Country star Wynonna Judd has joined the celebrities making strides with fashionable footwear after creating a new shoe line, titled Good Sole. The collection is available at top U.S. boutiques like Fred Segal.
Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon has warned celebrity jewellers to be more vigilant of imposters after a thief managed to con Los Angeles store staff into handing over gems by posing as his assistant. The unidentified suspect reportedly called the Santa Monica, California branch of top brand Fred Segal last week (ends17Nov13) and told clerks his boss needed some jewellery immediately.
A woman at the store agreed to take the items to the Roosevelt Hotel, where another man, claiming to be a security guard, promised to take the pricey items up to the stars' suite and come back with the cash. The man never returned.
Now Cannon has spoken out about the incident, insisting he's no stranger to imposters attempting to cash in by using his name.
He tells TMZ.com, "That's crazy man... but a lot crazier stuff has happened. I mean, people have stolen my identity before, people have charged like, over $200,000 to my Amex (American Express credit card), all types of stuff... That's part of the sacrifices we make as celebrities and being in the public eye that somebody can just grab your name, go online, do whatever they want to do, say they're part of your crew.
"But I pray for those tortured souls, real talk, if somebody gotta do that, that's a dirty thing."
And Cannon insists he would always handle requests personally so jewellers and other business owners know who they are dealing with: "If I want some jewellery from you, I'mma (sic) call you directly!"
Mariah Carey's husband Nick Cannon has found his name linked to a bizarre jewellery heist after an imposter pretended to be his assistant and conned staff at top Los Angeles store Fred Segal to hand over gems at a Hollywood hotel. The unidentified man reportedly called the Santa Monica branch of the store, stated he worked for Cannon, and told staff his boss needed some jewellery immediately.
According to TMZ.com, a woman at the store agreed to take the select jewellery items to the Roosevelt Hotel, where she was met by another man who claimed to be a security guard.
He offered to take the goods up to Cannon's room and return with cash, but he disappeared.
It is not clear how much the stolen jewellery was worth.
A decade-long gap between sequels could leave a franchise stale but in the case of Men in Black 3 it's the launch pad for an unexpectedly great blockbuster. The kooky antics of Agent J (Will Smith) and Agent K (Tommy Lee Jones) don't stray far from their 1997 and 2002 adventures but without a bombardment of follow-ups to keep the series in mind the wonderfully weird sensibilities of Men in Black feel fresh Smith's natural charisma once again on full display. Barry Sonnenfeld returns for the threequel another space alien romp with a time travel twist — which turns out to be Pandora's Box for the director's deranged imagination.
As time passed in the real world so did it for the timeline in the world of Men in Black. Picking up ten years after MIB 2 J and K are continuing to protect the Earth from alien threats and enforce the law on those who live incognito. While dealing with their own personal issues — K is at his all-time crabbiest for seemingly no reason — the suited duo encounter an old enemy Boris the Animal (Jemaine Clement) a prickly assassin seeking revenge on K who blew his arm off back in the '60s. Their street fight is more of a warning; Boris' real plan is to head back in time to save his arm and kill off K. He's successful prompting J to take his own leap through the time-space continuum — and team up with a younger K (Josh Brolin) to put an end to Boris plans for world domination.
Men in Black 3 is the Will Smith show. Splitting his time between the brick personalities of Jones and Brolin's K Smith struts his stuff with all the fast-talking comedic style that made him a star in yesteryears. In present day he's still the laid back normal guy in a world of oddities — J raises an eyebrow as new head honcho O (Emma Thompson) delivers a eulogy in a screeching alien tongue but coming up with real world explanations for flying saucer crashes comes a little easier. But back in 1969 he's an even bigger fish out water. Surprisingly director Barry Sonnenfeld and writer Etan Cohen dabble in the inherent issues that would spring up if a black gentlemen decked out in a slick suit paraded around New York in the late '60s. A star of Smith's caliber may stray away from that type of racy humor but the hook of Men in Black 3 is the actor's readiness for anything. He turns J's jokey anachronisms into genuine laughs and doesn't mind letting the special effect artists stretch him into an unrecognizable Twizzler for the movie's epic time jump sequence.
Unlike other summer blockbusters Men in Black 3 is light on the action Sonnenfeld utilizing his effects budget and dazzling creature work (by the legendary Rick Baker) to push the comedy forward. J's fight with an oversized extraterrestrial fish won't keep you on the edge of your seat but his slapstick escape and the marine animal's eventual demise are genuinely amusing. Sonnenfeld carries over the twisted sensibilities he displayed in small screen work like Pushing Daisies favoring bizarre banter and elaborating on the kookiness of the alien underworld than battle scenes. MIB3's chase scene is passable but the movie in its prime when Smith is sparring with Brolin and newcomer Michael Stuhlbarg who steals the show as a being capable of seeing the future. His twitchy character keeps Smith and the audience on their toes.
Men in Black 3 digs up nostalgia I wasn't aware I had. Smith's the golden boy of summer and even with modern ingenuity keeping it fresh — Sonnenfeld uses the mandatory 3D to full and fun effect — there's an element to the film that feels plucked from another era. The movie is economical and slight with plenty of lapses in logic that will provoke head scratching on the walk out of the theater but it's also perfectly executed. After ten years of cinematic neutralizing the folks behind Men in Black haven't forgotten what made the first movie work so well. After al these years Smith continues to make the goofy plot wild spectacle and crazed alien antics look good.
To the world it looks like Jessica Simpson could be ready to give birth any day now, but according to the superstar's younger sister, Ashlee Simpson, there's still plenty of time before the big day arrives.
In fact, the 27-year-old star was so confident that her niece wouldn't be making an appearance anytime soon that she jetted off to Australia to celebrate the opening of the nightclub Marquee The Star on March 29. "I have plenty of time," Simpson told Us Weekly in regards to missing the baby's birth. "And I'm going home [today] so it will be fine."
Last week, 31-year-old Jessica Simpson was overheard telling a shopper at Fred Segal that her first child with fiance Eric Johnson still has a few weeks left in the oven.
"Only one month to go!" the Fashion Star mentor said. "I can't wear heels anymore. I tried, but it was too hard. Wearing heels is like a religion to me, so it's tough!"
Throughout the past few months, Simpson has been extremely vocal about anything and everything having to do with her pregnancy (even when you wish she wouldn't). So when the big moment does in fact take place, it's doubtful she'll keep us in the dark for very long.

Witness the greatest non-marriage in history! Remember in August when Tara Reid got engaged and married all in the same day to her boyfriend, Zack Kehayov? You should since she tweeted about it practically non-stop. Well, it turns out that the marriage was a complete sham and didn't actually happen at all. How do we know this to be true? A TMZ worker got the confession straight from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Yesterday, a camera guy greeted a slightly groggy (less than sober) Tara in LAX and asked if she and her hubby would win if they appeared on The Newlywed Game. That's when the actress let the news slip and replied/slurred, "No, we would lose. Because we were never really married."
Now I know she doesn't appear to be in the right state of mind to be walking, let alone having an impromptu interview, so one could argue that these ravings are simply due to lack of sleep (or sobriety). Something tells me though that there could be an air of truth to all this. When celebrities aren't getting the right kind of attention, they tend to seek out the wrong kind of attention and become willing to say anything to make headlines (see Lindsay Lohan). Tara hasn't been relevant since back when American Pie was still cool, so this was probably her best attempt at a PR stunt, as sad as it may be. Tara nor her rep have issued a statement since she clarified that her "marriage" was fake...but that could just be because she's catching up on her sleep. It looks like she needed it...
