The Van Helsing star and husband Ali Alborzi, who are already parents to six-year-old daughter Rumi, welcomed little Indi on 1 July (12), and Maran admits the birthing process was anything but normal - her water broke in the backyard of her Pennsylvania farmhouse, prompting the 34 year old to go into labour in a blow-up swimming pool.
In a blog for People.com, she writes, "I was standing on the stairs in my farmhouse chatting with Ali's mom when my water broke. Instantly I became giggly and giddy with excitement at meeting my new baby. Soon I was sitting in a blow-up kiddie swimming pool in my backyard with my midwives, family, and friends gathered around. My dear husband was in the pool with me, encouraging me, telling me that I was powerful, capable and beautiful...
"My older daughter, Rumi Joon, was dancing around, checking on me, then running off to make me clover crowns. She even came out with a plate of cookies for my guests - always the perfect little hostess.
"When I was struggling, she gave me lots of kisses to help me through... There was nothing but love in the air, and I'm sure that helped Indi make her way into our arms in only four hours."
And the day was certainly full of surprises - Maran thought she was having a boy.
She adds, "At first, we were pretty shocked she was a girl - I had thought I was having a boy! That moment was a beautiful reminder that we don't know or control everything."
Model Josie Maran has named her newborn daughter Indi Joon Maran Alborzi. The runway beauty welcomed her second child with photographer Ali Alborzi on Sunday (01Jul12). They are also parents to a six-year-old girl named Rumi Joon.
The runway beauty began experiencing contractions early last week (begs25Jun12), but she didn't go into labour until Sunday night (01Jul12) after taking one Twitter.com follower's advice to eat spicy food to naturally bring on the labour process.
She wrote, "On my way to Mexican food to try and spice this munchkin out of me..." before adding shortly afterwards, "Spicy food worked!!! My water just broke!!!"
Maran updated fans again on Monday (02Jul12) when she posted the first photo of her newborn on her social networking site along with the caption, "She's here!! Heavenly creature".
The tot is Maran and her photographer boyfriend Ali Alborzi's second child - they are also parents to another daughter, six-year-old Rumi Joon.
Maran and her photographer boyfriend Ali Alborzi will become parents again this summer (Jul12).
And five-year-old Rumi Joon's mum insists she's always learning about motherhood, and can't wait to start again.
She tells People.com, "I’ve learned a lot about myself by watching Rumi Joon grow up. Just seeing her smile makes me realise that being happy is the ultimate beauty secret, and I can’t wait to welcome this new addition to my family.
"I’ve already gotten back into prenatal yoga, and I’m just bracing myself for the weird food cravings to kick in - last time it was chocolate ice cream with pickles, so who knows what to expect this time."

After gracing the pages of some of the biggest magazines, including multiple covers of <i>Glamour</i> and appearances in <i>Sports Illustrated</i>'s Swimsuit Issue, Josie Maran became best known for being the first contestant voted off - some felt, unfairly - the fifth season of "Dancing with the Stars" (ABC, 2005- ). In addition to landing numerous covers with her fresh-faced beauty, Maran was featured in national ad campaigns for Guess and Maybelline, and appeared in such films as "The Aviator" (2004) and "Van Helsing" (2004). Also a busy entrepreneur, activist and mom, Maran launched her eponymous eco-chic cosmetic line, Josie Maran Cosmetics, in the fall of 2007, and was a spokesperson for the national environmental organization, Global Green. Although her stint on "Dancing was brief, Maran was paired with Season One winner Alec Mazo, dancing a lovely number before getting cut - more for being one of the lesser known celebrities on the stage than for a perceived lack of dance talent.
