Pop star Kylie Minogue, Jason Derulo and British singers Ed Sheeran and John Newman were among the performers at Australia's top TV awards ceremony in Melbourne on Sunday night (27Apr14). The four stars all took to the stage during the 2014 Logie Awards, along with Australian singer Tina Arena and U.S. duo MKTO, with Derulo kicking off the show at the Crown Casino in Melbourne.
Minogue returned to the podium after her performance to present the night's top honour, the Gold Logie for Most Popular Personality on TV, to small screen veteran Scott Cam.
Other big winners on the night included Elizabeth Moss' crime drama Top of the Lake, which was named Most Outstanding Mini-series Or Telemovie, and Redfern Now, which landed Most Outstanding Drama Series.
Newlywed actress Asher Keddie topped off a sensational month by collecting two Silver Logies, for Most Outstanding Actress and Most Popular Actress, just weeks after she married her artist boyfriend in Fiji.
Following the show, Minogue faced a backlash on Twitter.com from fans who claimed the pop star had mimed her performance of her new single I Was Gonna Cancel, but the singer hit back at the criticism by insisting she was singing live.
She writes in a post on the social networking website, "Yes, we did something different and YES, I was singing live."
Australian actress Asher Keddie has married her artist boyfriend in Fiji. The Offspring star tied the knot with Vincent Fantauzzo on the exclusive Turtle Island earlier this month (Apr14) in a secret ceremony attended only by her partner's four-year-old son.
A spokesman for the couple says, "It was an intimate and private ceremony to celebrate their love and future together. The pair are absolutely thrilled."
They began dating in 2012.
The funnyman was the toast of the Australian TV prizegiving in Melbourne after receiving the evening's highest honour, the Gold Logie, which is presented to the country's most popular personality.
News of his win was posted online before the stars had even walked the red carpet, but Blake was unaware of his triumph, insisting, "Ultimately all that information was kept from me so it was a genuine surprise. I'm glad too because I am not a great actor."
Also receiving major accolades were Ben Rafter's Hugh Sheridan and Offspring's Asher Keddie, who both walked away with Silver Logies for Most Popular Actor and Actress, respectively.
The Slap star Melissa George took home the prize for Outstanding Actress and Rob Carloton of the Paper Giants took home the same award in the male category.
Rapper Flo Rida and singer Seal provided the entertainment for the evening, while Sir Elton John and Delta Goodrem took the stage to pay tribute to music personality Ian 'Molly' Meldrum, who suffered a severe head injury during a fall in December (11).
The Rocket Man said, "I know I speak for many artists and music lovers around world when I say thank you, there's no one like you," while Goodrem added, "I refer to Molly as the Godfather, he always watches over me and many other artists."
British boy band One Direction closed out the ceremony with a rendition of One Thing.
The big winners at Australia's top TV prize-giving, the Logie Awards, were Hugh Sheridan, who took the Most Popular Actor trophy, and Asher Keddie who was named Most Popular Actress. The show on Sunday night (01May11) saw performances from Katy Perry, Maroon 5 and British singer Jessie J.
