Robert Downey Jr.'s adult son is undergoing treatment for substance abuse issues. The Iron Man star's ex-wife Deborah Falcone, has revealed 20-year-old Indio is currently receiving "holistic, natural and orthomolecular" therapy at an undisclosed treatment facility.
She adds, "We are hoping to do it the homeopathic way rather than with medications. He's being treated with vitamin supplements and organic foods."
Falcone explains her son, who is a promising musician and actor, was only taking one prescription pain pill a day and does not have addiction issues. However, Downey Jr. reportedly fears his son is battling the same issues he fought 20 years ago, when he was in-and-out of drug rehab facilities and jail.
A source tells the National Enquirer, "This is a nightmare for Robert because his boy has never been in trouble before. He's praying for Indio's recovery."
The Hollywood actor and his producer wife Susan welcomed their first child together in February (12), and Downey, Jr. admits he struggled to enjoy the excitement of becoming a parent again because he harboured so many worries for his new son.
But his fears disappeared once he laid eyes on little Exton - a half-brother to Downey, Jr.'s teenage son Indio, from his previous marriage to actress Deborah Falconer.
He tells Esquire magazine, "There was all this trepidation, all this projection, all this anticipation and goodwill and a good vibe about it. But what you're squeezing to the side - or what's in the glove box - is these thousands of forms of fear.
"And then he was born and they've all just kind of scattered now. It seems like he's always been here."
Now he is a dad again, Downey, Jr. insists he won't be trying to act like an Iron Man-esque superhero in front of his baby boy - because he wants his son to grow up as well-rounded as possible.
He says, "Do I want to be a hero to my son? No. I would like to be a very real human being. That's hard enough.
"Every dad casts a shadow, you know? And that shadow is you're disappointed, you're resentful, or you feel so supported and loved you don't understand why life is so hard anyway - or, you know, it's so long and so dark that you can never step out of it, so you might as well not even try."
Downey, Jr.'s producer wife Susan gave birth to Exton Elias Downey, the couple's first child, in Los Angeles on 7 February (12), but the Brit had no idea - and was caught off-guard when he was asked about his thoughts on the newborn while promoting the movie's sequel on Thursday (16Feb12).
A surprised Law replied, "I didn’t know the baby was born. Is that true?! Wow! I didn’t know. I knew it was expected. When? Am I late? How long ago? Last week? I feel terrible."
Downey, Jr., who also has an 18-year-old son named Indio from a previous relationship, did not attend the premiere of Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows in Tokyo.
In a year that's thus far consisted mostly of celeb breakups, it's a pleasure to announce that Robert Downey, Jr. welcomed a son into the world at 7:24 a.m. this morning. His rep confirmed the exciting news to People magazine earlier today, while a close friend additionally stated, “Everyone is healthy and they couldn’t be happier." The baby boy weighs in at 7 lbs., 5 oz., is 20 inches long and joins his big brother Indio - Downey’s first son from his previous marriage.
And while it's really no surprise that the little bundle of joy turned out to be a boy - given that Downey purposefully let the gender slip on the Tonight Show last December - the actor was determined to keep mum about the name of the child until the actual birth. So what did Downey and his wife Susan decide to name the newest addition to the family? (Hint: it's not Robert Downey, III). They named him Exton Elias Downey. It's a bit eccentric, but we really shouldn't be surprised by celebrity baby names at this point. Anything is up for grabs. Congratulations to the happy family.

The Iron Man star and his film producer wife announced they were expecting their first child together in August (11) and Susan gave birth to Exton Elias Downey in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning (07Feb12).
A friend of the happy couple tells People.com, "Everyone is healthy and they couldn’t be happier."
Downey, Jr. is also father to 18-year-old son Indio, from his previous marriage to actress Deborah Falconer.
The new parents wed in 2005.
The Iron Man star and his film producer partner are set to become parents together for the first time and the actor has now revealed they are expecting a boy.
Downey, Jr. announced the news during an appearance on the Tonight Show With Jay Leno, telling the host, "We're having a boy!"
The Hollywood actor also admitted his wife has banned him from discussing the baby news, but he just can't help himself.
He adds, "I am not permitted to discuss it. I keep dropping the ball everywhere - she (Susan) says, 'Don't tell your cousins', and then I tell them. I can't say a word."
Downey, Jr. has a son, Indio, from a previous relationship.
The actor's wife Susan Downey is pregnant with their first child, a half-sibling for the Iron Man star's son Indio, from his first marriage to actress Deborah Falconer.
The baby is due in February (12), but with his busy schedule Downey Jr., 46, admits he'll be a working father for the youngster's early years.
He tells Britain's Live magazine, "It's funny. I used to say that I'd welcome a bullet to the forehead if I ever ended up as a 40-something, remarried, marketable, big-action movie dad living in a cosy cul-de-sac in suburban LA. Now I am that guy.
"It just goes to show that I usually don't know what's good for me in life. But I'm getting better at knowing that stuff. I don't need to rub against the grain nearly as much as I used to. I'm 46 now, so the countdown to my half-century has begun. I'd have to be completely deranged not to stress about that.
"Life is good. With a new baby on the way, maybe I ought to think about slowing down a little. But I can't see that happening in the short term."
"Robert and Susan could not be more excited over this news. They can't wait to welcome this new baby into their wonderful family." Robert Downey, Jr.'s representative confirms the Iron Man star and his wife, producer Susan Downey, are set to welcome their first child together. The actor already has a 17-year-old son, named Indio, from his previous marriage to actress Deborah Falconer.
The actor, who played a man rushing home to be with his pregnant wife in the 2010 comedy Due Date, is expecting a baby with the film producer in February (12).
The news was confirmed by Susan's aunt Nancy Miller, who tells U.S. magazine Star, "I think it's wonderful that she's pregnant. The baby is due in February. Susan's father, my brother, called me about three weeks ago with the good news. Her parents are over the moon about it."
The new arrival will be Susan's first child but Downey, Jr. is already a father - he has a 17-year-old son Indio from his first marriage to actress Deborah Falconer.
While promoting Due Date to Playboy Magazine last November, Robert Downey Jr. hinted that he and his wife Susan Downey wanted to have a child together pretty soon because he wanted to be "wrist-deep in doo-doo within 18 months." Already father to now 18 year-old son Indio (whose mother is Deborah Falconer, whom Downey Jr. was married to from 1992 to 2004), Downey said he probably would want his next child to be a girl because "I don't want another male entity to have to compete; I don't want Indio to feel there's another boy in my life. But I don't know what we'd have to do [to have a girl]. Do we have to put it in a spoon and hang it upside-down?"
Well whatever the Downeys ended up doing, all they can do now is wait because Radar Online is reporting that the couple is officially expecting their first child. Family members confirm that Susan's due in February, and her aunt told Star Magazine, "I think it's wonderful that she's pregnant. The baby is due in February. Susan's father, my brother, called me about three weeks ago with the good news. Her parents are over the moon about it." In terms of whether or not the Downeys continue to cross their fingers for a girl, Miller stated "It doesn't really matter if it's a boy or a girl. What really matters is if the baby is healthy." And that's definitely true -- but what's also definitely true is that his days of sulking around in Elton John music videos are over, and that's something that surely matters to everyone.
