Amanda Bynes will remain under doctors' supervision at a California psychiatric hospital for another two weeks after she was placed on an involuntary 72-hour hold on Friday (10Oct14).
The troubled Hairspray star has been undergoing treatment at the Las Encinas Hospital in Pasadena since last week, when her parents' attorney and medical experts staged an intervention upon her return to Los Angeles from her adopted New York. The order has since been extended to keep Bynes in care until the end of the month (Oct14), according to Eonline.com. The star, who also underwent similar psychiatric treatment last summer (13) following a string of legal and behavioural issues, had spent an eventful week in the Big Apple, where she was accused of shoplifting and clashing with a fan who had tried to take photos of her during a night out. She ended her stay in New York by sensationally blasting her father Rick on Twitter for sexually abusing her as a child, only to later retract the claims, which have been vehemently denied by her mother Lynn and the 28 year old's older siblings.
Britney Spears' one-time manager Sam Lutfi has confirmed he was the mastermind behind Amanda Bynes' return to Los Angeles, where she is currently seeking psychiatric treatment. The troubled actress flew in to LAX airport on Friday (10Oct14) at the end on eventful day, during which she lost her cool with an airline employee at a New York airport, accused her father of molesting her as a child and then retracting the damning tweets, blaming a microchip in her head for the family attack on social media.
Upon her arrival in Los Angeles, Bynes was placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold.
Now Lutfi, who was linked to Spears at the time of her 2008 psychiatric hospitalisation, has told Access Hollywood host Billy Bush that he helped the Hairspray star get back to Los Angeles.
Lutfi told Bush that he and Bynes struck up a friendship via Twitter.com following the Spears drama six years ago, and she contacted him last week (ends10Oct14) asking for help to get her back to Los Angeles.
The svengali, who spoke to Bush over the phone over the weekend (11-12Oct14), reveals he booked Bynes on a flight from LaGuardia Airport, but she missed it and reached out again. Lutfi reportedly managed to get Bynes on another flight to Los Angeles from John F. Kennedy airport.
Lutfi insists he was not involved in the hospital dash once the actress arrived in California.
Her parents and their lawyer, Tamar Arminak, arranged the hold and Arminak has since revealed the actress' hospitalisation has been extended for 14 more days.
Actress Amanda Bynes has been placed on an involuntary psychiatric hold after arriving in Los Angeles on Friday (10Oct14) following an eventful week in her adopted New York. The troubled star, who was hospitalised last year (13) following a series of legal run-ins and behavioural issues, arrived in California on Friday afternoon, hours after accusing her father of molesting her when she was a child, and then retracting the damning remarks she made on Twitter.com, blaming the "microchip in my brain" for the drama.
Upon her arrival, Bynes was caught ranting at the gathered media via TMZ.com.
In video footage, she rages, "My parents are f**king insane and that's it. I actually feel like an orphan."
Asked about her dad as she made a speedy exit from LAX airport, the 28 year old said, "My father should be put in jail for a very long time."
A family source tells the New York Daily News she was taken from the airport to The London Hotel in West Hollywood, where she was met by her parents' attorney and doctors who convinced her to go to a Pasadena, California hospital.
Earlier in the day, Bynes' mother Lynn and the actress' siblings spoke out to defend her father, Rick, following her sex abuse claims - in a joint statement, her sister and brother said, "We are disturbed beyond words that Amanda would come up with such a fabrication as a way to avoid getting much needed help or treatment. We absolutely give our full unconditional love and support to our wonderful parents."
In her tweets, Bynes claimed she was meeting with a lawyer to get a restraining order against her father.
It's been a very active week for the Hairspray star in the Big Apple - she reportedly attempted to shoplift a hat from a Barneys store, was caught on camera behaving strangely in a boutique and allegedly attacked a fan she caught trying to take photos of her. She also lost her cool at LaGuardia airport in New York early on Friday as she attempted to book a flight out of the city.
Upon her arrival in Los Angeles, Bynes reportedly spoke exclusively to gossip blogger Perez Hilton, and revealed Britney Spears' one-time manager Sam Lutfi was the man behind her flight to Los Angeles.
She said, "Last time I trusted Lutfi he put me in a conservatorship which ended in August I'm not stupid. You are all listening to my brain... I can handle Sam, he just flew me back to L.A. and I'm going to meet some sick lawyers."
Her latest dramas come two weeks after she was arrested and charged with a DUI in Los Angeles. Last year (13), before her hospital stay, Bynes was accused of throwing a bong out a window of her Manhattan apartment during a police raid and starting a fire in the driveway of one of her parents' neighbours. She also found herself in trouble with the law following a series of traffic violations.
Her mother and father were put in charge of their daughter's affairs and she moved in with them upon her release from hospital, agreeing to visit a counsellor twice a week for six months.
Her parents' conservatorship ended in June (14).
Prior to her antics on Friday, they confessed they had no idea as to their daughter's whereabouts.
Troubled Amanda Bynes has recanted her sensational allegations of child abuse against her father, blaming a "microchip" in her brain for causing her to tweet the accusations.
The Hairspray star stunned fans on Friday (10Oct14) when she took to her Twitter.com account and ranted about her dad, Rick, claiming he behaved inappropriately around her for years. In a series of posts, she alleged Rick had been "verbally and physically" abusive to her as a kid and once reportedly asked her to have sex with him. She went on to accuse her mother, Lynn, of failing to put a stop to her husband's "perverted" actions and concluded the damning post by revealing she is seeking a protective order to prevent her father from coming anywhere near her again, adding, "I cannot hear the sound of His incestually charged voice ever again and I'm just being honest... I will not be manipulated or brainwashed by anyone anymore".
Bynes' mom responded to the shocking allegations by defending Rick, insisting she is "heartbroken" for her husband of 47 years. In a statement released by her lawyer, Tamar Arminak, Lynn said, "These allegations stem from Amanda's mental state at the moment. They have no basis in reality. It saddens me beyond belief that my husband's character could be slandered in such a way." The embattled star's older siblings, Jillian O'Keefe and Tommy Bynes, also jumped to their dad's defence, telling TMZ.com, "We are disturbed beyond words that Amanda would come up with such a fabrication as a way to avoid getting much needed help or treatment."
Now Bynes has retracted her headline-grabbing allegations, suggesting her mind has been manipulated by an electronic implant she believes was fitted by doctors during her extended 2013 stay in a mental health facility.
In a bizarre new tweet, she writes, "My dad never did any of those things (I alleged) The microchip in my brain made me say those things but he's the one that ordered them to microchip me (sic)." The actress has been hitting headlines for all the wrong reasons of late - she was arrested for DUI in California in late September (14) and fled to New York, where she clashed with a fan during a night out on Monday (06Oct14) and was accused of shoplifting on Wednesday (08Oct14).
Amanda Bynes' mother has been left stunned and saddened by accusations her husband sexually abused the embattled actress when she was a child.
The Hairspray star, who was hospitalized for mental health treatment last year (13), took to her Twitter.com blog on Friday morning (10Oct14) and hit out at her dad Rick, alleging he acted inappropriately with her for years. In a series of posts, she wrote, "My dad was verbally and physically abuse (sic) to me as a child... I need to tell the truth about my dad... He called me ugly as a child and then asked me if I wanted to have sex with him and i did not know how to respond and I said no and then I was forced to live with my dad which was a total nightmare... "My dad fondled himself in front of me so many times that i started recording him on my phone in hopes of catching him saying or doing something inappropriate around me so I could get him arrested & put in jail for the rest of his perverted life."
She went on to claim that her mother, Lynn, was aware of her husband's alleged behaviour and did nothing to stop it. Bynes continued, "My mom knows that my father's literally and physically incestual towards his own daughter and the fact that she never called the police on Him embarrasses me to no end".
The 28 year old concluded the damning post by claiming she is seeking a protective order to prevent her father from coming anywhere near her again, adding, "I am meeting with a lawyer to get a restraining order against my dad... I cannot hear the sound of His incestually charged voice ever again and I'm just being honest... I will not be manipulated or brainwashed by anyone anymore". Now her mother has spoken out about the star's claims, revealing she's "heartbroken" for her husband of 47 years. In a statement released by her lawyer, Tamar Arminak, Lynn says, "Rick has been the best father and husband a family can ask for. He has never abused Amanda or our other children physically or sexually. These accusations are absolutely horrible and could not be further from the truth! "These allegations stem from Amanda's mental state at the moment. They have no basis in reality. It saddens me beyond belief that my husband's character could be slandered in such a way."
Bynes' Twitter rant came amid reports suggesting her concerned parents were planning an intervention to have her committed to a mental health facility in the New York area. The actress learned of her mom and dad's plans early on Friday and headed to New York's LaGuardia Airport in a bid to flee the state and perhaps the country. However, she was escorted out of the building after losing her temper and shouting at a ticket agent, according to TMZ.com.
Bynes returned to her adopted New York last week (ends03Oct14), shortly after she was arrested for DUI in California. She has been hitting the headlines for her bizarre behavior in the Big Apple, where she reportedly lashed out at a fan during a night out on Monday (06Oct14) and was accused of shoplifting from top department store Barneys New York on Wednesday (08Oct14). She denied attempting to steal a $200 (£125) hat and branded the incident a "misunderstanding".
Her parents recently admitted they had had no idea of Bynes' whereabouts since their conservatorship ended in early September (14). The couple took charge of its daughter's affairs last year (13) after a series of headline-grabbing legal and behavioural issues landed the actress in a psychiatric hospital. Since her release, Bynes, who was living with her parents in California, had been able to keep herself out of trouble and the headlines - until her recent DUI arrest.
Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has threatened to sue editors at U.S. tabloid In Touch over the "lies" they have been printing about her over the past week.
The Hairspray star took to Twitter.com on Thursday (09Oct14) to blast the publication's bosses for the way they've been covering her return to New York City following a DUI arrest in Los Angeles. An unnamed In Touch reporter claims he has been speaking to Bynes, who reportedly told him she was miserable living with her parents after she was released from a lengthy hospital stay last year (13), and insisted she needed a nose job after recently having cysts removed from her face. Bynes has attacked the reporting, insisting she has "hired the best lawyer in New York City" and plans to sue In Touch for "lying about me entirely".
In a series of posts on Twitter.com, she adds, "I am not insane and they lied about me in every way... They continue to write lies about me and it really hurts my feelings because they are calling me insane and I'm actually really smart... They are utterly insane and lying to the public about me. "I'm also suing Star magazine for doing the exact same thing and the true definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and... Expecting different results. "So I'm laughing all the way to the bank because I will sue them all... I will sue any one in the media who lies about me and says I ever gave them an interview when I never gave literally any magazine a quote."
But she has confirmed reports suggesting she is engaged to marry her California-based boyfriend, adding, "I am getting married and my boyfriend and I are going to be on the cover People magazine."
In Touch editors have since responded to Bynes' tweets, and have issued a photo of the actress chatting to their reporter as proof they are not making up quotes from her. A statement from a representative for the company reads: "After identifying themselves, two of our reporters spent the afternoon with Amanda Bynes on Sunday, Oct. 5. She was aware that they were from Bauer (publishing house). At one point, she even discussed writing a column for the magazine. Every word of our account is accurate and we hope that Amanda gets the help that she needs."
Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has branded an alleged shoplifting incident at a top Manhattan department store a "misunderstanding", insisting she was attempting to get away from an eager fan who was "harassing" her. The Hairspray star was detained by security guards at Barneys New York on Wednesday afternoon (08Oct14) after she reportedly attempted to walk out without paying for a $200 (£125) hat she had placed on her head.
A New York Police Department spokesperson tells People magazine that cops responded after "Bynes placed a hat on her head and left the store. Security brought her back in and called the police, but the security decided to release her... She was gone when the NYPD arrived on the scene."
No charges were filed against Bynes, but she signed a no-trespass affidavit, which bans her from entering Barneys in future.
The actress is now opening up about the incident, telling the publication that the entire situation was just a result of her attempting to get away from pushy fans and a miscommunication among store employees.
She explains, "I was walking out of the store to get my handbag out of the car. I had been harassed by a man - a man and this woman were basically trying to take my picture inside the store, and so I asked them to stop taking it, but they wouldn't...
"I walked out of the store, and the sensor went off. I didn't realize I was wearing my cap. And the cap - I was purchasing it, and I was actually still shopping."
The incident took place just two days after she was accused of lashing out at a fan while partying at a nightclub in the city on Monday (06Oct14). Reports suggest Bynes lost her temper after realising she was being photographed by curious revellers.

However, the 28 year old won't be welcome back at the store anytime soon - she had to sign a no-trespass agreement before security officials agreed to let her walk.

Don't believe anything the tabloids are saying about me. They dislike me for some odd reason & they continue to insult me everyday... Treat others how you want to be treated. The truth will set you free."
Bynes was charged with driving under the influence of drugs in California last month (Sep14) and is currently on bail. She recently told America's In Touch magazine that she is engaged to a 19 year old who works in a bait shop.
