Soul star Stevie Wonder is revamping his classic tunes for a new orchestral album he is working on with songwriting pal David Foster. The singer is hoping to release When the World Began next year (14) after recording tracks with a symphony orchestra in London.
The project will feature revamped hits, rarities and new songs.
Wonder tells RollingStone.com, "We got together (on) New Year's Eve and we worked out some things. I played some things in a different way and he (Foster) did some arrangements, and there's some new stuff that I wrote that never was released.
"One song that I wrote when I was 13 - Tony Bennett did it a long, long time ago, called This Town - I'm gonna do it on this album. And there's a song I wrote recently, called When the World Began. I wrote the words, like, last week.
"It is a lot of things that I have done, old material, but doing it a different way. I'm going to do about three or four new songs as well. We did Isn't She Lovely with the orchestra and I wrote another verse to it. And we did I Just Called to Say I Love You."
And the soul man is also working on a gospel album tribute to his late mother.
He adds, "(It's called) Gospel Inspired By Lula... I promised her I would do it. She always wanted me to do it before she passed away... We've been working on some songs and some ideas. So we're going to complete that as well.
"We're going to do some traditional gospel stuff, but I'm thinking about doing a gospel song in Arabic. I'm going to twist it all up in different ways, because I think everyone needs to hear the word of the gospel."
The lights of Broadway's theatres will be dimmed on Wednesday night (26Jun13) as a mark of respect to James Gandolfini. The actor, who died in Rome, Italy last week (19Jun13), enjoyed success on the New York stage in the 1990s plays On the Waterfront and A Streetcar Named Desire, and he was nominated for a Tony Award in 2009 for his role in God of Carnage.
The theatre district tribute will fall on the eve of the actor's funeral at the Cathedral Church of Saint John the Divine in New York City on Thursday morning (27Jun13).
Whitney Houston's daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown has reportedly been evicted from her apartment in Georgia. The 20 year old and her boyfriend, Nick Gordon, were allegedly booted from the property following a series of noise complaints from neighbour Joshua Morse - and the youngster made sure to give him and his wife a piece of her mind by leaving a nasty note on their doorstep on Tuesday (04Jun13).
The message, which Morse posted on his Facebook.com page, reads: "Thanks... You are s**t at the bottom of our shoe. Thank You for making a hard year harder.
"You are a miserable couple and always will be. You were honored to have us living above you and you couldn't stand such a young beautiful couple far more successful than you ever will be. I pray your misery doesn't rub off on your innocent little baby."
Morse, who has filed an official complaint about the rude note with the Alpharetta Police Department, tells local news station 11 Alive he had filed at least 10 different complaints against Brown, whose apartment was directly above his, and she has since handed in her keys and moved out of the complex.
Houston's daughter with Bobby Brown has been struggling to deal with the loss of her superstar mum, who drowned in the bathtub of her Los Angeles hotel on the eve of last year's (12) Grammy Awards.
She recently paid tribute to the I Will Always Love You hitmaker as she marked her 20th birthday in March (13), writing on her Instagram.com page, "I pray I'm growing into the phenomenal woman you always knew I'd become mommy, I love you and miss you immensely and I always will.
"You are my heart. You are my life. You are my everything. You are my motivation. You are me. I am you. We are one. Forever and always. I love you my lady."
Rapper Eve plans to move abroad when she becomes a mum, because she thinks there is more culture for her kids in Europe. The tough-talking hitmaker, who is on the verge of a major comeback, admits she has started making plans to settle down and reveals she will join other American stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Madonna and set up home in London when she has children.
She tells Complex magazine, "There is so much culture and history in Europe. We have culture in the U.S. but you have to look for it.
"A lot of the kids I've met in Europe are more mature because they've gotten to travel. In an hour, you can be in a different country. I'm going to be one of those crazy parents who wants her children to speak three languages. They're going to hate me, but they will love me for it in the end."
Queen star Brian May took the streets of London with thousands of animal lovers on Saturday (01Jun13) to protest a planned badger cull. The guitarist has led opposition to farmers and politicians' efforts to combat bovine tuberculosis, and he submitted a petition with 234,000 signatures to Downing Street demanding the scheme be axed.
Speaking at the protest on the eve of the start of the cull in parts of Gloucestershire and Somerset, May said, "If the Government don't listen to us today the pressure will still be there.
"I think it would be easier for (Prime Minister) David Cameron to cancel it at this point, with some grace... I don't think there would be any shame in cancelling the policy because new evidence has come to light. It's not going to save money. I'm not the person who cares about money, I care about everything else.
"There is no scientific justification for it, there is no public backing for it, there's no moral grounds - but if it's not going to save the public money either then surely the foundations for this cull will disappear."
May has recorded an anti-cull anthem, titled The Badger Song, with Slash.
Cobra Starship rocker Gabe Saporta is a married man after exchanging vows with his fashion designer partner Erin Fetherston on Sunday (26May13). The Good Girls Go Bad hitmaker and Fetherston wed in an intimate ceremony in Barbados, where Saporta proposed to his now-wife on New Year's Eve (31Dec12).

She added, "Wedding time. Did my own make up!"

Paul proposed to his bride in a quiet courtyard in Paris, France on New Year's Eve (31Dec) in 2012.
"She's changing... and the intent was, 'It's Kirk', who is always such a womanising character, and the idea was to have a beat like that in the midst of all this action and adventure... I don't think I quite edited the scene in the right way, but look, to me, it was a sort of balance. There was a scene earlier where he's not quite dressed either, so it felt like it was a sort of trade-off. But some people did feel like it was exploiting her... and I can see their point of view." Star Trek Into Darkness director J.J. Abrams plays down the fuss surrounding a controversial underwear scene featuring Alice Eve in the new sequel.
Bono and Denzel Washington brought some superstar glamour to graduation day in New York on Wednesday (22May13) as the celebrated their daughters' academic achievements. The pair was in attendance at Yankee Stadium for the New York University's graduation ceremony, and watched proudly as their girls graduated.
The U2 rocker's 21-year-old actress daughter Eve Hewson picked her diploma, as did Olivia Washington.
Bono had been offered an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree by university bosses, but decided to turn down the honour so he could concentrate on cheering on his daughter's achievements.

Malcolm excelled at the Ivy League school, playing basketball and earning a degree in film studies.
Star Trek Into Darkness screenwriter Damon Lindelof regrets putting Alice Eve's gratuitous underwear scene into the sci-fi blockbuster. Fans have been flocking to catch the latest installment of the franchise, but were left baffled when the actress' character, weapon specialist Dr. Carol Marcus, strips down to her bra and panties.
Critics accused Lindelof and director J.J. Abrams of misogyny, and the screenwriter has now admitted he was wrong to have penned that part of the script.
Taking to Twitter.com, he writes, "I copped to the fact that we should have done a better job of not being gratuitous in our representation of a barely clothed actress. We also had Kirk (Chris Pine) shirtless in underpants in both movies. Do not want to make light of something that some construe as mysogenistic (sic).
"What I'm saying is I hear you, I take responsibility and will be more mindful in the future. Also, I need to learn how to spell 'misogynistic'."
