected her trophy, telling Corden, "I like your belly but I'd like to see Sir Patrick Stewart dying on stage any day."
Corden then attempted to provoke the actor again by lifting his t-shirt to show the crowd his bloated stomach, adding, "Okay, can we get a taxi really quickly please. There's an old man going home.''
After the show finished, Corden admitted he was "disappointed" by the awkward quarrel with the star, explaining, "'I sound like my mum. I wasn't angry. I found it quite disappointing. You should ask him about it but I'm certain he's left.''
The Mamma Mia! star has spent several years cohabiting with Corden, since the pair became close after landing roles in the original production of Alan Bennett's hit play The History Boys in 2004.
Cooper, who has reportedly split from girlfriend Amanda Seyfried, has now purchased his own house on the same street as Corden's pad in London.
But he has so far refused to move into his new home - fearing he'll be too lonely without his friend.
He says, "He (Corden) used to live in my place. Now I've moved into his place and I think he is getting a bit sick of me. If he goes out and works all the time I do all the menial chores. I do the washing. Today I said, 'Darling, do you want your clothes in the dryer?' It's ridiculous.
"I'd miss him (if I moved out) massively because he is such a great friend. He always comes and sits on a chair at the end of my bed in the morning for a talk".

Corden is playing the servant Planchet.
The screenplay is adapted from the Alexandre Dumas novel by Andrew Davies and Alex Litvak. Anderson is also producing, along with Impact partner Jeremy Bolt and Robert Kulzer of Constantin.
The funnyman proposed to the 25-year-old beauty in January (10) and they are reportedly planning to walk down the aisle at London's Claridge's hotel on Saturday (15May10).
Walliams celebrated by inviting the cream of the British comedy scene to a meal at London's exclusive Nobu Restaurant, before heading to a nearby bar and later to notorious strip club Stringfellows, according to British newspaper The Sun.
Guests included Walliams' Little Britain co-star and best man Matt Lucas, U.K. comics Steve Coogan, Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr, James Corden, David Baddiel and Rob Brydon, and Australian singer Natalie Imbruglia.
