Nicole Scherzinger is set to make her West End stage debut in the revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical Cats in December (14).
The former Pussycat Dolls singer will star as feline Grizabella, the role made famous by Elaine Paige. The original team of director Trevor Nunn, choreographer Gillian Lynne and composer Lloyd Webber are reuniting to bring the musical back for a limited London run.
Scherzinger says, "I am really thrilled to be making my West End debut in such an iconic show and I couldn't be more excited. To have the opportunity to work with Andrew, Trevor and Gillian is a dream come true. I grew up listening to Andrew's extraordinary music and was lucky enough, a couple of years ago, to record Cats' beautiful song Memory. Andrew's score is breathtaking and I am truly honoured to have been asked to take part in what I know will be a very special time in my career. I can't wait to begin rehearsals."
The revival will run from 6 December (14) to 7 February (15) at the London Palladium theatre.
Guy Pearce is set to tackle the role of The Great Gatsby author F. Scott Fitzgerald opposite British actor Dominic West as Ernest Hemingway in new movie Genius. Theatre director Michael Grandage will make his feature film debut with the big screen adaptation of A. Scott Berg's award-wining biography Max Perkins: Editor of Genius, about the relationship between American novelist Thomas Wolfe, played by Jude Law, and his editor Max Perkins, who will be portrayed by Colin Firth.
Now Iron Man 3 star Pearce and The Wire actor West have joined the line-up for the movie as Perkins' other famous writers.
The film will also feature Nicole Kidman as costume designer and writer Aline Bernstein, who was romantically linked to Wolfe in the 1920s, and Laura Linney as Perkins' wife, Louise.
Production on the project is due to begin in the U.K. next month (Oct14).
The period movie will reunite Grandage with Law, who starred in the theatre mogul's West End production of Henry V last year (13), and Pearce with Kidman, who co-star in forthcoming thriller Strangerland.
All-girl group All Saints reunited for their first festival performance in a decade in Chelmsford, England on Saturday (16Aug14). The group, fronted by sisters Natalie and Nicole Appleton, was among the big draws on the first day of the annual V Festival - and the ladies didn't disappoint, performing a string of big hits, including Booty Call, Never Ever, Pure Shores and Under The Bridge.
They also covered tunes by Kanye West, Jay-Z and Azealia Banks.
It was a big day for the ladies at the two-site festival - Lily Allen, Blondie, Rita Ora, Janelle Monae, Katy B and Sophie Ellis-Bextor were also on the bill at both Hylands Park, Chelmsford and sister site Weston Park in Staffordshire, England.
Justin Timberlake headlined the first day in Chelmsford, taking the stage with his big band in a Tom Ford suit. He thrilled one festivalgoer, who was celebrating her birthday, by posing for a 'selfie' with her during his set.
Ed Sheeran, Bastille, Elbow and Kaiser Chiefs were also among the highlights of Saturday's festival, while The Killers headlined the event in Staffordshire with Paolo Nutini, Lily Allen, Rudimental, Ora and Jason DeRulo among the top attractions there.
The Killers thrilled fans with their rendition of Iggy Azalea's Fancy, with frontman Brandon Flowers telling the crowd, "We've sort of been working on something and we wanted to show you a little bit of it, if you don't mind hearing it."
The low point of the first day came when rockers Manic Street Preachers had to scrap their planned performance at Hylands Park after suffering travel issues in Hungary.
The Welsh rockers were in the country for a gig at the Sziget Festival on Friday (15Aug14) and they were due to fly to the U.K. for their V Festival slot in Chelmsford, England on Saturday, but the band was forced to cancel after getting stuck on a plane for five hours at an airport in Budapest before the flight crew informed them the aircraft would not be taking off.
The band did make it to the stage for their set at the Staffordshire site on Sunday (17Aug14). All acts who played the Chelmsford site on Saturday repeated their performances at Weston Park on Sunday, and vice-versa.
Singer Nicole Scherzinger is reportedly in talks to star in a revival of Andrew Lloyd Webber's hit musical Cats in London's West End. The former Pussycat Dolls star is in "very early discussions" to take on the role of glamorous feline Grizabella, according to the U.K.'s Daily Mail.
Scherzinger, who recently served as a judge on The X Factor in the U.K., already has ties to Lloyd Webber - she performed at the 25th anniversary of The Phantom of the Opera in 2011, singing the title song alongside four former Phantoms, including Simon Bowman and Earl Carpenter.
Cats is slated to return to the West End stage later this year (14) after closing in 2002.
Nicole Kidman is hoping for a career-boosting double turn on the London stage following her flop Grace Kelly biopic. The Oscar winner's reputation took a hit earlier this year (14) when her turn as the actress-turned-princess in Grace of Monaco debuted to scathing reviews and poor box office sales.
The Australian star tried to distance herself from the film failure, insisting she had "no control" over how the movie was edited and produced, and now she's hoping to return to the West End, where she wowed audiences in The Blue Room in 1998.
According to Britain's Daily Mail, Kidman is lining up two plays which will run back-to-back.
She tells the publication, "I don't know how it's going to work yet, but yes, that's the idea. Two in a row... Everything is being done to make the plays happen. There's commitment from me and everyone involved."
One of the productions the Moulin Rouge star is in negotiations over is A Month In The Country, a comedy by Ivan Turgenev.
Proving that there’s nothing Hollywood won’t reboot if given then chance, a new Scooby Doo movie is reportedly in the works at Warner Bros. According to Variety, the studio is looking to send Scooby, Shaggy, and the gang on another spooky adventure, which will be written by Randall Green. The news comes just a year after Warner Bros. also announced plans for an animated Scooby Doo movie, which is reportedly still on track. Though the last live-action Mystery Gang outings, 2002’s Scooby Doo and its sequel Monsters Unleashed, did well commercially, they weren’t received well by critics and fans of the series, which is why it’s surprising that Warner Bros. would be so intent at taking a third shot at big-screen adventure. After all, the live-action Scooby Doo’s were only slightly better than Yogi Bear. There are plenty of other great classic Hanna-Barbera properties that would make for great films, so why does Scooby get a third shot at big screen success? Think about all of the possibilities that are open…

Cameron Diaz and rocker Benji Madden appear to have gone public with their romance after they were spotted strolling down a busy New York City street hand-in-hand.
The Charlie's Angels beauty sparked rumours she is dating the Good Charlotte star last month (May14) when they were seen going to the gym together before leaving in the actress' car. They were reportedly introduced by Madden's sister-in-law, Nicole Richie, but have so far refused to comment on speculation that they are an item.
However, they seemed very much a couple earlier this week (beg03Jun14) when they were seen picking up coffees in New York City's West Village, before holding hands and walking the streets in the sunshine. Madden is not the first musician Diaz has been linked to - she previously dated Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto, while the Good Charlotte star enjoyed a high profile romance with socialite Paris Hilton.
Downton Abbey's Joanne Froggatt is to reunite with her former co-star Nigel Harman to work on a West End play. The actors were at the centre of a controversial rape storyline, in which Harman's character attacks the housemaid played by Froggatt, and they will now re-team for a production of David Lindsay-Abaire's play Rabbit Hole.
Froggatt will portray Becca - a mother struggling to cope with the loss of her child - in the play, which will be directed Harman.
The actress tells Britain's Daily Mail, "It's a part I've been waiting forever to play. I totally fell in love with the play the moment I read it... it's heartbreaking, but really funny in parts as well. Becca's very different from Anna. She's American, and she's middle class, and she's going through this traumatic time over her child."
Previews will begin at the Vaudeville Theatre in London on 11 September (14).
Sex and the City star Cynthia Nixon won a Tony Award for her role as Becca in a Broadway production, while Nicole Kidman landed an Oscar nomination for her turn in the 2010 film adaptation.
Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o turned heads at the 2014 Costume Institute Gala in New York on Monday (05Apr14) as she arrived in a feathery mesh design from Prada. The 12 Years a Slave star, who last month (Apr14) was named People magazine's Most Beautiful woman, topped off her latest red carpet outfit for this year's fashion Oscars with a jewelled headband.
Early arrivals at the annual Metropolitan Museum of Art bash included John Legend and his model wife Chrissy Teigen in Ralph Lauren Collection, Latina stars Jessica Alba and Selena Gomez both in Diane Von Furstenberg and Jessica Pare and Zoe Saldana in Michael Kors. Fashion icon Sarah Jessica Parker was stunning as always in a flowing Oscar De La Renta gown, while Nicole Richie and Rita Ora both opted for edgy DKNY designs.
Other fashionable attendees at this year's Met Gala included Anna Kendrick, Rachel McAdams, Suki Waterhouse, Hailee Steinfeld, Dakota Johnson and Kylie Minogue. Meanwhile, British singer Lily Allen, who wore a flattering silver and grey Chanel Couture gown to the fashion world's big night, made the most of her evening with the stars, snapping selfies with the likes of Kanye West, Kim Kardashian, Ora and designer Donatella Versace and posting the photos on her Instagram.com page.
Gwyneth Paltrow put her marriage woes behind her for a night out with the girls on Thursday (17Apr14) as she met up with pals Nicole Richie and Gwen Stefani. Just weeks after announcing her "conscious uncoupling" from Coldplay star Chris Martin, and fresh from a family vacation in the Bahamas, Paltrow was spotted dining with her happily married friends at West Hollywood hotspot Crossroads.
The dinner also marked new mum Stefani's first outing since she returned to the stage to perform with Pharrell Williams at the Coachella festival in California last weekend (12Apr14).
The threesome has become fast friends in recent years and Paltrow and Richie both attended Stefani's baby shower earlier this year (14).
