Singer Jessica Simpson has been discharged from hospital after giving birth to her second child. The pop star was released from Los Angeles' Cedars-Sinai Hospital on Wednesday (10Jul13) - her 33rd birthday - and she returned home to celebrate her special day with family and close friends.
She has been resting at the medical centre since undergoing a scheduled Caesarean section to deliver her son, Ace Knute, on 30 June (13).
Simpson and her fiance Eric Johnson are also parents to a 14-month-old daughter, Maxwell Drew.
Ashlee Simpson is to reprise her stage role as Roxie Hart in Brooke Shields' Chicago spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl. The singer/actress will join Stephen Moyer, Lucy Lawless, Samantha Barks and Drew Carey in the upcoming production, which will run for three nights at the fabled Los Angeles venue at the end of July (26-28Jul13), according to BroadwayWorld.com.
Simpson made her professional stage debut as Roxie Hart in the West End production of Chicago in 2006. She reprised the role for her Broadway debut.
Shields, who also starred in Chicago on the London and New York stages, will make her directorial debut by taking charge of the show.
British pop star Jessie J struggled through a radio interview on Tuesday morning (09Jul13) after she fell sick with a throat condition. The Price Tag hitmaker was struck down with a sore throat, but she refused to cancel her chat on Ireland's Today FM station.
In a post on her Instagram.com page, the star writes, "My voice has decided to be friends with the air con today and dry out to (The Simpsons character) Marge Simpson vibes! So I'm in bright trousers and will do all I can to be entertaining with hardly no (sic) voice! Let's do this! Today FM official I'm live now!! *whispering*."
Speaking during the interview, the star, who recently quit her role as a judge on the U.K. version of The Voice, declared, "To any of my contestants listening - yes, I lose my voice too, guys. You have to rest your voice, it's so hard. I know every trick of the trade (to treat a bad throat) - I know exactly why my voice is like this, I know exactly what I need to do to get it back. I'm just human."
Australian pop star Cody Simpson was instrumental in launching his younger sister's singing career as he encouraged her to follow him into the music business. Simpson, who is currently touring the U.S. with his friend Justin Bieber, helped his 15-year-old sister Alli land a recording contract and is now feeling proud as her debut track, Why I'm Single, is racking up millions of hits on YouTube.com.
Alli has revealed she wouldn't have pursued a pop career without her brother's encouragement, telling the Sydney Daily Telegraph, "I never had any intention of getting into the business but whenever I would sing around the house, Cody always encouraged me to take it further. I thought I might as well give it a go because we are in the right market to do it...
"The response has been mind blowing. I would never have thought it would make it into the top charts around the world. It's so surreal to me... We are both 100 per cent supportive of each other and are always there for one another."
Cody adds of his sister, "She's my best mate. We hardly argue and I always ask for her opinion on things. I trust her in every single way.''
Former Busted star Charlie Simpson has moved swiftly to dismiss rumours suggesting the band will be reforming on a reality TV show. The pop stars split in 2005 and Simpson has gone on to carve out a new career with rock group Fightstar, but speculation about a possible Busted comeback has increased following the success of U.K. TV show The Big Reunion, which resurrected 1990s groups including Five, 911, Atomic Kitten and Liberty X.
Fans had hoped Busted would be part of a potential second season of the show, but Simpson has now spoken out to torpedo the reunion rumours.
Speaking to Britain's Absolute Radio, he says, "Busted - that won't be happening, but I'll definitely be getting in the studio with Fightstar again."
He adds of reality TV talent shows, "I'm not a big fan of reality TV shows to be honest. It's a bit of a cliche to say it's ruining the music industry but I just don't really care about it... The majority of people who come off those shows and have that initial success before it fades away are left in a worse position from where they started."
Other bands including All Saints, East 17, Eternal and Savage Garden are rumoured to have signed up for the second season of The Big Reunion.
Pop star Ashlee Simpson has sparked rumours of a blossoming new romance with Diana Ross' son Evan after they were snapped holding hands in Los Angeles. The Pieces of Me hitmaker, who divorced rocker Pete Wentz in 2011, was spotted leaving Teddy's at the Roosevelt Hotel with Evan Ross in the early hours of Tuesday (02Jun13).
In photographs obtained by x17online.com, Simpson is featured rocking a floral maxi dress and a shy smile as she hops into the back seat of a waiting car with the 24 year old.
The singer split from Boardwalk Empire star Vincent Piazza in November (12), while musician/actor Ross has previously been linked to Rita Ora and model Cora Skinner.
Alicia Silverstone — vegan, cookbook author, mother, former virgin who can't drive — has launched an initiative through which new vegan mothers can share their breast milk. Talk about a niche market.
On June 25, Silverstone announced on her blog The Kind Life that, after talking to a new mother who is having a hard time creating breast milk of her own, she will be starting a cooperative for women with similar lifestyle and diet choices (i.e. vegan) to share breast milk.
"A lot of women unfortunately have a similar struggle, and there's no reason why they shouldn't be able to give their babies the most amazing start in life with clean, mean, glorious breast milk," Silverstone writes. "And because we are a community of beautiful souls who recognize the importance of food as health, I say we help support those mamas and babies who need a hand during one of the most important times in their lives. It's why I'm starting the Kind Mama Milk Share, a way for moms to connect with other moms in their area. If you have milk to share — post it! If you are in need of milk —post it! Think of all the babies we can help raise together!"
What a lovely, conscientious, hippie thing to do!
Silverstone's new venture also answered an age old question: that vegans (or vegan offspring, at least) do indeed imbibe breast milk. While other forms of milk are verboten due to the animals' lack of consent, human mothers are able to freely give their milk, making the liquid kosher. (Well, not actually kosher, I don't think, but allowed.)
But this raises an interesting ethical question about veganism. If meat from a human is freely given, is that also allowed? If no animals were harmed in the making of a delicious human kidney pie, and Joe Shmoe didn't want his kidney anyway, is it vegan? Heck, is Hannibal Lector a vegan? This might be a game-changer.

At last, Jessica Simpson has popped out yet another child — okay, it's only her second, but doesn't it feel like the actress/singer is always pregnant?!
The Fashion Star guru and her fiancé Eric Johnson, former NFL star, welcomed their new baby boy Ace Knute Johnson into the world on Sunday, according to CNN. This is the couple's second child; Ace has his big sis, Maxwell Drew, to play with!
Although Ace is a somewhat normal name in comparison to recent outlandish monikers — ahem, North West — we can't help but gleefully giggle at the middle name Knute, which obviously pays homage to the beloved mush polar bear, Knut. Eh, that's probably not the proper origin for the new babe's name (a far more likely theory would involve football legend Knute Rockne, considering Johnson's line of work). But come on, we wouldn't exactly blame the "A Public Affair" singer for honoring the super cuddly bear, to whom the world said a tragic goodbye back in 2011.
If this is the case, the young Simpson has a lot to live up to, at least in terms of Knut's general adorability. But if Simpson's gorgeous genes pass down, we're positive baby Ace will have no difficulties in the looks department

Pop star Jessica Simpson is a new mum after giving birth to a baby boy. The Irresistible hitmaker and her fiance Eric Johnson welcomed Ace Knute, a little brother for their daughter Maxwell Drew, in Los Angeles on Sunday (30Jun13).
Her representative tells UsMagazine.com, "Ace Knute Johnson has arrived! Mum and baby are doing great. Jessica, Eric and Maxwell are thrilled to welcome the new addition to their family."
The boy's middle name is a nod to his paternal grandfather, Knute Johnson.
Simpson confirmed her second pregnancy in November (12), just seven months after becoming a first-time mother.
Melissa Etheridge, Trey Songz and songwriter Valerie Simpson were among the musicians honoured at a special gala in New York City on Thursday night (27Jun13). The trio was applauded at the New York Chapter Recording Academy Honors, staged to celebrate the East Coast's dedication to the arts, and other honourees included violinist Joshua Bell and the lyricists/composers behind hit stage show Les Miserables, Alain Boublil, Herbert Kretzmer and Claude-Michel Schonberg.
Songz, Simpson, Michael Bolton and Ne-Yo were among the performers at the event, while British actress Samantha Barks, who played Eponine in the 2012 movie adaptation of Les Miserables, performed a song from the musical.
Speaking at the ceremony, Boublil jokingly thanked Scottish singer Susan Boyle for releasing the production's stand-out track I Dreamed A Dream after performing the song on U.K. reality TV show Britain's Got Talent.
He says, "I would like to thank Susan Boyle for giving us a Billboard No. 1 hit without knowing what she was doing."
Pianist Peter Cincotti honoured late producer Phil Ramone by talking about his memories of the famed hitmaker and performing an original composition, Rocket 88, as a dedication to the star, who died in March (13).
He revealed, "I met him when I was 17 and I saw him up until a month before he passed away. We were quite close. He was a rare breed. It was an honour to know him."
Simpson, who formed songwriting/production team Ashford & Simpson with her late husband Nickolas Ashford, was thrilled to be honoured at the event and performed a medley of the duo's biggest hits, including I'm Every Woman and Aint No Mountain High Enough.
She told The Hollywood Reporter, "It says to me that the body of work that Nick Ashford and I have created is a living legacy that will go on and on and on and it makes my heart feel good."
