"It was not a paid gig... We've been friends for a long time, he signed me to my first record deal so I wasn't going to charge him. I'm charging everybody else though!" R&B star John Legend performed for free at pal Kanye West's May (14) wedding to reality TV beauty Kim Kardashian.
Kim Kardashian had no idea opera superstar Andrea Bocelli would be singing at her wedding until she began walking down the aisle. The reality TV star wed rapper Kanye West in a lavish ceremony in Florence, Italy last month (May14), and guests including John Legend and director Steve McQueen watched as she arrived to the sound of Bocelli's singing.
However, Kardashian thought the song was pre-recorded because West had hired Bocelli without her knowledge.
She tells Dailymail.co.uk, "I got up the altar and didn't even see him (Bocelli) standing there. And I turned around when my sisters were helping me fix my veil, and I did a double-take - I thought it was a CD of him singing.
"He sounded so amazing. And it was really him. I was blown away. It was so Kanye to have him there. I should have expected that.
"He seems to be able to... surprise me and that's hard to do. The fact that he can surprise me is really good."
Proving that there’s nothing Hollywood won’t reboot if given then chance, a new Scooby Doo movie is reportedly in the works at Warner Bros. According to Variety, the studio is looking to send Scooby, Shaggy, and the gang on another spooky adventure, which will be written by Randall Green. The news comes just a year after Warner Bros. also announced plans for an animated Scooby Doo movie, which is reportedly still on track. Though the last live-action Mystery Gang outings, 2002’s Scooby Doo and its sequel Monsters Unleashed, did well commercially, they weren’t received well by critics and fans of the series, which is why it’s surprising that Warner Bros. would be so intent at taking a third shot at big-screen adventure. After all, the live-action Scooby Doo’s were only slightly better than Yogi Bear. There are plenty of other great classic Hanna-Barbera properties that would make for great films, so why does Scooby get a third shot at big screen success? Think about all of the possibilities that are open…

You're welcome, Hollywood.
Sir Elton John paid tribute to late U.S. radio and TV star Casey Kasem as he closed the Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival on Sunday night (15Jun14). The Rocket Man legend brought the curtain down on the rural Tennessee music event by performing on the final night of the 2014 gathering.
The show marked the star's U.S. festival debut and he told the crowd, "This is my first ever festival in America and I know it's the best one." During his career-spanning set, he took a moment to remember Kasem, who died early on Sunday.
Elton John credited the TV and radio star with partly inspiring his music career as he often listened to Kasem's American Top 40 radio countdown in the 1970s. He said of his hero, "Travel safely, my good man," before performing hit track Don't Let The Sun Go Down on Me.
The music superstar also welcomed special guest Ben Folds to the stage for a duet of Grey Seal, before his set ended with a fireworks display. Other acts to play at the festival over the weekend (13-15Jun14) included Kanye West, Lauryn Hill, Frank Ocean, Jack White and Skrillex.
Actors Eric Idle, Chris O'dowd, Russell Brand and David Walliams are among the stars who have paid tribute to beloved British funnyman Rik Mayall, who died on Monday (09Jun14) at the age of 56. The shocking death has rocked the U.K. entertainment industry and tributes have since flooded in for Mayall, who established himself as a stand-up star in comedy troupe The Comic Strip, a group which also featured his college pal and future professional partner Adrian 'Ade' Edmondson and Dawn French and Jennifer Saunders.
He rose to national fame as one of four students sharing a house in hit sitcom The Young Ones in 1982 and went on to enjoy a slew of iconic roles, including as a mean-spirited politician in The New Statesman and an arrogant military officer in Rowan Atkinson's comedy Blackadder. He also re-teamed with Edmondson to play a pair of hopeless single men in slapstick show Bottom.
Fellow funnyman Walliams was among the first to take to Twitter.com to express his sadness at Mayall's loss, sharing a video clip of his role in Blackadder and writing, "I am heartbroken that my comedy idol growing up Rik Mayall has died. He made me want to be a comedian."
Simon Pegg simply posted YouTube footage of Mayall in The Young Ones with fans, while Brand tweets, "And all the grown-ups will say, 'But why are the kids crying?' And the kids will say, 'Haven't you heard? Rick (sic) is dead' RIP".
Irish actor O'Dowd adds, "Very sad to hear about Rik Mayall's passing. 'Bottom' was a huge part of my youth", and director Edgar Wright posts, "Shocked and saddened that a comedy hero is gone; for those who grew up on The Young Ones, Rik Mayall was one of funniest performers ever."
Monty Python veteran Idle tweets, "Very sad to hear of the passing of Rik Mayall. Far too young. A very funny and talented man", and Blackadder producer and writer John Lloyd tells the BBC, "It's really a dreadful piece of news. He was the most extraordinarily good actor as well as being an amazing stand-up comics. Apart from being great company, he was a great professional."
Meanwhile, his close friend Edmondson has also issued a statement about the years they spent working together, declaring, "They were some of the most carefree, stupid days I ever had and I feel privileged to have shared them with him."
Mayall's cause of death has yet to be determined, but a spokesman for Scotland Yard police reveals paramedics were called to the comedian's house in Barnes, south-west London at 1.20pm local time, when "a man, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene". His passing is not believed to be suspicious.
His death comes 16 years after the comedian was left in a coma for several days in 1998 following a quad bike accident near his home in south-west England. He survived the scare but suffered memory problems as a result of the crash.
In recent years, Mayall had concentrated mainly on voiceover work and TV shorts.
