The actress/model rang in 2011 in New York hosting a televised special for America's ABC network and she stunned fans during the show by grabbing a "random" man and giving him a passionate smooch.
The star now admits she wasn't embracing a stranger, identifying the mystery man as her latest boyfriend, sports agent Paul Krepelka from Boston, Massachusetts.
McCarthy tells U.S. talk show host Ellen DeGeneres she met Krepelka on a blind date after a string of disastrous encounters with Hollywood guys in Los Angeles.
She tells the funnywoman, "Everyone thought, 'Oh my God. She kissed a random dude.' But no, it was the boy that I'm currently seeing named Paul who I like a lot. He's very sweet.
"I decided to import this time because I wasn't doing a very good job with L.A. guys. These L.A. dudes had more make-up in their purse than me. They'd literally pull out their knapsack of concealers and I'm like, it's time to look outside of L.A.
"I found a boy. I went on some blind dates. He was my fifth blind date. The first blind dates were these really bizarre dudes that were like, 'Do you know Sharon Stone?' And I'm sitting on a date going, 'Well, I know of her. I've seen her in movies.' 'Well, you think you can get an autograph?' I'm like, 'Oh my God.'"
McCarthy split from Jim Carrey, her partner of five years, last April (10) and quickly found love again with model Jason Toohey, only to end the romance four months later.
The star parted ways with Hollywood funnyman Jim Carrey, who she dated for five years, in April (10) - but she soon found love again with model Jason Toohey.
The pair started dating earlier this year (10), with McCarthy saying, "I am seeing someone right now, so I'm happy."
But the blonde beauty is now single again - her representative has confirmed the split from Toohey, telling UsMagazine.com, "It's true".

Love, Lust & Faking it: The Naked Truth About Sex, Lies and True Romance will focus on the many men in the former Playboy Playmate's life - including her current beau, model Jason Toohey.
But there'll be one absentee from the suitors mentioned in McCarthy's book - she has edited out all references to recent ex-boyfriend Jim Carrey.
The pair ended its five year romance earlier this year (10), and McCarthy wants to protect her superstar ex.
She tells People magazine, "If he wasn't famous, he'd be splattered all over this book. I'm always honest about everything. I just have to respect his privacy."
Jim Carrey's got 99 problems -- and from the sound of it, the bitch is number 1.
The comedian is supposedly distraught over his ex-girlfriend Jenny McCarthy's decision to move in with her new found love, fitness model Jason Toohey. Understandable, considering Carrey and McCarthy split up only a few months ago, back in April. They were together nearly five years. But, in her defense, that dude is pretty attractive.
"Jim isn't himself these days -- and he hasn't been ever since he and Jenny split. But finding out she has already moved in with a guy has just sent him reeling," a friend of Carrey's told National Enquirer.
Carrey is no stranger to depression. In 2004, he opened up in an interview on 60 Minutes about his personal fight throughout his life. Let's hope the funnyman is able to get it together and smile again -- and hopefully, like this!

McCarthy and the Hollywood funnyman, who dated for five years, parted ways in April (10), and now the bubbly blonde appears to have found a new man.
McCarthy was spotted with a mystery man in Los Angeles in May (10), and the actress' representative has confirmed she has been dating hunk Jason Toohey for two months.
Toohey lives in Las Vegas, where McCarthy is currently residing while work is completed on her L.A. home.
The couple were spotted at a party in Sin City at the weekend (14Aug10) and showed no signs of trying to hide their feelings for each other.
Asked to explain the candid new party photos, in which McCarthy and Toohey lock lips and cuddle, she coyly says, "That guy's hot."
She adds, "I am seeing someone right now, so I'm happy."
