Country star Hank Williams, Jr. will ring in 2014 as a winner - he will be honoured for his support of the U.S. military during his New Year's Eve (31Dec13) concert in Nashville, Tennessee. The singer, who has performed at various military bases over the years, will receive the Patriot Award from officials at the non-profit Operation Troop Aid (OTA) organisation as he headlines the Bash on Broadway show next month (Dec13).
OTA founder and executive director Mark Woods says, "I am extremely honoured to award Hank Williams, Jr. the 2013 Patriot Award. His art, legacy of family and Spirit of Patriotism is exactly why this award exists. He never forgot his roots and why we have the freedom we do in America."

The Lovely Bones star Jake Abel has wed fashion blogger Allie Wood. The 25-year-old actor exchanged vows with his fiancee on Saturday (09Nov13) in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Abel's Percy Jackson co-star Alexandra Daddario served as one of Wood's bridesmaids, and actor Kyle Gallner and model Cassandra Jean were among the guests in attendance.
Abel proposed to his new bride in Times Square on New Year's Eve (31Dec12) - he got down on one knee as the clock struck midnight and ushered in 2013 in New York City.

Veteran actors Michael Douglas and Mary Steenburgen endured a "nightmare experience" while filming new comedy Last Vegas after they were forced to repeatedly hop on a daredevil amusement ride for the shoot. The pair plays lovers in the movie and during one scene, its characters enjoy a date at the top of the Stratosphere Las Vegas hotel and casino on the X-Scream ride.
The tourist attraction shoots off the side of the building at high speeds and hangs in mid-air, giving people the feeling that they are at risk of falling from the edge of the tower, 866 feet (264 metres) above ground.
Director Jon Turteltaub made the couple shoot take after take and Douglas, 69, admits the rollercoaster-like experience, the world's third highest amusement ride, was a thrill he could have done without.
He says, "We had one nightmare experience at the Stratosphere... You get up there, the wind's blowing and this thing goes up and it goes ... takes off, right off the edge... and it holds there for a second, holds there and then boom! It drops. Oh man, it was horrible."
And Steenburgen reveals she struggled to sleep on the eve of the big shoot because she was so nerve wracked.
She adds, "We did it over and over and over. And the fact that they took us there the day before (to show us the ride) to calm us, I stayed up all night freaking out and then the day we shot it, it was 30 mile-an-hour winds so I'm like, 'Erm, excuse me? When do you cut it off (stop the ride)?' And they said, 'Forty mile-an-hour winds!' That's really close!"
Billy Joel will ring in 2014 at his first official New York gig since 2008. The Piano Man hitmaker, who has toyed with retirement in recent years, wowed fans at a last-minute warm-up gig for a series of European shows at the Paramount Theater in Huntington, Long Island earlier this month (Oct13), and left the stage hinting that he was planning other shows in his native state.
Now he's making devotees' New Year's dreams come true by announcing plans to perform at Brooklyn's Barclays Center on 31 December (13).
The holiday show will be his first Big Apple concert since he closed down Shea Stadium over five years ago.
The gig is a dream come true for Barclays Center CEO Brett Yormark, who admits Joel has been at the top of his wish list of performers ever since the new arena opened last year (12).
He says, "When we opened Barclays Center 13 months ago, Billy was one of the must-have artists for our building and we are thrilled that he will be ringing in the New Year on Brooklyn's biggest stage. New York City born and Long Island raised, Billy is an iconic New Yorker and we are looking forward to a memorable evening."
Joel stepped away from the concert stage in 2010 after undergoing double hip replacement surgery. He returned briefly at the end of last year (Dec12) when he stole the show at the 12-12-12 Hurricane Sandy relief benefit show at Madison Square Garden.
Bosses at Interscope Records are racing to release an official stream of Eminem's upcoming album Marshall Mathers 2 LP after the project leaked online on Wednesday (30Oct13). The rapper experienced a Halloween eve scare when a number of file-sharing sites offered up the record six days before its official release next week (beg04Nov13).
A spokesman for Interscope, Eminem's label, has revealed they're hoping to stream the album for fans on Thursday (31Oct13).
Four tracks from the album have already been officially released - the single Berzerk, Survival, Rap God and Eminem's collaboration with Rihanna, The Monster.
Troubled R&B star Chris Brown has checked into a rehab facility just a day after appearing in court on assault charges following a fight outside a Washington, D.C. hotel. The singer was taken into custody after allegedly lashing out at a 20-year-old man who was attempting to board his tourbus early on Sunday (27Oct13), and he appeared in court on Monday (28Oct13) to fight the charges. He pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanour and was released on bail.
And now it appears Brown has decided to seek help for his temper troubles - a representative has revealed he has checked into rehab to tackle his anger management issues.
A statement reads: "Chris Brown has elected to enter a rehab facility. His goal is to gain focus and insight into his past and recent behavior, enabling him to continue the pursuit of his life and his career from a healthier vantage point."
Brown was scheduled to headline a New York radio station's Halloween party on Tuesday (29Oct13), but organisers were forced to scrap the event.
The singer's anger problems began at the beginning of 2009 when he beat up then-girlfriend Rihanna during a fight on the eve of the Grammy Awards. Brown is still on probation for that assault and faces up to four years in prison if Los Angeles prosecutors feel his latest arrest violates his probation.
The Kiss Kiss singer and his entourage were also involved in a New York City club fight with rapper Drake in 2012 and a car park scuffle with Frank Ocean in January (13). He also trashed a backstage area and broke a window after a difficult TV interview with newswoman Robin Roberts in March, 2011.
Then, in June (13), a 24-year-old woman accused Brown of assaulting her after his show at a California nightclub. She alleged that he shoved her to the ground, badly injuring her knee. The accusation against him was later dropped.

Last week, E! News reported that Kate Moss and Johnny Depp were reuniting for Paul McCartney's newest music video "Queenie Eye." Though the couple (who dated from 1994-1998) never share a shot together, they do share the screen with a ton of other celebrities. Check out the video below and see if you can count the famous faces… it's next to impossible to get them all on the first try.
After a few viewings (and a few google searches), I counted 17 in total, though it's definitely possible there are more. Check below the video for all the celebs we spotted:
1. Depp2. Moss3. Meryl Streep4. Tom Ford5. Alice Eve6. Lily Cole7. Jude Law8. Sean Penn9. Chris Pine10. James Corden11. Jeremy Irons12. Gary Barlow13. Tamara Rojo14. Laura Bailey15. Tracey Ullman16. Sir Peter Blake17. Jack Savoretti
Phew, seriously, only Paul McCartney could pull this one off.
While McCartney has a history of using famous faces in his videos, such as Natalie Portman in "My Valentine," "Queenie Eye" goes to a whole new level in including celebrities from around the world. And while the the video is definitely impressive, it's special for reasons other than the wall–to–wall stars. Filmed in London's Abbey Road studios, the video is also where The Beatles' first single "Love Me Do" was recorded.
Though the star-studded grouping is already intriguing fans to watch, the song "Queenie Eye" will probably be a hit in its own right. The single, which is the first to be released from Paul McCartney's latest album New, has all the makings of becoming our favorite fall tune. And hey, there's no argument here, the 71-year-old has still got it.
Be sure the check out New which landed in stores Oct. 15, and listen for "Queenie Eye" on your favorite station, it won't take too long before it gets stuck in your head.
