Zachary Quinto, Neil Patrick Harris and Jesse Tyler Ferguson attended a glitzy gala in New York City on Monday night (16Jun14) to raise funds for The Trevor Project. The TrevorLive event brought together leading gay celebrities to raise awareness and bring in donations to support the charity's work with young members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender (LGBT) community who are in crisis.
Star Trek actor Quinto and Juno star Ellen Page, who went public with her sexuality earlier this year (14), were among the speakers at the event, along with Harris, who attended with his partner David Burtka, and Modern Family star Ferguson, who was with his producer husband Justin Mikita. Other attendees included actor Cheyenne Jackson and his fiance Jason Landau.
After the bash, Harris took to Twitter.com to write, "Had such a wonderful time tonight at TrevorProject Live. So impressed by this organisation. Please support them, or at least learn more."
The event was hosted by comedienne Wanda Sykes, while The Huffington Post creator Arianna Huffington was honoured with the Trevor Hero Award for her work in support of gay rights.
British-Irish pop stars The Wanted will embark on an extended hiatus following the completion of their upcoming world tour. The Glad You Came hitmakers broke the news to fans on Wednesday (22Jan14) as they unveiled the video for their new single Glow In The Dark, but Max George, Nathan Sykes, Tom Parker, Siva Kaneswaran and Jay McGuiness won't disappear for good - they are simply planning to take some time out from the boyband to pursue other projects.
A statement posted on their website reads: "This tour will be their last for a while as Tom, Max, Jay, Siva and Nathan have collectively decided to take time to pursue personal endeavours following the tour's conclusion.
"The band wants to stress to their fans that they will continue on as The Wanted and look forward to many successful projects together in the future. They thank their fans for their continued love and support and look forward to seeing them on tour."
And Parker has been eager to stress the break does not mean the band is splitting up.
Taking to Twitter.com, he writes, "Just want to say...It's a break, not the end. You can't get rid of us that easily haha!"
The Wanted formed in 2009 and have scored a string of hits, including Glad You Came, All Time Low and Lose My Mind.
They have also grown popular in the U.S. after recruiting Justin Bieber's manager, Scooter Braun, to guide their careers and documented their efforts to crack the Billboard charts last year (13) on their own reality TV show, The Wanted Life.
Their Word of Mouth World Tour will kick off in Germany on 8 February (14) and take the boys across Europe and North America. The shows will conclude in Oklahoma on 17 May (14).
News of The Wanted's hiatus emerges just weeks after singer Kaneswaran proposed to his longtime girlfriend, fashion designer Nareesha McCaffrey.
"To be honest, I always liked Selena, but I really did not want to go that side because Justin would kill me! I would probably receive a call from (mutual manager Scooter Braun) telling me to stay away!" The Wanted star Nathan Sykes briefly considered romancing Justin Bieber's ex Selena Gomez before he began dating singer/actress Ariana Grande.
Ariana Grande, the 20-year-old pint-sized beauty with a powerhouse voice, debuted her first album, Yours Truly, at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 — causing grownups across the nation to scratch their heads. Who the heck is this little lady and where did she come from? Luckily for the olds, teenagers have known all about Ms. Grande for a long, long time (like, three years, at least). Here's what you need to know, in a nutshell, to get all caught up:
1. Grande made her professional acting debut in 2008 when she was cast in 13: The Musical on Broadway when she was 15 years old.
2. Grande first appeared on the Nickeleon show Victorious — which is about a performing arts high school — in 2010 as total airhead Cat Valentine. She had red hair and an annoying baby voice.
3. While the star of the show was Victoria Justice, it quickly became clear that Grande was the fan favorite. And pretty dang talented to boot.
4. As Victorious started to fizzle, Grande began to slowly release her original music. Her first single, "Put Your Hearts Up," was released in May of 2012 and is incredibly cutesy. When Grande is being herself she has auburn hair.
5. She prefers to dress like an ice capades star slash slutty '50s housewife whenever possible. See Exhibits A, B, and C.
6. Nickeleon caught on to the fact that Grande was one of its biggest assets (sorry, Vic) and decided to cancel Victorious and pair her with another Nick fan fave, iCarly's Jennette McCurdy, for their own show. Sam and Cat premiered on the network in the summer of 2013.
7. Grande collaborated with fellow up-and-comer Mac Miller, earning herself some street cred.
8. And The Wanted's Nathan Sykes, to push the romance envelope.
9. And that brings us to the part where Grande's fame skyrocketed and people older than 16 began to take notice. She released Yours Truly on September 30 and immediately critics began dubbing her a mini Mariah Carey (and they definitely weren't wrong). She performed at the MTV Video Music Awards pre-show:
And Jimmy Fallon:
And released her video for "Baby I" — in which she even looks like a mini Mariah.
And so, it would seem, Grande has successfully transitioned from squeaky clean teen star to a pop sensation on the rise without licking a single sledgehammer. Keep an eye on this one, she's going places (in spite of her penchant for tulle skirts).

Justin Bieber has vowed to take a well-earned break after wrapping up his North American tour in Atlanta, Georgia on Saturday night (10Aug13). The pop superstar thrilled fans in Atlanta by performing with rapper Ludacris during the concert.
After stepping off stage, Bieber took to his Twitter.com page and thanked his pal for making a surprise appearance, while he also revealed plans to take some time off before kicking off the Asian leg of his Believe tour in Thailand on 26 September (13).
In a series of posts, he writes, "If it was gonna end it ended right. Last show in ATL (Atlanta) was epic tonight! Love to my big bro (sic) Ludacris for coming thru (through)... Happy to have a break but already miss the stage, the crew, the team, the band, the dancers, the fans. I love all of u (sic). Thank u. Grateful... I love what I do. I love performing. Thanks to everyone helping me live my dream. Now gonna (sic) get some rest. Much love."
Bieber's last show also provided a thrill for fans of British boyband The Wanted as his opening act, Ariana Grande, invited bandmember Nathan Sykes to perform their new duet, Almost Is Never Enough, during her set.
The Baby hitmaker's final show came on the same night pop rivals One Direction wrapped up their North American tour by ending a five-night residency at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
It’s Wednesday. As Friday night seems like a distant mirage, daydreaming about the weekend is giving you no joy. So how about we present you with a video that is so incredibly funny that you’re guaranteed to have some midweek giggles?
It’s well known that YouTube’s automatic closed captioning function is a hot mess of bizarre phrases and incorrect sentences. Luckily for us, comedy duo Rhett and Link decided to take advantage of this useless feature to transform your favorite Taylor Swift hits into the hilarious versions that YouTube thinks the songs are about.
Here are just a few lyrical gems found in the ingenius video: Swift’s "So why can’t you see? You belong with me" translates to "So arcade teens singing, you’re a gnome with me." And the line from "Mean" that reads, "Someday I’ll be living in a big ol' city" comes out as, "Sunday I mean even in a pickle CD." Amazing, right?
Take a look at the video below to hear all of the Taylor Swift caption fails and then take to the comments with your favorite wacky line. And just remember, you’re a gnome with me.

For a play allegedly branded with a 500-year-old fatal curse, there have been a whole lot of versions of Macbeth to hit the theater of cinema over the course of entertainment history. Hollywood has cranked out a ton of its own incarnations of "The Scottish Play," ranging from Orson Welles' 1948 vision, to Roman Polanski's '71 horror drama, to the comedic re-imagining Christopher Walken-starrer Scotland, Pa. And newly stacked onto the long, perpetually growing list: a Justin Kurzel (Snowtown)-directed adaptation of Macbeth, starring Michael Fassbender as the titular character.
Each entry has sought to contribute something new to William Shakespeare's timeless tragedy, with Polanski injecting his patented zest for horror, Walken adding a dose of humor, and the New York immersive theater performance Sleep No More delivering a haunting and visceral experience for all willing patrons. So what will Michael Fassbender bring to the play? Among other things, hotness.
The new project, which Screen Daily reports is being produced by See Saw Films (the company behind Fassbender's Shame), involves a script by Marc Pease Experience writers Todd Louiso and Jacob Koskoff, which will borrow from the 11th Century English dialect and provide "a visceral approach to the story including significant battle scenes."
Which, as many fans of Fassy likely hope, will involve grappling, running, any sort of spotlit physically demanding activity from the expertly sculpted Prometheus star. While spellbinding witchcraft, decadent ploys of ambition and betrayal, tumultuous guilt, and forest armies are all pretty big sells in a viewing of your typical Macbeth update, this one can bank solely on the jaw of its smooth antihero.
Hey, that's how Richard Burbage got the part, too.

The Wanted star Nathan Sykes has thanked fans for their overwhelming support as he recovers from throat surgery on his birthday (18Apr13). The British singer was forced to bow out of the band's promotional commitments this week (begs15Apr13) to undergo an operation in Los Angeles on Thursday, the day of his 20th birthday, to repair a haemorrhaging nodule on his vocal cords.
Sykes used his Twitter.com page to keep fans updated on his progress as he prepared to check into hospital, revealing he was "nervous" and struggling to sleep on Wednesday (17Apr13) as he had "so much on my mind".
He returned to the social networking site on Thursday after emerging from the operating room, and reached out to his devotees to express his appreciation for their kind words and birthday messages.
He tweeted, "Out of surgery... what a way to spend my birthday! Not gonna lie, I have been completely overwhelmed by all of the love, support and birthday wishes from you guys. You are all amazing!!"
Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun, who also represents the boyband, added, "Happy to hear @NathanTheWanted is out of surgery and getting rest. HappyBrithdayNath (sic)."
The singer's bandmates will continue to fulfill their work commitments without Sykes as he recovers from the operation.
He's appeared a musical guest with his band and he's even popped up in some sketches, including some memorable digital shorts (like this one and this one), now Maroon 5 front man/The Voice judge/occasional American Horror Story actor/guy you know you shouldn't have a crush on but do anyway Adam Levine will host an episode of Saturday Night Live on Jan. 26. NBC confirmed the news to Hollywood.com.
Levine was on the Studio 8H stage just a few weeks ago when Maroon 5 served as the musical guests for Jeremy Renner's pretty terrible episode back in November, but the 33-year-old star won't be pulling double duty, however, as Kendrick Lamar will be the episode's musical guest and will give us all a break from hearing "One More Night" one more time. Levine certainly has potential for Justin Timberlake or Bruno Mars-level of success for a handsome pop crooner turned unexpectedly hilarious host, especially if he participates in some self-effacing humor. Or, at the very least, have him in a long-overdue Voice sketch.
While we'll have to wait until the 26th to see how Levine fares, you can pretty much guarantee that there will be a musical number in the opening monologue. The first new SNL of 2013 will be on January 19 when Jennifer Lawrence hosts with music from The Lumineers.
