Actress/singer Hilary Duff has thanked Australian star Sophie Monk for coming to her rescue following a car crash in Los Angeles.
The former Lizzie McGuire star has revealed her actress pal witnessed the smash and helped prevent the other driver from leaving the scene of the accident. Duff tells Australian radio station 2DayFM, "I had a car accident and Sophie comes out of nowhere, on a rainy day in L.A., like an angel. This girl hit me, she rear-ended me, and tried to run. And Sophie took her (own) car and blocked her off. I'm like 'Sophie?' and she's like, 'Oh my God, Hilary!'"
The pair know each other through their ex-boyfriends, Joel and Benji Madden. Duff previously dated Joel, while Monk was involved with Benji.
She adds of the car accident coincidence, "We were dating twins. Does that mean we're part of some weird sisterhood or something?"
Duff goes on to reveal she does not have a good track record with cars, and often prangs her vehicle when parking at home: "I've had a few (accidents), mostly with my own house though. So that's a good thing, it's always best when there is only one person involved. I've hit my garage a few times. Sometimes I've pulled in too tight. I've always had a big car so I've pulled in and scratched it, things like that."
Actresses Drew Barrymore and Gwyneth Paltrow hosted a star-studded surprise birthday party for Cameron Diaz over the weekend (30-31Aug14) in New York. The Charlie's Angels star, who turned 42 on Saturday (30Aug14), celebrated the milestone with Rashida Jones, Chris Martin and Lake Bell in The Hamptons.
Diaz's boyfriend Benji Madden was reportedly in attendance and makeup artist Gucci Westman shared pictures on Instagram.com of Diaz and her other friends gathered at the laid-back affair, before removing them from the social media website, according to the New York Post.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Seth Rogen are among almost 200 stars who have signed a statement calling for peace in the Middle East. The Creative Community For Peace's document has attracted signatures from all over the entertainment industry amid calls to end violent clashes between Israeli forces and Palestinian troops in Gaza.
In the statement, the stars urge politicians to find a resolution and end the fighting, while they also come out in support of Israel and criticise the Palestinian Hamas organisation.
The letter reads, "We, the undersigned, are saddened by the devastating loss of life endured by Israelis and Palestinians in Gaza. We are pained by the suffering on both sides of the conflict and hope for a solution that brings peace to the region... While we stand firm in our commitment to peace and justice, we must also stand firm against ideologies of hatred and genocide... We join together in support of the democratic values we all cherish and in the hope that the healing and transformative power of the arts can be used to build bridges of peace."
Other stars to have signed the statement include Kelsey Grammer, Minnie Driver, Mayim Bialik and Joel and Benji Madden.
Cameron Diaz has hit back at reports suggesting she has ruled out becoming a mum, insisting her comments have been taken out of context.
The Other Woman star admits she is often asked about motherhood, but recent remarks she made in one interview were misrepresented.
Diaz tells WENN, "I've never said I didn't want kids... I said, 'I haven't had children thus far'. That sort of thing just kind of gets snipped up. The reason that I haven't had kids so far is because I realise when you have children it takes up a large part of your life and, for whatever reason, I haven't had children."
Diaz, who is currently dating rocker Benji Madden, adds, "I've always said if I wanted to have children in my life prior to this, I would've had children in my life. But I'm not opposed to children. I've always said I'm totally open to having children in my life. I'm not the person who's out there saying, 'I have to have children. I'm going to make this happen'. It's just not been what's driven me. I believe that children come into your life if they're meant to and I have so many children in my life."
But she insists she's not short of experience around young kids - she has become a favourite auntie. Diaz adds, "I have three nieces and a nephew. I have all of my friends' kids who I'm really close to and I'm a part of their upbringing and their nurturing. I'm part of the tribe in the village that brings up children. We all know that's what it takes. I'm so blessed to be a part of those villages."
"I feel honoured to impart anything I can and have any experience with the children in my life. If I'm meant to have a child that is my full responsibility, I am totally open to how that's supposed to happen. If I adopt. If I'm in a relationship with somebody who has children. If I win them in a lottery! Whatever it is, that's OK."

Cameron Diaz ranted at an Australian radio host and ended the interview early after the presenter made comments about her friend Drew Barrymore's past drug problems.
The Hollywood actress and her Sex Tape co-star Jason Segel were guests on Australian radio station KIIS 1065's The Kyle and Jackie O Show on Monday (21Jul14) to promote their new movie.
However, the interview took a turn for the worse when host Kyle Sandilands brought up Diaz's Charlie's Angels co-star Barrymore, and mentioned that she had suffered drug addiction in the past.
The comments prompted an angry outburst from Diaz, who ranted at the host, "I'm sure you've never been through it... I'm sure Kyle, you've never been through a drug phase or alcoholism (or) anything like that... pretty clean, always get it right."
After letting Segel answer the next question, Diaz cut back into the conversation to cut the interview short, concluding, "We're having to go now, sorry. They're wrapping us up."
After the interview concluded, Sandilands' co-host Jackie O scolded the star for upsetting their interviewee by bringing up Barrymore's issues and mentioning Diaz's rumoured boyfriend Benji Madden, saying, "Good one Kyle... You ruined that interview. The two things that would have got her off-side, you went there."
Socialite Nicole Richie has taken responsibility for setting up her brother-in-law Benji Madden with his new lady love Cameron Diaz. The Good Charlotte rocker and actress Diaz sparked rumours of a new romance when they were spotted spending time together in May (14), and reports suggested they had been introduced by mutual friend Richie.
Now the fashion designer, who is married to Benji's twin brother Joel, has opened up about her matchmaking project.
During an appearance on U.S. chat show Watch What Happens Live on Tuesday (08Jul14), Richie was asked if she approved of the new couple's budding romance, to which she replied, "I approve of anything that's going to make Benji happy. I am a devoted sister-in-law. I'm happy for anyone who is happy, and I want everyone to be surrounded with love."
When questioned if she was the one who officially set Madden and Diaz up, Richie admitted, "Yes. I'm going to take responsibility for everything!"

Actress Cameron Diaz has stepped up her relationship with rocker Benji Madden after introducing him to her whole family as they celebrated America's Independence Day holiday weekend (04-06Jul14).
The couple, which reportedly began dating in May (14), travelled from Los Angeles to Florida to attend a Diaz family reunion and it appears the Charlie's Angels star's relatives are big fans of her new beau.
A source tells Eonline.com, "They flew into Orlando and then drove to Tampa where they met up for a reunion. They also spent a few days at the beach on Anna Maria Island, where Cameron's family has a house."
"It was a great vacation and they had a blast spending time with Cameron's nieces and nephews. Cameron and Benji are like big kids themselves. They were having a great time jumping over waves and splashing in the water. They were giving the kids piggyback rides and seemed like the best babysitters ever. "The kids all couldn't wait to hang out with Cameron and Benji was right there with her having fun."
The insider adds, "He fit in well. Everyone hung out together for several days and seemed bonded by the end of the trip."
Diaz's previous boyfriends include Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto, while the Good Charlotte rocker famously dated socialite Paris Hilton.
Cameron Diaz and rocker Benji Madden appear to have gone public with their romance after they were spotted strolling down a busy New York City street hand-in-hand.
The Charlie's Angels beauty sparked rumours she is dating the Good Charlotte star last month (May14) when they were seen going to the gym together before leaving in the actress' car. They were reportedly introduced by Madden's sister-in-law, Nicole Richie, but have so far refused to comment on speculation that they are an item.
However, they seemed very much a couple earlier this week (beg03Jun14) when they were seen picking up coffees in New York City's West Village, before holding hands and walking the streets in the sunshine. Madden is not the first musician Diaz has been linked to - she previously dated Justin Timberlake and Jared Leto, while the Good Charlotte star enjoyed a high profile romance with socialite Paris Hilton.
Rocker Benji Madden has fuelled rumours he is dating actress Cameron Diaz after attempting to dodge questions about the reported romance in a U.S. radio interview. The Good Charlotte star has been photographed spending time with Diaz in California in recent weeks, and he was quizzed about the gossip during an appearance on Los Angeles radio show On Air with Ryan Seacrest on Friday (30May14).
When host Seacrest asked him if the speculation was true, Madden laughed nervously and said, "Well, Ryan, there's only one way to find out."
He then tried to deflect the attention away from himself by suggesting Seacrest play an old game he used to have on the show, titled Ryan's Roses, in which fictional listeners call in to air out their suspicions about a cheating partner. An on-air staff member then phones the accused lover, pretending to be a florist offering to send a dozen free roses to the person of their choice to see who they would pick.
Madden's change of subject prompted Seacrest to end his line of questioning.
The rocker had reportedly been introduced to Charlie's Angels star Diaz by his sister-in-law, Nicole Richie.
British singer/songwriter Eliza Doolittle has confirmed romance rumours suggesting she's dating property tycoon Nick Leslau's son. The Skinny Genes hitmaker was spotted shopping with Jake Leslau last week (ends23May14) and now she reveals the music manager is her "lover".
She tells The Sun on Sunday, "It's a summer fling that will hopefully last for a long time."
Doolittle admits she was keen to keep the identity of her new beau under wraps for as long as possible.
She previously dated Good Charlotte star Benji Madden.
