Worked as an apprentice to Francis Ford Coppola at his Zoetrope Studios prior to making her on-screen debut in 1982, with a minor role in his big-budget flick One From the Heart.
As a result of moving around Europe during her childhood, is fluent in French and German; after graduating from high school in Austria, moved back to the United States. 
Studied acting at the Lee Strasberg Institute in Los Angeles. 
Breakthrough role was as call girl Lana in 1983's wildly popular Risky Business.
Forayed into stage acting in 1988, in the Pasadena Playhouse production of Born Yesterday.
Moved to Europe with her family when she was five, after her stepfather, Richard De Mornay, passed away.
Appeared in the music video for Jefferson Starship's 1985 hit "Sara."
