The millionaire reality TV star, along with her sister Nicky and mother Kathy, was given the accolade by the Starlight Children's Foundation for her philanthropy efforts.
Following a silent auction and a cocktail dinner at the Century Plaza Hyatt Hotel in Los Angeles, the Hiltons were presented with their Heart of Gold trophies.
Hilton took to Twitter.com after the event to tell her fans about the emotional night, writing, "Such a beautiful evening tonight accepting my award for the humanitarian work I do with the children of the Starlight Foundation. Such a heartwarming night listening to all the parents' speeches. I was so touched that I cried.
"These families and their children go through so much and my heart and prayers are with them. It's such an amazing feeling to give back and make a difference in someone's life. I am so honoured to be apart of such an amazing cause."
And the following day Hilton continued her charity work by taking part in a run alongside singer Fergie, her husband Josh Duhamel and Glee star Dianna Agron, to raise money for the Japanese earthquake and tsunami relief effort.
The movie icon died of congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, and stars around the world have been paying their respects.
Joining the salutes to the great Dame, socialite Hilton has applauded the actress for being "an inspiration". She has posted a wedding photograph of Taylor and her grand-uncle Conrad 'Nicky' Hilton on her website, and writes, "So sad to hear about Elizabeth Taylor. She was so beautiful, such an inspiration and an icon. She was an amazing humanitarian and brought smiles to everyone around the world. She was always so sweet to me and I will really miss her."
Meanwhile, Brits Osbourne and Beckham took to Twitter.com to pay tribute to the late star.
Osbourne writes, "I am so sad to hear about Elizabeth Taylor! Rip you will always be one of my heros! (sic)"
And Beckham adds, "The world has lost a truly iconic beauty, inside and out. Elizabeth Taylor will be deeply missed."
Osbourne's mum Sharon has also posted a tribute on Twitter.com, writing, "Elizabeth Taylor was my idol growing up. Truly beautiful inside & out. She was the last of the real Hollywood."
And another leading celebrity lady, Jane Fonda, offers: "I knew elizabeth Taylor and I can tell you she was kind, brave, generous and loyal. I am sad."
Police stopped Hilton's vehicle after noticing she was talking on her cell phone while driving her luxury car through Beverly Hills.
The star was then handed a citation ticket, which will cost her around $100 (£62.50), and allowed to leave the scene, reports TMZ.com.
"My girl Jaime King and I committed the ultimate fashion crime. Showing up at the SAME event in the SAME dress." Stylish socialite NICKY HILTON was left red-faced at a fashion event on Wednesday (09Mar11), when she turned up in the same outfit as actress JAIME KING.
The reality TV star passes the milestone on Thursday (17Feb11), but she began celebrating two days early when Waits surprised her with a bright yellow Lexus, a day after the pair enjoyed a romantic Valentine's Day meal together.
Hilton was photographed hugging and kissing Waits after the sports car was delivered to her driveway.
And the socialite followed it up by staging her first 30th birthday bash - on Tuesday night she was joined by 300 friends, including rapper Lil Wayne, comedienne Kathy Griffin, and sister Nicky, at a 1920s-themed party in the Hollywood Hills.
The heiress wore a red basque and feathery skirt for the Pimps and Showgirls party, and told her followers on Twitter.com: "So amazing when Lil Wayne stopped by to give me a birthday present. Everyone at the party loved seeing him!"
Hilton looks set to continue the celebrations in style - earlier this month (Feb11) she revealed she is planning a series of parties to mark the big day, saying, "It's a big birthday so I'm going to be going to a lot of places to have parties: Los Angeles, New York, Las Vegas."
The redhead became friendly with Hilton after they filmed U.S. reality TV show My Life On The D List together, and The Simple Life star invited Griffin to her annual Halloween bash last month (Oct10).
Griffin planned to go as a sailor - and the blonde beauty encouraged her to sex up the outfit.
She tells the Las Vegas Review Journal, "It was stripper shoes, fishnets and a sailor minidress. You've gotta bring the heat when you're going to a Paris Hilton party.
"If you go to a Paris Hilton Halloween party, everybody is a 'naughty something'. Her sister Nicky wasn't just Minnie Mouse. She was a sexy, naughty Minnie Mouse."
The socialite and her partner enjoyed an evening out at the Boa Steakhouse in Los Angeles with her sister Nicky and some friends, but as the couple was driving away from the restaurant, the car they were travelling in allegedly clipped a female snapper.
Waits, who was behind the wheel, allegedly sped off after the accident, while paramedics were called to the scene to treat the unnamed woman, who was taken by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
The former casino worker is said to have later returned to the scene without his famous girlfriend and spoken to police about the incident. He was allegedly cited for hit-and-run and allowed to leave the scene, according to TMZ.com.
The socialite jetted to Asia on Monday (20Sep10) just hours after she accepted a one-year suspended sentence in Las Vegas for possessing cocaine.
She was stopped by officials on arrival at Narita Airport in Tokyo on Tuesday (21Sep10) over her drug conviction and was questioned for several hours.
The heiress was ordered to stay at a nearby hotel while a decision was pending on whether to allow her to enter the country - but on Wednesday Hilton boarded a plane bound for the U.S.
As she headed for the departure lounge, she said, "I'm going back home. I look forward to coming back to Japan in future and I love everyone and can't wait to see my fans when I get back."
In a post on her Twitter.com blog, she added: "About to take off. Going home now. So dissappointed (sic) to miss my fans in Asia. I promise to come back soon. I love you all! Love Paris xoxo."
Hilton was due to travel around the Far East with her sister Nicky to promote her chain of fashion shops and launch her new fragrance, Tease, but the entire trip - which included stops in Indonesia and Malaysia - has now been cancelled.
The socialite was quizzed by border authorities over her recent cocaine possession conviction upon her arrival in Tokyo - she was handed a one-year suspended sentence on Monday (20Sep10) and ordered to attend a substance abuse programme following her arrest in Las Vegas last month (Aug10).
Hilton jetted off to Japan with her designer sister Nicky shortly after the court appearance but her travel plans have been thrown into chaos after she was banned from entering the country.
A source tells WENN, "She was questioned by a Tokyo customs officer for many hours to determine whether they should allow her to enter Japan as they can reject people convicted by drug cases to enter our country.
"It seems at the moment that Japanese customs will not allow her to enter our country due to her arrest for cocaine possession in Las Vegas last month."
A statement issued by her representative, Dawn Miller, reads, "Paris Hilton was delayed by immigration authorities at a Japanese airport this evening after arriving for business obligations planned many months earlier.
"Paris was contractually bound to her business trip and didn't want to let down her brands and many Asian fans."
As a result of her border troubles, Hilton has been forced to call off a press meeting in Tokyo on Wednesday (22Sep10).
The hotel heiress has been allowed to check into an airport hotel while officials investigate the matter further and Hilton is reportedly undecided about whether to wait until the issue is resolved or leave the country and continue on to the next destination on her tour of the Far East, reports TMZ.com.
Hilton's business trip was also due to take her to Indonesia and Malaysia.
The socialite was handed a one-year suspended sentence on Monday (20Sep10) and ordered to attend a substance abuse program after she was caught with the drug in Las Vegas last month (Aug10).
And it appears her woes aren't going away - sources in Tokyo tell WENN Hilton was stopped and questioned for several hours at Narita Airport after jetting in with her sister Nicky on Tuesday.
Shortly after receiving her sentence on Monday, Hilton was seen boarding a private plane and she took to her Twitter.com page to tell fans about her trip to the Far East to undertake a promotional tour of her Asian fashion shops, unveil her 2010 Fall/Winter collection and launch her new fragrance, Tease.
The hotel heiress posted a picture of herself and Nicky grinning shortly after arriving at the airport in Tokyo - but their joy quickly turned to despair when Hilton was taken to one side by officials and grilled about her recent drug conviction.
It was unclear whether Hilton has been allowed to enter Japan as WENN went to press.
