Foo Fighters fans have surpassed a crowdfunding target to bring the band to Cornwall, England for a show, marking the second campaign to successfully reach its goal in the U.K. Fans of the Everlong hitmakers launched a drive on Crowdfunder.co.uk on Monday (29Sep14) asking fellow enthusiasts to donate money in a bid to bring the band to Cornwall in the south west of England.
The organisers of the Cornwall campaign cite the county's "thriving music scene", and hope a visit from the Foo Fighters will "bring in the big names that we deserve to have visit."
Fans surpassed the $242,886 (£150,000) target in just three days, raising more than $254,632 (£157,191) with 53 days left to run.
The successful campaign comes days after fans raised enough money for a Foo Fighters gig in Birmingham, England. The trend was started weeks ago by a devotee in Richmond, Virginia, who was successful in securing a gig in his hometown.
Frontman Dave Grohl and his bandmates have yet to confirm if they will play the U.K. shows.
Fans of rockers the Foo Fighters have hit a Kickstarter.com target to bring the band to Birmingham, England for a show. Just weeks after a devotee in Richmond, Virginia was successful in securing Dave Grohl's group for a gig in his home city, thanks to a crowd-funding campaign online, Foo fans in the U.K. appear to have landed a special concert in the Midlands.
The campaign reached its goal of $240,000 (£150,000) on Thursday (25Sep14), with 54 days still to go.
Fans who donated upwards of $80 (£50) to the Kickstarter initiative secured a ticket for the potential show, which could now take place next year (15) as part of the band's European tour.
A venue has yet to be confirmed and Grohl and his bandmates have not confirmed they'll play the show.
Veteran British DJ Dave Lee Travis had a "propensity" to grope women and hoped his fame gave him "the perfect right" to abuse them, a court in London has heard. The former BBC Radio 1 stalwart, who was cleared of 12 indecent assault charges in February (14), is facing a retrial on three counts, and the hearing formally began on Friday (05Sept14).
The jury was told Lee Travis is facing two charges of indecent assault and one of sexual assault involving three different women between the 1980s and 2008.
One alleged victim claims she was groped when she was working on a theatre show with Lee Travis, another accuses him of groping her outside his dressing room before a chat show appearance, and a third is a journalist who says she was molested during an interview at the DJ's home in Buckinghamshire, England.
Prosecutor Miranda Moore, QC, told the jury at London's Southwark Crown Court, "We say that these incidents show that he has a propensity to lay his hands in a sexual manner on young women and that he is an opportunist... The defendant seemed to act as if he had the perfect right to grope."
Lee Travis denies all three charges.
The trial continues.

Beyonce's father Mathew Knowles is convinced speculation that her marriage to Jay Z was on the rocks was created to boost ticket sales for their joint tour.
The couple was hit with split rumours during its On The Run trek, which began in June (14), and neither of the stars spoke publicly to defend their six-year marriage or deny the reports.
Beyonce's mother Tina blasted the speculation, insisting "everything's perfect", and now the former Destiny's Child star's dad and ex-manager Mathew has accused promoters of encouraging the rumours to drum up interest in the concerts. He tells Texas radio station 104.1 KRBE, "I know, because we've done this from experience. There's a tour going on, so you sometimes have to ignite that tour. It's called a Jedi mind trick. The Jedi mind trick fools you a lot at time."
Mathew Knowles also alludes to the infamous elevator bust-up between Jay Z and his sister-in-law Solange Knowles in May (14), adding, "All I know is the Jedi mind trick. Everyone's talking about it. Ticket sales went up. Solange's album sales went up 200 per cent!"
The On The Run Tour concludes in Paris, France in September (14).

Chief Inspector Dave Parker says, "There is currently a scene watch in place and I would like to reassure those attending the festival that crime levels remain low and crimes of this nature are very rare.
"Officers are patrolling the site to support on-site security and if anyone has any concerns, please feel free to approach our officers to discuss these."
There have been 21 crimes including five alleged drugs offences and 13 suspected thefts ahead of the festival, which will feature performances from Arctic Monkeys, Blink-182 and Paramore this weekend (22-24Aug14).
Liam or Harry? Niall or Zayn? We can't forget about Louis. Who do you choose?! Believe me, it is a TOUGH decision. Why should we have to choose between 5 beautiful men? They're all equally wonderful. And they have accents. It's not fair to choose. But if you have to, I can help. After seeing them in Philadelphia on their Where We Are tour (Thanks Sony!) I have ample evidence to support each guy.
Here are your reasons, starting from youngest to oldest:
Harry Styles (2/1/1994)
He’s not afraid of being goofy, like at all.
He will PROPOSE to you if you show up to the concert in a wedding dress.
His dancing is a strange mix of wiggling his legs while pointing his fingers.
*** On August 13th, 2014, he took his headband off and it was AMAZING***
He will stop in the middle of a performance to read a book.
He spends a great portion of the concert just waving at fans.
He enjoys spraying water like this:
This lip bite:
He will sing someone else’s verse in a song and mess it up adorably.
He’s silly enough to recreate popular vines.
Niall Horan (9/13/1993)
He’s the only Irish band member and he will never let you forget that.
He’s got the best hand gestures out of the entire band.
Even Zayn can’t keep up.
Niall is actually a fanboy(girl) at heart:
He looks great holding a puppy.
He plays the guitar, a lot.
And it’s REALLY hot.
It’s easily one of the hottest things you’ll ever witness.
Honestly, this is all you should need to become a Niall girl/guy.
Actually, I’m sorry. This is what you need:
BIGGEST PLUS: This is still true.
Liam Payne (8/29/1993)
Liam does what thousands (millions) of people want to do...smack 1D butts.
Liam gets really into singing the lyrics to every song.
Liam is the god of wearing jorts.
Who knew jorts were even in again? Liam did, that’s who.
His eyes crinkle when he laughs.
He also laughs a lot when he’s on stage.
Cause he’s having an awesome time, obviously.
Liam knows exactly how to get a crowd jumping.
He can dance AND sing like Michael Jackson.
He is comfortable with his body, because he is PERFECT the way he is.
This song and dance combination:
Zayn Malik (1/12/1993)
He can hit notes so high, you’ll feel it in your bones.
He is very pensive. You two could have deep discussions.
This is what he looks like with his hair slicked back and holding a (fake) guitar.
He has an adorable little giggle/smile.
Here is that hair & giggled combined:
I’m so sorry if you’re a Zayn girl now and just fainted.
He actually listens to choreography very well.
His entire face, really.
Louis Tomlinson (12/24/1992)
His arm tattoos could make a saint swear.
His hair is so long now that he’s perfected the hair flip.
He’s got an adorable little smirk.
Even he knows he has a nice butt.
Just look at those eyes when he sings:
He can teach us a new style of how to vogue.
Did you choose one? Maybe these options made it harder on you. If you still can't decide, just be like me and say you're equally dedicated to all five members. One Direction started the U.S. leg of their tour in East Rutherford, NJ on August 5th and will be making some Midnight Memories around the country until October 5th.

A large 20 foot (six metre)-high mural of late British comedian Rik Mayall has been painted on the doors of the Harlow Playhouse in his native Essex, England. The portrait was created by local street artist Dave Nash, two months after the funnyman's death.
Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine gave Saxon fans a treat at the Bloodstock Open Air festival in England on Sunday (10Aug14) when he joined the veteran rockers onstage for a rendition of their hit Denim & Leather.
Bosses of Britain's legendary Cavern Club, where The Beatles were discovered, are heading for a court showdown over the venue's name. Owners of the underground concert hall in Liverpool, England are at war with chiefs of the Hard Rock Cafe chain over its branch in Boston, Massachusetts, which uses the name 'Cavern Club' for its games room.
The trademark row has been ongoing for 20 years, and now the owners of the Cavern Club in Liverpool, where The Beatles were first spotted by Brian Epstein in the early 1960s, are asking a judge in Florida to throw out the Hard Rock bosses' claim to the name.
Cavern Club director Dave Jones says, "It is absurd for a billiards room in Boston to be passed off as having anything whatsoever to do with the history and heritage of music's most famous club in the world."
Owners of the Hard Rock Corporation have registered the U.S. rights to use the 'Cavern Club' name at any of its branches, but bosses of the Liverpool venue have filed a lawsuit in Orlando, Florida, where the company is based, asking for the trademark to be lifted.
