Supermodel Adriana Lima is nursing a smashed head and a bruised ego following a painful run-in with the side mirror of a bus on Tuesday (06May14). The Brazilian model was filming a commercial for cosmetics brand Maybelline in New York City when she slammed her forehead into the giant protruding mirror she didn't see, as she attempted to avoid the paparazzi, until it was too late, while she was walking around the bus.
The embarrassing moment and the sickening thud as her head hit metal was caught on TMZ.com video cameras.
It is not known whether she was injured or needed medical attention after her bump.
The accident comes a day after Lima attended the annual Met Gala on Monday night (05May14). The fashionable event marked her first public appearance since announcing her split from husband Marko Jaric on Friday (02May14).
Supermodel Adriana Lima has separated from her husband, former basketball star Marko Jaric. The couple, which wed in 2009, has been dogged by rumours of a split for several weeks and now its break-up has been confirmed.
A statement issued to People.com reads: "After long and careful consideration, we have decided to separate after five years of marriage.
"We are grateful to be the parents of two incredible young daughters that we will continue to co-parent. We would greatly appreciate your respect for our family's privacy as we begin this delicate next chapter for all members of our family."
Lima and Jaric are parents to Valentina, four, and 19-month-old Sienna.
American baseball icon Derek Jeter has announced his retirement. The New York Yankees shortstop's upcoming 17th season in the major leagues will be his last.
Announcing the news on his Facebook fan page on Wednesday (12Feb14), the 39 year old, who briefly dated Mariah Carey, Jessica Biel and Adriana Lima, admits he made the decision after struggling through the 2013 season with a broken ankle.
He writes, "It was months ago when I realized that this season would likely be my last. As I came to this conclusion and shared it with my friends and family, they all told me to hold off saying anything until I was absolutely 100 (per cent) sure.
"I will remember it all: the cheers, the boos, every win, all the plane trips, the bus rides, the clubhouses, the walks through the tunnel and every drive to and from the Bronx."
If the Yankees fail to make baseball's play-offs at the end of the upcoming season, Jeter's final game will be at Fenway Park in Boston, Massachusetts on 28 September (14).
Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones showed off a united front at the Super Bowl on Sunday (02Feb14) - the Hollywood couple was briefly spotted together at the big game. Reports initially suggested Douglas was at the game with the couple's son Dylan, but now there's photo evidence that his wife was there too - further proving that the pair is working on its problems following a much-publicised separation which began last year (13).
Wrapped up in a red shawl, a smiling Zeta-Jones was spotted with her husband and son as opera star Renee Fleming belted out the National Anthem just before the start of the game.
The Douglases were among the many stars who were at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey for the Super Bowl - Hugh Jackman took his brother, John Travolta, Sir Paul McCartney and Kevin Costner treated their wives to an evening out and celebrity suites were packed with famous faces like Beyonce and Jay Z, Forest Whitaker, Whoopi Goldberg, former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Jennifer Garner and supermodels Adriana Lima and Alessandra Ambrosio.
Embattled pop superstar Justin Bieber had to ask New York police to back down on Monday (03Feb14) after they attempted to keep a throng of fans from mobbing him outside his hotel. Devotees gathered outside the Baby hitmaker's Manhattan hotel early on Monday, despite heavy snowfall, in the hopes of catching a glimpse of their pop idol, and cops showed up on the scene to keep the crowd under control.
The excited fans surged forward the moment Bieber appeared outside, prompting officers to step up their efforts in order to keep them from grabbing at the singer.
However, the 19 year old decided to spend some time with his followers in the cold and instead had a word with cops so he could hold an impromptu meet and greet.
An eye witness tells GossipCop.com, "A couple of cops were trying to stop the fans from going near him and pushing them back. (Bieber) approached and defended the fans... (He) calmed the cops down and took pics (sic) with the kids."
Bieber later took to his Twitter.com blog and wrote, "dear cops. my beliebers (fans) wont hurt me. all is ok (sic)."
The singer was in the New York area to attend the Super Bowl festivities in the lead up to the big game on Sunday (02Feb14), but he was reportedly turned away from at least four exclusive parties in the early hours of Sunday because club bosses feared he would spark trouble. He was eventually allowed in to the Leather & Laces bash thrown by models Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima.
He arrived on America's East Coast on Friday afternoon (31Jan14), and even his landing at a New Jersey airport caused controversy - authorities conducted a search of the plane after suspecting there was marijuana on board. No contraband was found and the star was subsequently allowed to go on his way.
It followed a string of legal woes for the youngster, who was arrested for driving under the influence, resisting arrest without violence and driving without a valid licence in Miami, Florida last month (Jan14). He is due in court to face those charges on 14 February (14), while he is also due in a Canadian court in March (14) to face claims he assaulted a limousine driver in December (13).
Sir Paul McCartney, Kevin Costner and John Travolta treated their wives to a sporting day out on Sunday (02Feb14) when they took them to the Super Bowl in New Jersey. The stars and their spouses were spotted at the big game along with Hugh Jackman, Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, Dave Grohl, David Beckham and Michael Douglas, who was joined by his son Dylan.
Troubled singer Justin Bieber was turned away from at least four exclusive pre-Super Bowl parties in New York City in the early hours of Sunday morning (02Feb14) because club bosses feared he would cause a scandal in their venue. The Baby hitmaker and his entourage were refused entry to his regular hangout, 1OAK nightclub, and he was later turned away from another three pre-Super Bowl events, including Jay Z's performance at the DirecTV Super Saturday Night Bash at Pier 40.
A source tells the New York Daily News, "While Bieber may be one of the biggest stars in the world, most clubs don't want the hassle of having him inside anymore. He is radioactive until he stops being so volatile. No one wants the bad press that follows him everywhere he goes."
Bieber eventually headed to the Leather & Laces bash thrown by models Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima, where he was seen showing off his skateboarding skills to guests. He was later spotted skateboarding through Times Square with two handlers chasing after him.
The pop star had earlier suffered difficulties when he flew into New Jersey for the sporting event - officials reportedly smelled a strong odour of marijuana and searched Bieber's plane with sniffer dogs, but no contraband was found.

Supermodel Adriana Lima is giving lusty husbands and boyfriends a few lingerie-buying tips in time for next Christmas (14), urging them rifle through their partners' underwear drawers to make sure they get the right size. The Victoria's Secret Angel has offered up her top tips for buying underwear over the festive period, because she's convinced many men get it very wrong.
She says, "If you're not sure of her bra size, try to go through her things when your lady's not in the house. That's the secret, because you want to surprise her - we love surprises."
Lima goes on to reveal that although she gets free underwear from Victoria's Secret, she would still like to receive new lingerie for Christmas - from a loved one.
She adds, "If you don't know, as a man, why it's important, it's because you can have a whole wardrobe malfunction if it's not right."
Model Jessica Hart has criticised Victoria's Secret fashion show producers for booking Taylor Swift as the main performer at Wednesday's (13Nov13) annual event, insisting she was out of place on the runway. The I Knew You Were Trouble singer was the headlining act at the Lexington Avenue Armory bash, where she was joined on the catwalk by beauties including Lily Aldridge, Adriana Lima, Erin Heatherton, Cara Delevingne and Behati Prinsloo as they strutted their stuff in sexy lingerie.
Swift won high praise from many of her model co-stars for her hits-packed set, but one Victoria's Secret stunner wasn't a fan.
Hart tells WWD.com, "I think, you know what, god bless her heart. I think she's great. But, I don't know, to me, she didn't fit. I don't know if I should say that."
Asked if Swift could pull it off as a Victoria's Secret model, Hart bluntly stated, "No", before adding, "I think what you find is that for a lot of us, we've been working for 14, 15 years; what it takes to make it here comes from experience and confidence and knowing how to be confident with yourself. I think it comes with age. It's definitely the benchmark of all jobs."
The other performers at the 2013 lingerie show were Fall Out Boy, A Great Big World and Neon Jungle.
Since being named "Supermodel of Brazil" at the age of 15, Adriana Lima has been touted as one of the world's most beautiful women. She was born Adriana Francesca Lima on June 12, 1981 in Salvador, Brazil. Her exotic features resulted from a mixture of Native-Brazilian, African-Brazilian, Portuguese, French and Caribbean heritage. Lima began modeling in her teens and entered local competitions before winning "Supermodel of Brazil" in 1996. In 1999, shortly after signing with Elite Model Management in New York City, she landed a coveted GUESS ad campaign, and walked the runway for top designers including Valentino, Giorgio Armani, and Vera Wang. That same year, Lima made her debut on the Victoria's Secret runway alongside fellow Brazilian beauty Gisele Bündchen. The duo made such a splash that the company promoted them into the elite Victoria's Secret "Angels" lineup, appearing in ad campaigns and headlining its annual fashion show. In 2008, Lima starred in a Victoria's Secret commercial that aired during "Super Bowl XLII" (Fox) and was watched by more than 103 million viewers, making it the most-seen ad of the game. The following year, Lima married professional basketball player Marko Jaric. Aside from modeling, she pursued other projects, from making cameos on hit shows like "Ugly Betty" (ABC, 2006-2010) and "How I Met Your Mother" (CBS, 2005- ), to working with charities in her hometown. In 2012, Forbes magazine put Lima in the No. 4 spot in its top-earning models list with a reported $7.3 million annual paycheck.
