Pop star Aaron Carter is back on track with his finances after settling his tax debts. The Candy hitmaker declared himself bankrupt in November (13), listing his debts at $2.2 million (£1.4 million), including $1.3 million (£812,500) in unpaid taxes.
Carter undertook a series of court-ordered money management courses in December (13) as part of his bankruptcy filing and now documents from America's Internal Revenue Service (IRS), obtained by TMZ.com, show he has settled up and the tax liens against him have been removed.
Singer and actress Hilary Duff has hinted that divorce may be a long way off for her and estranged husband Mike Comrie - because they're still the best of friends. The couple split in January (14), but the So Yesterday singer admits she's not quite ready to make the former ice hockey star an ex, revealing they are still working on their relationship.
Duff tells UsMagazine.com, "We are really dedicated to taking care of (son) Luca, and we're really good friends who spend a lot of time together.
"We're not in a rush for anything. So we're just trying to enjoy our lives and figure out what makes us happy and it's working for us.
"We have Luca as our main priority, but we do care a lot about each other. We're adults and we're making our way through life. Sometimes you do that together and apart and we're gonna be and we're going to do it in the most peaceful way possible."
Meanwhile, singer Aaron Carter has made it clear he's keen to win Duff back after dating the star before she got married and became a mum.
He recently said, "I'm gonna do everything in my power to fix those (broken) relationships in my life, just like I want to fix the relationship I had with the love of my life. I'm not gonna give up on Hilary. Ever."
"From my point of view, an ex is an ex and there's a reason for that. I feel like you just gotta move on. Aaron, move on. I love you dude, but move on." Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter advises his younger brother Aaron to stop his quest to win back ex-girlfriend Hilary Duff.
"I have no regrets about saying that. I'm gonna do everything in my power to fix those (broken) relationships in my life, just like I want to fix the relationship I had with the love of my life. I'm not gonna give up on Hilary. Ever." Pop star Aaron Carter has no qualms about declaring his undying love for former flame Hilary Duff in a series of tweets last month (Mar14). She announced her separation from estranged husband Mike Comrie in January (14).
Pop star Aaron Carter has opened up about his past trouble with drug addiction and bankruptcy, revealing his problems started when he participated in U.S. reality competition series Dancing with the Stars. The 26 year old joined the ballroom dancing show in 2009, and even finished in an impressive fifth place, but behind the scenes, his excessive stage fright led to an unhealthy addiction to anti-anxiety drug Xanax.
In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Carter explained, "When I was on Dancing with the Stars, I developed an addiction to Xanax because of stage fright, which I developed during the show."
Carter revealed he was taking up to 14 milligrams of the prescription drug a day, which is three times more than the average dose.
In 2011, his mum and older brother, Backstreet Boys' Nick Carter, forced the singer to face his problems and seek treatment before his addiction became worse.
He said, "I never had a point where I realised I should stop. My mother stepped in. She and my brother teamed up and got me to the (rehab facility) Betty Ford Center"
Unfortunately, Carter's sister, Leslie Carter was also addicted to the same drug, but didn't receive the help in time to save her life. She died in 2012 at the age of 25, long after her brother completed his own rehab stint.
He divulged, "Leslie was heavy into it as well. But an opportunity happened where I could save my life. Leslie was never presented with that opportunity. I had a second chance to live and she died of an overdose in my father's bed."
And while Carter was still on Dancing with the Stars, he was also hit with financial and legal problems, finding out he owed millions of dollars, which included unpaid taxes.
He explained, "It stems from the years when I was 13, 14, 15 and then when I turned 18, I got hit with $2.2 million (£1.4 million) of stuff that I owed. People served me lawsuits while I was doing interviews on the dance floor. Right in front of my partner, in front of the interviewers, it was so embarrassing."
Since filing for bankruptcy last year (13), Carter has completed a series of debt classes, putting him one step closer to becoming debt free.
Backstreet Boys star Nick Carter's family members missed out on the happiest day of his life when the singer wed fiancee Lauren Kitt earlier this month (12Apr14). The I Want It That Way hitmaker and his longtime love exchanged vows in a romantic ceremony in Santa Barbara, California, but Carter's side of the family was noticeably missing among the 100 guests.
Carter tells In Touch magazine, "My family's always had a complicated dynamic. At the end of the day, the people who love us were there." The 34 year old also noted that his younger brother, Aaron, was due to serve as a groomsman, but missed the wedding because of flight delays. Carter's bandmates gave the star a big reason to smile on his big day as they stepped in to make sure the nuptials ran smoothly, each delivering a heartfelt toast to the newlyweds.
He says, "These guys are my family." Carter famously fell out with members of his immediate family after they partly blamed him for the death of his sister Leslie, who died following a drug overdose in 2012. Carter chose not to attend the funeral, revealing last year (13), "I actually got the phone call from my father that she had passed. Immediately the conversation turned into not about her death and not about the actual passing and what had occurred, but more about themselves. And then I started to get blamed by the rest of the family. "I have a large family and they all went there - they were blaming me for the death. "The message from them was that if you had been there for her, she would be alive today... I felt it was unfair. Especially with all the things I have done... for them."
Pop star Aaron Carter was forced to miss his big brother Nick's wedding this weekend (12-13Apr14) after experiencing a flight delay. Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter exchanged vows with fiancee Lauren Kitt in front of friends and family in Santa Barbara, California on Saturday (12Apr14), but 26-year-old Aaron was unable to make the ceremony after rushing from an appearance at the Cherry Blossom Parade in Washington, D.C. earlier in the day.
He posted a photo of himself stuck on a plane on America's East Coast on Saturday, alongside the caption, "Really p**sed off that I missed my brothers (sic) wedding today.. I hope he doesn't hate me .. I tried to get there... I'm sorry bro @nickcarter #technicalProblems (sic)".
Meanwhile, Nick's Backstreet Boys bandmate A.J. McLean admits he was emotional as he watched his longtime pal tie the knot after his previous struggles with alcohol and drug issues.
He tells People.com, "It was bittersweet. We're so, so proud of him. He's been through hell and back as we all have, once in our life here or there. And you know, we're all family. We're all brothers."
