Kourtney Kardashian gave birth to her second child last month (Jul12) and she chose to honour her Scottish ancestors by naming her daughter Penelope Scotland Disick.
However, her younger sibling thought it sounded better as Scotland Penelope and so she lobbied for the new parents to reconsider the name order - but her idea was vetoed by Kourtney's longtime boyfriend Scott Disick.
The couple introduced the little girl to the world as part of a covershoot article for this week's (beg06Aug12) Us Weekly magazine and in the accompanying interview, Disick says, "There was no way (we would name her Scotland Penelope). With me being named Scott, it's the most egotistical thing a man can do!"
Kourtney and Disick are also parents to a two-year-old son, Mason.
The latest movie in the Step Up franchise aims for a politicized message behind all the flashy moves but it could do with a lot less plot and a lot more dancing. In Step Up Revolution the Miami dance group "The Mob" takes to the streets (and other random locations) to perform intricately choreographed routines with their own DJ a camera guy who uploads their videos to YouTube and a graffiti artist who leaves their signature behind. It takes at least that much effort just to get hipster New Yorkers to ride the subways without any pants on once a year; it's hard to believe that The Mob could pull off their elaborate schemes without getting caught but that's the magic of movies.
The Mob represents the more diverse working class side of Miami a young multiracial group of friends who create incredible works of art that disappear before they get shut down. One of the Mob's leaders Sean (Ryan Guzman) earnestly explains to newcomer Emily (Kathryn McCormick) that the group's reason is to give a voice to the voiceless or to be happy or to dance or something. It's not really clear but they have a lot of fun and look amazing doing it.
Once Sean and his friends find out that a greedy developer plans to raze their neighborhood to make way for another South Beach-style hotel monstrosity they have a reason to rally but until then they're just trying to win a cash prize by getting clicks on YouTube. The typical Step Up twist is that Emily is the developer's daughter. Mr. Anderson (Peter Gallagher) doesn't approve of Emily's love of dancing or other frippery and he certainly wouldn't approve of her hanging out with the people causing such mayhem in the streets of Miami.
Step Up Revolution biggest misstep is trying to give the movie more of a hook than the franchise's typical Romeo and Juliet-style love story and tap into "the Zeitgeist" (I swear that's from the studio-provided press notes) of flash mobs. The film could have cut out most of the plot and characters and still have a completely intact film insofar as the point of the film is its multimedia dance routines. The sort of productions The Mob pulls off are more akin to carefully planned art installations or music videos in terms of scope; it would have been better to at least make that somehow feasible in terms of the storyline. Yes we are here for a spectacle and we surely get a spectacle but it needs to have some roots in reality.
The dance scenes are fun sexy and occasionally a little sappy but overall quite enjoyable for people who enjoy "So You Think You Can Dance" type of shows. Kathryn McCormick and Stephen "tWitch" Boss both appeared on "SYTYCD" and their costar Misha Gabriel is a classically trained ballet dancer turned pro back-up dancer for folks like Beyoncé and Michael Jackson. Guzman doesn't have a dance background but he is an MMA fighter who obviously took his training very seriously. The entire outfit is pretty damn entertaining to be honest.
As far as the 3D goes it makes most of Miami look overcast and grey. The extra zings added in to make sure we get our money's worth like sand flicking out at us or a breakdancer whose foot seems to be aiming for our face only serves to distract from the real show at hand. There is also an awful lot of ramping and generally spazzy editing tricks that look cheap. The screenplay by Amanda Brody is definitely not its strong suit.
Step Up Revolution is the cinematic equivalent of a trashy beach novel. It's embarrassing to be caught actually enjoying it and you'll forget about it almost immediately but it's a decent way to spend a summer afternoon.
The No Country for Old Men star, who is married to Penelope Cruz, and his older brother Carlos walked through the city to demonstrate against the government's decision to slash spending and raise consumption tax rates on art and culture.
The Bardems marched under a banner which read, "Culture is not a luxury".
The Vicky Cristina Barcelona star will be photographed wearing the 2012 Key To The Cure T-shirt, which will be sold in Saks Fifth Avenue stores this autumn (12) to raise money for the Women's Cancer Research Fund.
The fund benefits charities aiming to find innovative detection methods, better treatments and eventual cures for cancer.
Cruz says, "I am honoured to join the Entertainment Industry Foundation's Women's Cancer Research Fund and Saks Fifth Avenue to raise awareness for women's cancers. Cancer has affected each and every one of us in one way or another and I am thrilled to be involved with this wonderful cause."
Previous ambassadors for the annual initiative include Hollywood beauties Gwyneth Paltrow and Uma Thurman.
The Downton Abbey star found fame in the 1970s and has featured in more than 40 TV shows during her career, as well as films including Calendar Girls and Shaun of the Dead.
She was the guest of honour at a graduation ceremony from the Scarborough Campus of the University of Hull on Friday, when officials handed her a Doctor of Letters.
Wilton said, "I am absolutely delighted. It is a great honour."
You've got to love artists these days. With the advent of the interwebs, today's pop art is no longer Warhol's soup cans. It's Chicks With Steve Buscemi Eyes and Photoshop jobs of celebs looking fat and old.
Artist Danny Evans, of Planet Hiltron, has an amazing new one. Evans created an image of celebrity couple Kim Kardashian and Kanye West 20 years in the future (kind of like Lea Thompson in Back to the Future). He recently told the Daily Mail that he "presents them as duller versions of themselves — maybe a little frumpier, heftier or a little plainer."
But it's not the first time Kardashian has had her look changed in the name of "art." Remember this E! special Secret Celebrity with Nick Lachey? The reality star wore a homely prosthetic face and fooled fans. Check out the clip below (skip to the halfway point unless you want to watch a disguised Nick Lachey stripping):

Reality TV star Kourtney Kardashian gave birth to a daughter on Sunday morning (08Jul12) in Los Angeles.
Kim Kardashian's sister welcomed a little girl named Penelope Scotland, weighing in at seven pounds, 14 ounces ( 3.2 kilograms), at the city's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The new arrival is Kardashian's second child with her longtime boyfriend Scott Disick.
She tells E! News, "Scott and I are overjoyed to welcome our precious angel Penelope Scotland Disick into our lives. We are forever blessed. Mommy and baby are resting comfortably."
The couple is already parents to two-year-old son Mason.
The socialite's sister Kim also expressed her joy at becoming an aunt again in a post on her official website. She writes, "Welcome to the world, Penelope Scotland Disick! Kourtney gave birth to a beautiful baby daughter on Sunday and the whole family is so thrilled to finally meet her! She is absolutely perfect! I am so excited to be an aunt again and can't wait to spoil little Penelope. I know Mason is going to be the best big brother in the whole world. Congratulations Kourtney and Scott."
The big screen beauty is one of the most glamorous women in the world, but when she's at home, she likes nothing better than creating healthy meals and keeping her house in order.
She tells Britain's Hello! magazine, "I'm a housewife and it's beautiful, the best thing in the world. I know how to cook and it's important to me to make fresh food every day. I don't do crazy diets, just the good Mediterranean food that I love because it's important to eat well.
"I'm good at cleaning too. I learnt that when I made the film Volver. My character was always cleaning the house, so when I started preparing for the role I would go to my mother's house and to my sister's house, and they were like, 'I think she has a fever, because I don't know why else she has come to clean my house today.''
"I don't think I would like to be married again, I've been married for a very long time during my life." Downton Abbey star Penelope Wilton is happy with her current relationship status after two failed marriages. Her last union ended in 2001.
The Desperate Housewives star began dating Penelope Cruz's singer brother last February (11), several months after separating from her basketball star husband Tony Parker over reports of infidelity.
The couple was thought to have ended its relationship in March (12) but put rumours to rest a month later (Apr12) by sharing a romantic meal in Hollywood and later jetting off to Seville, where they were spotted getting intimate on 17 June (12).
However according to a representative for Cruz, the two have now called it quits for good, reports UsMagazine.com.
