Stop the presses! Chace Crawford, Gossip Girl's prettiest pretty-boy, has been arrested in Plano, Texas for possession of marijuana, according to TMZ. He was busted a little after midnight this morning in the parking lot of a Ringo's Pub parking lot, just north of Dallas.
Crawford, who has posted bond and is now out of jail, was with a friend when he was caught with an unlit joint and charged with a misdemeanor for possession of marijuana under 2 ounces.
This news, plus Crawford's seemingly masculine 5-o'clock shadow in his booking photo, should do wonders for the foppish Gossip Girl star's image -- although really, I don't know if the excruciating minutes of hard jail time that Crawford probably had to endure will undo the memory of his many years of continuous preening and prolonged bro-mancing of co-star Ed Westwick on the popular CW show.
Crawford has been in the news recently for playing a wealthy Upper-East-Side-dwelling drug dealer in Joel Schumacher's upcoming film Twelve - and thus 'exploring' his 'dark side' as an actor - although that plot line doesn't really sound much different than any given episode of Gossip Girl. Still, could this be an instance of life imitating art? Could Crawford have gone too deep into his character, 'White Mike,' and never returned?
More importantly, how do you get busted with an unlit joint in a car? This news raises so many unsettling questions! Was Chase Crawford set up? And why Plano, Texas? I have a sinking feeling that this story goes much, much deeper than you or I or anyone else is yet willing to admit. Stay posted as this tale of sin continues to unfold.
The Gossip Girl hunk was set to tackle the role made famous by Kevin Bacon in the 1984 classic, but dropped out of the project last month (Apr10) citing "scheduling conflicts".
The Los Angeles Times reports that Dekker, best known for his role in Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, is preparing to step in to replace Crawford, and he's already hinted he has a "fun" big budget film in the pipeline.
He tells Digital Spy, "Right now I'm kind of closing this big, intimidating huge movie that I can't say what it is, but that will be a trip if we do that... (It's) a big fun movie, it's not very dark."
"I don't have any stipulations; when it clicks, it clicks. I'm not the type of guy to want to date just to be in a relationship. I don't even like relationships per se. I just like girls." CHACE CRAWFORD is happy being single.
The actor was among the victims of the Iceland volcano eruption, which grounded 65,000 flights for five days in Europe.
Planes couldn't take off or land in the continent - because of the thick ash clouds pumped into the air by last week's (15Apr10) Eyjafjallajokull volcano blast.
And so Crawford enjoyed an unplanned break.
Now back in America, he says, "I was literally held hostage by volcano ash in London... They just wouldn't let any planes out. I was supposed to be there 'til Saturday or Sunday.
"I didn't care that much... My manager was working like a monkey on crack to get us out."
Crawford was even presented with the idea of sailing home on the Queen Mary cruise ship.
He adds, "I was like, 'How long does that take?' He's like, 'About six days!'
"I said, 'Six days on a cruise... I'd rather just swim.'"
The 16-year-old actress, who fronts rock group The Pretty Reckless, is often likened to the Hole rocker in her heyday, and her Gossip Girl co-star Chace Crawford recently said, "She's very Courtney Love actually".
But Momsen is adamant she would rather be compared to late Nirvana frontman Cobain, because she is a fan of his work.
She tells EW.com, "I don't wanna be Courtney Love - I wanna be Kurt Cobain. He's brilliant and his songs are genius. The Hole records are great. Everyone always compares me to Courtney Love because they think we, like, dress the same and we both have blonde hair, wear lipstick and dresses. But I'm sorry, don't a lot of girls dress like that? I look at Nirvana. I don't look at Hole."

As the Golden Boy of the show, Crawford was a popular topic of entertainment magazines and gossip blogs, while also becoming a fan favorite on the popular New York-based show. Prior to his success on "Gossip Girl," the actor made his television debut in the Lifetime movie, "Long Lost Son" (2006), which he followed with an appearance in the supernatural thriller "The Covenant" (2006). From there, it was a quick jump to stardom thanks to "Gossip Girl," which opened doors to bigger projects, including appearing in the teen-centric crime drama, "Twelve" (2010). Though only on the public radar briefly before achieving fame, Crawford managed to become a big star in that short span and opened himself up to a wider array of film and television projects.

In April 2011, Crawford cut a deal with prosecutors to have his case dismissed as long as he stayed clean for one year and performed community service.
