Actress Kaylee Defer has given birth to her first child with her rocker boyfriend Michael Fitzpatrick. The Gossip Girl star, 26, became a first-time mother on Friday (20Sep13) when she welcomed a little boy named Theodore Ignatius Fitzpatrick, who weighed in at eight pounds and 13 ounces (3.7 kilograms).
Fitzpatrick was due to perform a show with his band Fitz and The Tantrums in San Diego, California on Friday (20Sep13), but cancelled the gig after DeFer went into labour.
A message posted on the band's Facebook.com page after the birth reads, "Congratulations to our partner in crime Fitz and our beautiful friend Kaylee on the birth of their beautiful son. The world has another superstar!!"
Pregnant star Kaylee Defer is planning an acting hiatus once her baby arrives so she can focus on raising her son. The former Gossip Girl actress and her boyfriend, Fitz and The Tantrums singer Michael Fitzpatrick, are expecting their first child together later this year (13).
DeFer accepts her acting ambitions will have to take a backseat once she becomes a mother, and she is already eyeing other jobs behind the scenes.
She tells Us Weekly, "I've actually been thinking about venturing into new creative outlets. Mostly writing, still in the acting genre. I have a lot of time on my hands. I've been wanting to take a break and now I can do the things I didn't have a chance to do before."
The 26 year old previously revealed her doctor is "95 per cent sure" she is carrying a boy: "We think it's a boy. Well, the doctor is 95 per cent sure it's a boy. The baby was really shy that day (of the ultrasound), he was sleeping."
Gossip Girl star Kaylee Defer is pregnant with her first child. The 26-year-old actress is expecting a baby with her singer boyfriend Michael Fitzpatrick, but the couple has no plans to pick out a name until they meet their son.
DeFer, who is 20 weeks along, tells Us Weekly, "We weren't planning on getting pregnant, so right now we're just enjoying being pregnant. We think it's a boy. Well, the doctor is 95 per cent sure it's a boy. The baby was really shy that day (of the ultrasound scan), he was sleeping. We had a girl name (picked out) and when we found out it was probably a boy, for some reason we felt like we needed to meet him (before choosing a name)."
The mum-to-be admits she is embracing her pregnancy because it means she can indulge in her favourite foods, adding, "I've definitely been cooking and baking a lot, but not necessarily the healthiest things in the world. I've been on a diet since I was 16. Not really, but I have had to watch my physique for the last 10 years of my life. It's my job, and now I'm just really guilt-free and enjoying being pregnant, sleeping a lot, eating a lot. If I don't eat, I get sick. I'm constantly eating and snacking. I just had two all-beef hot dogs."
Last night was the beginning of the end of our time with the most scandalous Upper East Siders. And for a show that lives for the OMGs, Season 6’s premiere left us with one big WTF.
After a summer apart, Lily (Kelly Rutherford) paid a visit to Rufus’ (Matthew Settle) Brooklyn loft only to find her immature, raspy-voiced nemesis Ivy (Kaylee DeFer) living there. For some odd reason, Lily jumped to the conclusion that Rufus and Ivy were sleeping together. Of course, this was a ridiculous claim to make. Ivy's not only a ripe 22, but she also entered into their family as a relative (even though she was merely impersonating a relative.)
Before we get to last night's WTF moment, however, let’s back up for a quick history on how Ivy began living with Rufus. We, as viewers, know Ivy is only living with Rufus to take Lily down. Last season’s finale showed us that Lola (aka the real Charlie Rhodes) gave her half of CeCe’s inheritance to Ivy in exchange for revenge on Lily. (Lily had Lola’s mother Carol arrested and charged with fraud after she hired Ivy to impersonate Charlie to gain access to Charlie’s trust fund. Head spinning yet?) Rufus is still under the assumption that Ivy is broke and homeless without any friends or allies. He took her in and has been helping her acquire an art gallery. In the season premiere, Ivy left a message for Lola saying how easy it was to manipulate Rufus, and that was made crystal clear at the end of the episode when IVY SLEPT WITH RUFUS.
Let that completely gross you out sink in for a moment.
Cue: Screaming at the TV. Yes, Gossip Girl is a show that prides itself on being scandalous and shocking, often delving into the unexpected and flipping everything on its head. But this was about a billion steps too far. It’s not just bordering on wrong, it passed the border miles ago and then began fleeing to the next continent wrong.
It didn't help that there was no organic buildup to the coupling. Rufus has always acted as a father figure to Ivy, taking her in when he thought she had nowhere else to go. Helping her get on her feet. Taking care of her. But when Ivy went in for the kiss, instead of shoving her away with the vigor of someone who understands that familial bonds only go so far, he relented. I’m sorry, I have to give credit where it’s due. Rufus did at first “protest” the kiss by saying Ivy’s name. Woop dee doo. All Ivy had to do was utter “I’m not a kid,” and It. Was. Unfortunately. On. Sigh. Men.
GG didn’t leave anything up in the air, either. This was not just a one and done kiss. When Dan (Penn Badgley) stopped by the loft later, he was treated to the image of seeing his dad naked in bed with Ivy. His reaction was about the same as I’m sure every other viewer: wide-eyed horror, followed by a stealthy retreat out the door before he was noticed.
Am I overreacting here? Or was the moment totally within the realm of possibility in the world that GG has created? Weigh in below if you feel the same way I do or if you disagree in our poll!

The 25-year-old actress, who plays sneaky Ivy Dickens on the hit U.S. TV show, and her former beau decided to end their longtime relationship earlier this year (12).
She tells Us Weekly, "We just separated. It's OK. It really is. I was engaged for a long time and this is me being single. I'm totally OK with it, so I'm spreading my love now.

The 100th episode of the series, set in Manhattan, is due to air in the U.S. on Monday (30Jan12), and to mark the milestone Bloomberg headed to the Silvercup Studios set on Thursday (26Jan12).
Stars including Blake Lively, Penn Badgley and Kelly Rutherford met the mayor, and he's delighted with the interest they've generated in the Big Apple.
He says, "Here's a hot tip for Gossip Girl: Spotted - 100,000 New Yorkers making a living from the film and television industry. Could 2011 have been the City's busiest year ever for television production?
"We're proud to be home to employers like Gossip Girl, Warner Bros. and Silvercup Studios, and I want to congratulate Gossip Girl on its 100th episode and nearly five seasons of generating jobs and drawing fans to New York."
And the cast was overjoyed with Bloomberg's approval - in a post on Twitter.com, actor Matthew Settle writes, "The mayor was funny. Pretended to be a casual GG fan but then knew all this detail about the show!", while Kaylee DeFer added, "Mayor Bloomberg just honored us with our own day! Happy Gossip Girl Day!"
The pair was filming upcoming horror Darkroom, which also stars Law & Order's Elizabeth Rohm, at a bar on Staten Island, New York on Thursday night (29Jun11) in scenes which show their characters embroiled in a brawl with club bouncers.
However, the fake fight didn't run smoothly - DeFer was left with bruised ribs and Stanulis had a twisted knee, according to New York Post gossip column Page Six.
The stars carried on and re-filmed the scene before seeking medical treatment.
