Celebrities including Britney Spears, Pharrell Williams, Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran helped raise $23.2 million (£14.5 million) during the U.K. Stand Up To Cancer telethon on Friday (17Oct14).
The "Toxic" hitmaker took part in a sketch called "Andy Murray: The Movie", in which celebrities were auditioning for parts in the upcoming biopic of the Scottish tennis player's life. Spears tried out for the role of Murray's girlfriend Kim Sears with a fake Cockney accent, while Williams tried a Scottish twang as he auditioned for Murray. Others trying out for parts included Ed Sheeran, who played "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)" by Scottish group The Proclaimers, while Andy Serkis filmed his audition in a motion capture suit. Swift took on British celebrity chef Jamie Oliver for a 'bake it off' competition sketch, where they were supposed to each make a chocolate cake. However, Oliver began singing and dancing to a revamped version of her new single Shake It Off and the pair ended up pulling funny moves and throwing food around.
British rocker Noel Gallagher teamed up with supermodels Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell for a celebrity version of Gogglebox, where viewers are filmed watching TV. The trio watched reality shows such as Strictly Come Dancing and The X Factor and gave a comedic running commentary. Also during the broadcast, Martin Clunes and Neil Morrissey revived their Men Behaving Badly characters for the first time in 16 years for a one-off sketch about testicular cancer. Will Ferrell appeared as his Anchorman character Ron Burgundy, giving a news report on cancer, Sherlock star Martin Freeman took part in a magic card trick with celebrity illusionist Derren Brown, and Nicole Scherzinger and John Legend were interviewed during a live taping of chat show Alan Carr: Chatty Man. At the end of the live telethon, $23.2 million had been raised for Cancer Research U.K.
The Kills star Jamie Hince suffers unbearable pain in his fingers every time he plays guitar following a nasty hand injury last year (13). The musician, who is married to British supermodel Kate Moss, was spotted with his left arm in a sling in April, 2013, sparking rumours he had hurt himself badly.
Hince has now opened up about the injury to his left hand, revealing he is still suffering more than a year later, and it is affecting his guitar playing.
He tells Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper, "It's taken a toll on my other fingers and I'm in pain quite a lot after shows. That's my least favourite part of touring now: The physical pain."
Stars including supermodel Kate Moss, rocker Johnny Borrell and former Rolling Stones bassist Bill Wyman were among the mourners who gathered at the funeral of tragic socialite Peaches Geldof on Monday (21Apr14). Friends and family members came together to pay their last respects to Bob Geldof's daughter at St Mary Magdalene and St Lawrence church in Kent, England.
Moss was joined by her rocker husband Jamie Hince at the private service, while other mourners included musician Jools Holland, Sarah Ferguson, Duchess of York, Sting's wife Trudie Styler, TV presenter Alexa Chung, actress Jaime Winstone and music mogul Alan McGee.
Geldof's coffin was painted light blue and adorned with a mural of the star with her husband Thomas Cohen, their two sons and their pet dogs.
The church where the funeral was held, close to the Geldof family home, had special significance as it was where the late TV star married her husband Cohen in 2012 and where her father wed her mother Paula Yates in 1988.
Yates' ashes were scattered in the church grounds following her death from a drug overdose in 2000.
The 25-year-old mother-of-two was found dead at her home in Kent on 7 April (14). The cause of death is still not known.
The first episode of the final season for AMC's Mad Men airs this Sunday (finally!) and we all know what that means: more Peggy Olson. Now, some folks are calling her "the new Don Draper," and while that's all fine and good, we're quite content knowing that she's just plain Peggy. Plain, old, copy-writing, ass-kicking, forward-thinking, marijuana-smoking (occasionally), brilliant, amazing, everything-that-Don-Draper-could-never-be Peggy Olson. And the actor who portrays her, Elisabeth Moss, is just as awesome for that matter. Here are seven times (of many) when Peggy Olson — the only employee at Sterling Cooper & Partners who can legitimately work and drink at the same time — totally stole the show.
Basket of Genius
When Peggy hit Freddy Rumsen with the "basket of kisses" line that went on to become the Belles Jolie ad, we knew she was something special. She stood out in a room full of women trying on lipstick because — like the men behind the glass — she was more interested in observing than anything else (you can see this at the 4:02 mark). Unlike the men, though, she was attentive to nearly every detail of the experience. As a result, she was able to come up with the brilliant copy that would mark the beginning of her career.
Bye Bye Peggy
We all remember the episode that opened with the clip of Ann-Margret belting out Bye Bye Birdie. But just as memorable was the moment when Peggy — a solitary girl in her dark apartment — sang the song in her mirror while no one listened.
Peggy Olson Meets Mary Jane
She knows who she is, and knows what she wants. "I'm Peggy Olsen. And I want to smoke some marijuana." This is still one of the most important lines of the series. Not because marijuana was so important (although it does function as this strange sort of guest character), but because it was one of the first times when she firmly asserted herself. It was the beginning of a new era of Peggy who wasn't just going to speak up about "brassieres and body odor and make-up."
The Nudist Experiment
"I can work like this. Let's get liberated." Another hugely important line in Mad Men history. When Peggy stripped down in front of Stan Rizzo and totally called his bluff, it was nothing short of epic. After hours of babbling about wanting to be free and nude, he couldn't handle a little Peggy O sans threads. And let's face it, neither can we. You can see a clip from the scene at the 2:45 mark of this video.
Truthfully, Joan and Peggy are a perfect team here, but it is important to note that this is a rare moment when someone calls the incomparable Joan Holloway on her "bulls**t" and even Joan can't argue back. She, like Peggy, is guilty of loving her job way too much.
That Moment We Realized What Peggy Olson Really Means to Don
If this doesn't bring tears to your eyes than you are either a) someone who has never watched Mad Men and has no understanding of the significance of Peggy quitting, or b) a humanoid robot, devoid of feeling and emotion.
Every Moment Compiled in This Montage
Even when she was apologizing all over the place and super-mousy, you couldn't help but want to know more about her. And when she yelled at her secretary for more coffee? Man, we love everything you do, Peggy.
Sidenote: Nobody has seen fit to make a video or GIF of the moment from the Season 6 finale, when Peggy walked in wearing that teeny, tiny black dress with the pink bow. And Chanel No. 5. Obviously. This needs to be remedied as soon as possible.

She tells E! News, "It was a mutual decision. We love each other very much. It just wasn't the right time for us and I think if we weren't as mature and adult as we are, then we could have gone down a road that wasn't really nice."
"We're still really, really good friends. It's just that we're not living in the same house. There's no dramatic story. I wish there was so I had something to tell people, but no... It just happens in life."

Osbourne was previously engaged to wed model Luke Worrall.
Rock matriarch and reality TV regular Sharon Osbourne is glad her daughter Kelly didn't rush down the aisle after becoming engaged to chef Matthew Mosshart last year (13) - because it was important for the couple to test their relationship first. The singer-turned-reality TV star announced she had broken off her relationship with the vegan chef on Wednesday (08Jan14), a year after accepting his proposal, and her mum is grateful her daughter isn't getting divorced.
Sharon insists the former couple will remain close after both parties realised they weren't ready for marriage.
Addressing the break-up news on her U.S. chat show The Talk on Thursday (09Jan14), Osbourne said, "I can't talk for my daughter (but) Matthew is a lovely guy. They had two great years together of fun and love and for me, that's why engagements are so important...
"They are a test run (for marriage), aren't they? And so it didn't work for whatever reason, but they are still good friends and will continue to be; it's just not right for them right now."
And she then made light of her daughter's dating life, adding, "Let the auditions begin!"
