The new trailer for the long-awaited Juan Diego Solanas film Upside Down might tread a bit into heavy-handed territory, but is foremost a promising window into a dreamy, magical and creative love story. Here's the reality of the universe that encompasses stars Jim Sturgess and Kirsten Dunst: Adam (Sturgess) lives in a world not too dissimilar from our own, save for the heightened presence of a tyrannical and xenophobic militant police organization. Also, there's the small difference that directly above Adam's world, there is another "upside down" world in which Eve (Dunst) lives. It's not particularly easy to explain, but the preview does a very good job of depicting it clearly.
More than anything else, Solanas gives us an imaginative take on the age-old forbidden lovers story. Each world holds the other in terrified contempt, and will not stand for their civilians interacting with those from above/below. The forces of society (and gravity) keep Adam and Eve apart, but this duo—stricken with a lifelong love for one another—are compelled to find one another.

The Across The Universe star teamed up with Kirsten Dunst for surreal new film Upside Down, in which the two actors play lovers from different dimensions.
In the "crazy film", Sturgess spent several scenes defying gravity by walking around and sitting upside down.
He tells WENN, "It's gonna be amazing to watch. It's drummed up by this amazing Argentinian called Juan Diego Solanas and he basically had this dream about two people from two worlds that were upside down from each other and, to get to the other world, you had to sort of defy gravity.
"So I go into the other world and walk around on the ceilings. They actually gave me this contraption, it was in my dressing room that I had to sit on which spun me upside down so I could spend long periods of time upside down.
"Despite that I spent a lot of my time in a harness turned upside down being sick in my mouth!"
