Karl Urban can next be seen in Dredd, based on the comic book Judge Dredd, which previously spawned the gloriously awful 1995 Sylvester Stallone film. Hopefully Urban's version will fare better. Click below for more images of the New Zealand-bred actor:
Taken director Pierre Morel has lined up his next film Overdrive with I Am Number Four’s Alex Pettyfer and Watchmen’s Matthew Goode (he was also in Leap Year but the less said about that the better). An action thriller about car thieves in France with a healthy dose of comedy, it's being described as a combination of Point Break and The Hangover, which gives me all kinds of headaches. Why no one dared to compare it to Gone in 60 Seconds is still beyond me.
Colombian director Antonio Negret, who just wrapped the Joel Silver-produced thriller Transit, is helming the $29 million flick, and with two competent action filmmakers, two pretty boys in exotic locales with fast cars the film will basically be able to print money.
Jim Caviezel is the latest actor to join the cast of Transit, the After Dark Films indie thriller from Colombian director Antonio Negret (Seconds Apart, Hacia la Oscuridad). Caviezel, who has starred in The Passion of the Christ and Frequency, joins Elizabeth Rohm, Diora Baird, Harold Perrineau, and James Frain.
The plot, from screenwriter Michael Gilvary (According to Greta), revolves around a group of thieves on the run after a bank robbery who come across a suburban family on their way to a camping trip. When the criminals hide their stolen money in the family's SUV at a rest stop, the protective father (Caviezel) and his family unwittingly make themselves the target of the murderous band of outlaws when they drive off with the cash.
Courtney Solomon is set to produce, and Hollywood heavyweight Joel Silver will executive produce.
