One Direction star Harry Styles embarrassed British newsman Piers Morgan by pulling down his shorts during a charity soccer game. The What Makes You Beautiful hitmaker was joined by his bandmates Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, who acted as team manager, at the celebrity soccer tournament in Leicester, England on Monday (26May14).
Morgan, Boyzone singer Ronan Keating and British comedian James Corden also took part in the match alongside former professional players. A short video has since emerged showing Styles running up behind Morgan and pulling his shorts down in front of the stadium crowd. Morgan swiftly hauls them back up and the singer runs off cheering.
The former talk show host took the prank in good spirits, writing on Twitter.com, "So (Harry Styles) pulled my shorts down mid-game. I believe this got the biggest scream of the day." He later posted the clip, adding, "(I) can't work out if this is a career high or low?"
Despite the mishap, rival team manager Morgan ended the game on a high as his soccer side emerged victorious following a penalty shootout against Horan's players. The match, which was organised by Horan, raised money for autism charities Irish Autism Action and U.K. Hearts And Minds Challenge.
Brad Pitt stunned revellers at a fundraising gala by joining Bruno Mars onstage to play tambourine during his set. The Fight club actor hosted an event in New Orleans, Louisiana on Saturday (17May14) to raise money for his Make It Right Foundation, which aims to build environmentally friendly housing in parts of the city left ruined by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
A video has emerged of Pitt taking to the stage during Mars' set and picking up a tambourine. He dances and shakes the instrument during a cover of James Brown classic Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine. Later that evening, the actor was joined by Sandra Bullock to host a live charity auction, which reportedly brought in more than $4 million (£2.5 million).
Other celebrities in attendance included Pitt's fiancee Angelina Jolie, Modern Family actress Sofia Vergara and comedian Chris Rock.
Paul Walker's younger brother Cody is still struggling to come to terms with the actor's tragic death, insisting his loss "doesn't feel real". The Fast & Furious star was killed in a fiery car accident in November (13), but Cody Walker reveals the news has yet to fully sink in, because he would often go months without seeing his sibling, as he worked on location.
Cody and his brother Caleb recently joined the cast of the Fast & Furious franchise as stand ins to help director James Wan complete filming Walker's unfinished scenes for the upcoming seventh installment of the movie, which the actor had been in the middle of shooting when he died suddenly.
The 25 year old has also been helping to promote Walker's disaster relief charity Reach Out WorldWide (ROWW) as the non-profit's new brand manager, and has been chatting to the media to mark the release of the star's last complete film, Brick Mansions.
But the emotional task proved to be a little too much for Cody on Thursday (24Apr14) as he broke down during a phone interview with a reporter from the Associated Press.
As his voice cracked, he said, "Right now, a whole lot of time has not gone by yet (since Paul's death). It still doesn't feel real, because sometimes, working in this industry, making films, he'd be away from his family three, four, six months at a time, you know? And my only interaction would be a phone call. So, I know it's going to take a while."
Actor-turned-writer Tony Marriott has died at the age of 83. He passed away on 17 April (14). No further details of his death have been released.
After starting his career as an actor in the 1960s, he turned his hand to writing and co-created comedy play No Sex Please, We're British.
The show opened in London in 1971 to dismal reviews, but it became a smash hit with theatregoers and remained on stage for 16 years, making it the longest-running comedy play in British history.
A film version was made in 1973 and starred beloved British comic Ronnie Corbett.
Marriott also produced scripts for TV series Z-Cars and worked on 1980s children's animation shows including James the Cat, and Bill the Blue Bear.
He went on to run an animal charity in London and worked as a magistrate.
Actress Shailene Woodley raised $60,000 (£362,932) for her All it Takes charity at an advanced screening of her new film Divergent. The 22 year old hosted the event, which drew a crowd of 400 eager fans to a cinema in Thousand Oaks, California, on Monday (17Mar14).
Woodley was joined by co-star Theo James and Divergent author Veronica Roth at the special screening, and together they raised $60,000 for her organisation, which she launched to promote youth empowerment four years ago (09).
The money raised from the screening will help to sponsor two instructional camps for kids.
Woodley previously told The Hollywood Reporter that through All it Takes she hopes to urge teens to "believe in yourself", noting that her organisation's core beliefs are quite similar to those of her character Tris, in Divergent.
She explained, "All It Takes is about bringing the community together to support one another and to encourage each other with leadership, positivity, compassion, empathy, and I think that Tris' journey really exemplifies that."
Former Van Halen guitarist Sammy Hagar and Metallica frontman James Hetfield are set to team up for a special benefit concert in May (14). The veteran rocker has recruited Hetfield, along with Green Day singer Billie Joe Armstrong and guitarist Joe Satriani, for the first annual Acoustic-4-a-Cure benefit gig at the famous Fillmore venue in San Francisco, California.
The all-star line-up - which also features Heart's Nancy Wilson and Train's Pat Monahan - will play an all-acoustic set, and event organisers promise fans once-in-a-lifetime duets and collaborations.
Proceeds from the event will be donated to the Pediatric Cancer Program at the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital.
Hagar says, "I've seen firsthand the great work they're doing and how vital community support is. I ran the idea of a benefit concert by James, and we quickly had an amazing lineup of artists on board."
British funnyman James Corden will take over as editor of Britain's The Sun newspaper for one day on Thursday (20Mar14), in aid of the Sports Relief charity. The Gavin & Stacey star will hold the daily news conference and select pictures, editorial, and the front-page story for Friday's (21Mar14) edition.
Stars including Sir Michael Caine, Helena Bonham Carter, Colin Firth and Damian Lewis helped raise more than $2.2 million (£1.4 million) for U.K. charity Save The Children at a glitzy London benefit on Wednesday (12Mar13). The star-studded crowd donned colourful outfits for the reggae-themed bash at the Roundhouse venue in Camden, where 500 guests gathered for a charity auction.
Madness and Jimmy Cliff were among the night's performers, while Jamaican reggae singer Dawn Penn teamed up with UB40's Ali Campbell for a rendition of Sonny and Cher track I Got You Babe.
Other guests included Bonham Carter's Burton and Taylor co-star Dominic West and Lewis' wife, Harry Potter star Helen McCrory.
The donations were pulled in through ticket sales and the auctioning of prizes such as a huge portrait of Bob Marley and a vacation at the Golden Eye Resort in Jamaica, the one-time home of James Bond writer Ian Fleming.
Blue stars Duncan James and Lee Ryan put their fitness levels to the test in the name of charity by racing up the stairs of a London skyscraper on Tuesday (04Mar14). The pair competed in the challenge to climb the 920 steps of Tower 42 to raise money for homelessness charity Shelter alongside 1,300 other racers.
James crossed the finish line 41 seconds ahead of his bandmate, reaching the top of the landmark in eight minutes and 31 seconds.
He says, "Obviously I'm chuffed to bits (happy) that I beat Lee to the top, but I'm also delighted that by taking part in such a great challenge, I can help Shelter to give homeless families the advice and support they need."
The stunt pulled in an estimated $800,000 (£500,000) for the organisation.
British royal Prince William has "star quality" and a great singing voice, according to Taylor Swift. The Love Story hitmaker performed a surprise duet with the Duke of Cambridge at a charity event in London in November (13) when they teamed up with rocker Jon Bon Jovi for a version of his anthem Livin' On A Prayer.
The musical moment was caught on film and made headlines around the world but many critics took aim at Prince William's vocal delivery, claiming his singing was off-key.
However, Swift has now spoken in detail about the event for the first time, and she is full of praise for the prince's singing skills.
She tells British magazine Event, "Well, both of us were more screaming than singing. But even through all that I could hear his voice and it is pretty good. A nice tone. I'd definitely say he's got star quality, and if he ever wants me to sing with him again I'll be there."
Swift also told how the fun-loving royal asked her to join him onstage when Bon Jovi suggested a duet: "We were in the front row and there were singers like James Blunt, Tinie Tempah, and Eliza Doolittle sitting near us. Jon Bon Jovi got up to perform and he called Prince William out because he'd heard he loves Livin' On A Prayer on karaoke nights... Then he said to everyone in the room, 'If I put pressure on the Karaoke Kid he'll have to get up and sing'.
"Prince William looked at me and said, 'I'll do it if you do it, too,' and then he took my hand. I was surprised and flattered and it felt surreal and completely natural at the same time. We jumped on the stage and started to sing and then we were really yelling into the microphone and clapping hands.
"I still can't believe I've sung with Prince William. But I completely love him - and Kate. I wish I'd got to meet her too because those guys are like this perfect couple. Just looking at them makes me feel happy."
