Country singer Keith Urban was forced to cancel a charity concert performance on Thursday (11Sep14) following the death of his wife Nicole Kidman's father.
Dr. Anthony Kidman was pronounced dead in hospital after suffering a fall while visiting Nicole's sister Antonia in Singapore. Local police are investigating the incident.
The You'll Think of Me hitmaker was scheduled to perform at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks, California on Thursday night but pulled out of the gig and boarded a private jet to be by his wife's side in Nashville, Tennessee, according to TMZ.com. Kenny Loggins agreed to fill in for Urban at the last minute.
Meanwhile, Kidman's publicist Leslee Dart has issued a statement about the tragedy, which reads: "Nicole and her family are in shock by the sudden death of her father. She appreciates the outpouring of support and kindly requests privacy during this very difficult time."
Sofia Vergara's ex-fiance holds no hard feelings against the actress for moving on with movie hunk Joe Manganiello so soon after their split. The Colombian beauty ended her relationship with businessman Nick Loeb in May (14) and weeks later, she was spotted on a brunch date with the Magic Mike actor in New Orleans, Louisiana, where Vergara was shooting a movie.
Vergara and Manganiello have been open about their budding romance in the press, with the Modern Family star gushing at the Primetime Emmy Awards last month (Aug14), "We're having a lot of fun. He's a really funny guy, which is something that's really important to me, and a really nice guy."
And Loeb admits he fully understands why Vergara is attracted to Manganiello, telling the New York Post, "He's a great-looking guy. I guess if I was a girl, I'd be dating him, too."
Former Rainbow bandmates Joe Lynn Turner and Ritchie Blackmore are working on a top secret reunion project. Turner, who was one of four singers who fronted the band between 1975 and 1995, has revealed he and the guitar great could soon be back onstage together, but he has been sworn to secrecy.
He tells Rock Overdose, "I'm going to be honest with you right now... It's (reunion) very possible. Last year I wouldn't say it, but this year I say it. It's a very big possibility that something might happen. I heard talk of it, and all I can say is I'm not supposed to talk about it. But I'm talking to you now and all I want to do is say 'Yes'. We may have a reunion, and it would be phenomenal."
Blackmore was the only full-time member of Rainbow and as well as Turner, his frontmen were Graham Bonnet, Doogie White and the late Ronnie James Dio.
Girls Gone Wild founder Joe Francis has become a wanted man after skipping a court date relating to a recent altercation at his former office in Los Angeles. The adult filmmaker and reality TV star was taken into custody in May (14) after fighting with a security guard and a member of staff at the Girls Gone Wild headquarters, which he is banned from entering due to a restraining order against him.
He was due to attend a hearing in a California court on Thursday (28Aug14), but he was a no-show, prompting the judge to issue a warrant for his arrest.
Francis is facing a slew of misdemeanour charges, including battery, making criminal threats, trespassing and disobeying a court order, reports TMZ.com.
Bosses at Francis' company filed for bankruptcy last year (13) and the soft porn business was reportedly taken over by a new owner.
Actress Jaime Pressly has cleared up reports she had a full mastectomy after developing mastitis while breastfeeding her baby son in 2007. The Joe Dirt star opened up about her health crisis during a recent appearance on U.S. TV chat show The Talk, revealing she had no idea that anything was wrong until lumps started appearing on her breasts in 2011.
She explained, "I have a high threshold for pain, I was a dancer for 25 years and when I had my son I got mastitis. I didn't know because I thought it was regular breastfeeding pain, and four years later I had lumps (all over my breasts).
"(I) went to the doctor, he took the scar tissue out of (one breast) and then six months later, because when you open it up it spreads, I had to go back and do (the other breast). Then, I had another doctor and they had to do almost a full mastectomy.
"I still have some breast tissue left, just from the mastitis because it mutated into something else because it sat dormant for a while. It was the craziest thing. Thank God it wasn't (cancer)."
But Pressly fears her big reveal may have been a little too dramatic and now she's playing down the crisis.
In a new chat with news show Extra, she explains, "I went in for surgery to remove scar tissue, and some like lumps were basically caused by bacteria I got during breast feeding, like a mastitis. Once the doctor got inside he realised it was in more areas than he thought, and two-and-a-half hours turned into seven-and-a-half hours of surgery... To put all the rumours to rest, I am fine."
Def Leppard have postponed their upcoming Las Vegas residency so they can record a new album. The British group was planning to hit Sin City for a string of shows in November (14), but frontman Joe Elliott has revealed he and his bandmates are desperate to get back in the studio to work on a follow-up to 2008's Songs From The Sparkle Lounge.
He says, "We are going to go back (to Vegas) and probably do Viva! Pyromania, but it'll not be until towards the end of next year because we have a new record in the making."
Def Leppard are currently on tour with KISS and Elliott adds, "When this tour ends in mid-September, we'll take a couple of weeks off to see our families and then we're going to get back on the horse and finish the new album.
"We did a month of writing and recording in February and for two weeks in May. We're going to spend the rest of the year when the tour is done recording this album so we can get it out next spring.
"If we can do that, we'll get back on the road by April. I think we're going to head off to Australia, Japan, the Far East, South Africa and then Europe. I think we're going to be back in Vegas in 2015."
The band's Viva! Hysteria gigs at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino last year (13) proved to be a big hit with fans.

Rocker Mike Dirnt is following his Green Day bandmate Billie Joe Armstrong into the movie industry by signing up to produce a new independent film. The bassist has teamed up with the American Idiot hitmakers' manager Pat Magnarella to co-produce upcoming drama Crickets, penned by his longtime pal and bar owner Alfredo Botello.
Crickets follows the relationship between two estranged brothers after one is diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Dirnt, who revealed in May (14) that his wife Brittney had been diagnosed with breast cancer, admits he was drawn to the project by the moving storyline, telling The Hollywood Reporter, "I've been - and a lot of people have been - affected by illnesses and it's a very relatable thing."
He adds, "I'm just kind of tired of junk food movies. Here's something that's a feel good, feel bad and feel everything movie."
In addition to producing, Dirnt will also help with the movie's soundtrack.
Green Day have previously contributed to film soundtracks for The Simpsons Movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2, while Armstrong has also tried his hand at acting, with roles in TV series Haunted, medical drama Nurse Jackie and forthcoming musical drama Like Sunday, Like Rain.

Joe Manganiello has embarked on a new romance with Sofia Vergara, days after the Magic Mike hunk confessed the Colombian beauty was his ideal woman.
The actor recently admitted he was a big admirer of Vergara's, telling People magazine, "She's got that Latin thing going. She's got the butt, she's got curves, she's got a beautiful face, beautiful hair, just gorgeous. And she's feisty!"
Now sources tell UsMagazine.com the sexy stars, who had previously been introduced to one another at the White House Correspondents Dinner in May (14), have started dating.
They reportedly went public with their fledgling relationship on Sunday (06Jul14), when they dined together at Dizzy's Cafe in New Orleans, Louisiana, where Vergara is shooting new movie Don't Mess With Texas.
One insider says, "It's very, very new. They're having fun and getting to know each other. "They were very friendly and took pictures with other diners... They held each other and kissed several times."
Vergara ended her engagement to businessman Nick Loeb in May (14), shortly after attending the White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington, D.C. together. They had been dating on and off for four years.
Magic Mike hunk Joe Manganiello has set his sights on romancing newly-single Sofia Vergara because he's convinced the "feisty" actress would be a great match for his "passionate" personality.
The actor, who has just been voted People magazine's Hottest Bachelor, has been single since splitting from fiancee Audra Marie in 2011, and although he has since been linked to French cabaret dancer Veronique Lazoore and model Bridget Peters, he admits he is still looking for 'The One'.
He tells the publication, "I'm at my best when I have someone to wake up next to and come home to. I know she's out there." Manganiello, who is part Sicilian, reveals he is looking for a woman who can handle his "hot-blooded" and "passionate" personality, stating, "If you don't like spicy, then maybe I'm not for you. I like hugs and kisses and snuggling. I'm a physical person. If you're not, then it ain't gonna (sic) work. Also, passive-aggressive and sarcastic does not work for me. It's such a turn-off."
Discussing his ideal woman, he says, "Girls that do squats. I love a butt. Sofia Vergara, that's it. She's got that Latin thing going. She's got the butt, she's got curves, she's got a beautiful face, beautiful hair, just gorgeous. And she's feisty!"
And Manganiello insists any potential partner will have to be able to "keep up" with his crazy lifestyle. He explains, "I haven't met someone who can keep up. For somebody to have her own identity and maturity, and then to be available enough or adventurous enough to pack a suitcase, grab a passport and take off with me for a year or two, takes a very special person. You wonder, 'Is this person going to be able to handle this big life...?'"
"Sometimes I sit in my house and I look at how far I've come in life, and it's always so much better when you have somebody to share that with."
Manganiello has a shot at dating Vergara - she split from her fiance Nick Loeb in May (14).

May began his career as a director of low-budget crime films and, by the late 1910s, was running his own film empire comprising studios, laboratories and real-estate concerns. (One of several directors who got their start under contract to May was Fritz Lang.) After inflation put an end to his tycoon status in the mid-20s May worked as a director and producer for other companies; his greatest achievement of this period was the expressionistic "Asphalt" (1929), a classic "street movie" about a prostitute and a policeman. After being forced to leave Germany in 1933 May made quick stops in France and England before moving to the US, where he made mostly forgettable films. With his actress wife Mia May (he adopted her name rather than vice versa) he later ran Hollywood's Blue Danube restaurant.
