One of Britain's famed newspaper tabloid editors who was notorious for his no-holds-barred approach to reporting on celebrities, Piers Morgan gained mainstream recognition as the cantankerous judge on...
"If Piers Doesn't Want To See Fishnets, On An Old Diva's Legs... He Should't Wear Them‼️ BREAKING NEWS IM BEING BURIED IN MY FISHNETS‼️" Cher pokes fun at newsman Piers Morgan after he suggested she was too old to be wearing fishnet stockings onstage.
Kelsey Grammer has ended a long-running feud with Piers Morgan three years after storming off the set of the former newsman's CNN show. The Frasier star hit headlines in 2012 when he pulled out of an appearance on U.S. TV series Piers Morgan Tonight at the very last minute after spotting a picture of his ex-wife Camille in the show's opening credits.
Morgan was infuriated by the drama and banned Grammer from ever working with him in the future, but the pair put the feud behind them at a pre-Oscars party thrown by movie mogul Harvey Weinstein in California last month (Feb15).
In his diary column for Britain's Event magazine, Morgan writes, "I kissed and made up with Kelsey Grammer. The Cheers legend walked off my CNN show before even reaching the set after a blazing row with my producers in the green room over our use of a photo of his ex-wife in the pre-taped opening trailer. He was upset because he was with his new wife... Kayte. I let rip at his rudeness on air and his publicist later returned fire on Kelsey's behalf.
"So tonight, when I came face to face with him and Kayte, it could have been very awkward. 'Group hug?' I suggested. They burst out laughing, and we did indeed group-hug. 'Kelsey did it for me, he was protecting my honour,' said Kayte. 'I understand,' I replied. 'I'm sorry my own reaction was a little intemperate.' I'm either getting soft in my older age, or more mature. Both would be a worrying development."
Grammer endured a bitter divorce battle with Camille after their split in 2010. He went on to marry Kayte Walsh in 2011.
Lindsay Lohan is among the stars who have stepped up to defend Madonna after footage of the singer's stage fall at the BRIT Awards became an Internet sensation. The pop legend returned to the awards show in London on Wednesday night (25Feb15) to mark her first performance at the prizegiving in 20 years, but her big comeback was ruined by a nasty accident onstage.
Madonna appeared unable to remove the long black cloak she was wearing as she climbed a set of steps, and when a backing dancer attempted to tug the garment away, the singer was pulled down the stairs and she tumbled backwards onto the floor.
Social media was subsequently swamped with footage of the incident, as well as jokes and comments about Madonna's spectacular tumble, and it became a trending topic on Twitter.
A number of stars have since waded into the debate, with Mean Girls actress Lohan defending the Holiday hitmaker in a post on Twitter.com, writing, "She wore a cape for a reason! Much love to @Madonna #superwoman #boss #heroine #livingforlove (sic)."
Culture Club star Boy George also applauded Madonna's bravery, writing, "Madonna was a trouper. That was a hard fall but she got on with it! All these comments about being old. So lame! Old is gold," and singer Adam Lambert added, "Great performance Madonna! You are a true professional and a legend. 'Watched me Stumble... I'm gonna carry on!' #livingforlove."
However, other stars were not so kind - TV host Piers Morgan, who has been embroiled in a long-running fued with Madonna, wrote, "Ambulance for Granny, please. #Madonna.. Still laughing..." while singer/songwriter Diane Warren added, "I think one thing Madonna won't b (be) taking with her when she leaves the U.K. is her dancers..."
Representatives of the Broadway production of The Phantom Of The Opera also reached out to Madonna to offer advice on how to wear capes, as the show's main character has successfully sported one for years without incident. A post on the show's official Twitter account reads, "We're glad to hear that you're not hurt Madonna. In the future, let us know if you want help with capes. They are rather finicky."
However, Madonna appeared to have the last laugh because in the hours after the stage spill, the song she performed, Living For Love, shot to the top of the iTunes chart in the U.K.
British rocker Noel Gallagher has left a string of TV producers dismayed because he flatly refuses to take part in any reality TV shows. The former Oasis star has famously been courted by Simon Cowell on several occasions in failed bids to sign him up as a judge/mentor on The X Factor.
Now Gallagher has revealed he has been bombarded with reality TV requests in the past, but has turned down every single invitation.
He has been asked to live in a jungle and eat creepy-crawlies for survival contest I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here!, and he was also approached to hare around a race track for motoring show Top Gear - even though he can't drive a car.
Gallagher tells Britain's The Sun newspaper, "I've been asked to go in to the jungle and twice for The X Factor. Some f**ker saw I'd left Oasis and thought I'd be unemployed so I was even asked to do Strictly Come Dancing which made me laugh the loudest. Me? Dance? And who gives a s**t about ballroom dancing?
"Then there was Top Gear - even though I can't f**king drive. They said, 'Don't worry about that, just come on.' They wanted to give me driving lessons so I'd pass my test with Top Gear. I've been asked to do Piers Morgan Life Stories but not only would I not shed a tear, I'd call him a c**t."
Outspoken newsman Piers Morgan and actor Alec Baldwin have clashed on Twitter.com over Oscar nominated movie Birdman. Journalist and TV personality Morgan upset the 30 Rock star when he took to Twitter.com on Thursday (15Jan15) and criticised Oscar voters for giving Michael Keaton's acclaimed movie the most nominations, calling it the "worst movie I've seen in the past year".
He went on to call the members of the Academy "complete halfwits" for voting for the film.
Baldwin spotted Morgan's tweets and responded, "There you again, PM. Exposing ur (your) ignorance of what goes into a film. The acting in BIRDMAN is among the best this year."
Never one to back down from a fight, Morgan then tweeted, "All the great acting in the world can't make a self-indulgent, tedious film less self-indulgent or tedious."
Appearing on U.S. news show Access Hollywood Live on Friday morning (16Jan15), Morgan revealed he has since had a private chat with Baldwin, who told him, "If you have a positive thing to say, you say it publicly; if you have a negative review you keep it private."
Making sure to have the last word, the proud Brit then said, "In England, if you have a positive thing to say you keep it quiet; if you have something negative to say, you scream it from the rooftops!"
In a world where celebrities are constantly bombarded with paparazzi and where every detail of their life is public information, it seems very difficult for many to keep a long-term relationship. These twelve couples are among some of the most stable and enduring celebrity pairs of our time. They defy the odds by sticking through it and often, by keeping their lives as private as they possibly can.
1. Meryl Streep and Don Gummer: 36 years
Meryl Streep opted out of marrying someone famous and married this friend of her brother. Because Meryl wanted to keep her marriage out of the spotlight, it is still very impressive how little the world knows about him. The couple have four children together, and when Meryl finally did mention him in her 2012 Oscars' acceptance speech it was adorable. "“I’m going to thank Don because when you thank your husband at the end of the speech they play him out with the music and I want him to know that everything I value most in our lives you’ve given me," she said.
2. Ozzy Osbourne and Sharon Osbourne: 32 years

This couple has had their fair share of ups and downs, but have remained together nonetheless. They met in England when Sharon's father, a music manager and concert producer, managed Black Sabbath, the band Ozzy was the lead singer of. Ozzy was kicked out of the band because of drug abuse and Sharon ended up taking him on as a client. Ozzy continued to struggle with substance abuse and was even arrested for attempting to strangle Sharon while under the influence.
3. Denzel Washington and Pauletta Washington: 31 years

According to HelloBeautiful, this couple met while co-starring in the film Wilma in 1977. Five years later, they were married and now have four children together. According to the site, Pauletta told Oprah that she fell in love with his personality first. “I thought he was cute, but I fell in love with his spirit. And then I thought, ‘Hmm, not a bad package,'" she said.
4. Jamie Lee Curtis and Christopher Guest: 29 years

According to People, Jamie first saw Christopher in a magazine when he was an actor in the spoof The is Spinal Tap. She felt an immediate connection to him. "That's why I developed my smirk—which is why, when I looked at Chris's smirk in the picture, I basically saw myself. I saw a kindred spirit," she says of seeing his photo. Jamie gave him her number through an agent and the two became bicoastal lovers soon after. They married in 1984 and have adopted two kids, Annie and Thomas.
5. Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson: 26 years

The pair originally met while Tom was still married to his college sweetheart on the set of ABC sitcom, Blossoming Buddies, when Rita guest starred for an episode. They didn't get together despite the chemistry they both felt, until after Tom's divorce in 1987. In 1988, they married and have since had two children together. "Literally, a wave of — if love is a feeling, or a cellular thing that happens to your body, it went through me, and that’s pretty much who he is, and how he’s been," Rita said of their relationship to Piers Morgan in 2012.
6. Kevin Bacon and Kyra Sedgwick: 26 years

Interestingly enough, the couple first met when Kyra was 12, at a viewing of a matinee play Kevin starred in. He was 19 at the time and nothing came of the meeting, except Kyra's brother urging her to tell him how much she enjoyed the play. Their relationship started several years later when they worked on the set of Lemon Sky together.
7. Michael J. Fox and Tracy Pollan: 26 years

This pair is especially inspirational as they have continually supported each other through a chronic illness. They met while working on Family Ties in 1985, but didn't start dating until two years later. Early on in their marriage, Michael was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease, but the couple have remained stable. "When we married, we married--and that was it. We were in love then, as we are now, and we planned to stay married," Michael told O Magazine in 2002.
8. John Travolta and Kelly Preston: 23 years

Despite losing their 16-year-old son, Jett, in 2009, the pair have stayed strong. They first met while filming The Experts, but nothing formed except for a friendship, because Kelly was married at the time. John told Redbook what he thought of her initially: "I had interest in her because even in spite of the trouble that she was having in her marriage, she was willing to stick through tough times with him, which really showed character. I just remember thinking, God, if we're ever single at the same time, I think this is really the one."
9. David Bowie and Iman: 22 years
According to Huffington Post, the rockstar and supermodel fell in love on a blind date in 1990 and were married two years later. The couple are very quiet about their life and their love story, but do have two children, Zulekha (Iman's child from a previous marriage) and Alexandria. Iman told The Independent that though David knew it was love at first sight, she was a little overwhelmed at first. “I was not ready for a relationship. Definitely, I didn't want to get into a relationship with somebody like him," she said.
10. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos: 18 years

This beautiful couple met on the set of All My Children where they were onscreen lovers. According to People, they dated secretly for a year and then eloped in Las Vegas. In fact this photo is from their onscreen marriage, because much of their offscreen romance has been kept secret. "It just happened. The next thing you know, we're married, and then four months later we were pregnant," Consuelos told Redbook. The couple have three children.
11. Hugh Jackman and Deborra-Lee Furness: 18 years

The couple first met in 1995 in Melbourne, Australia on the set of the TV drama Correlli. They both felt initial attraction and though Hugh hesitated to propose, he overcame it and they were married a year later. "I decided, I won't ask her to marry me for six months," Jackman told Town and Country magazine. "Then after four months I thought, that's the most ridiculous rule!" The couple have two children, Oscar and Ava. "It gets better every year," Furness said.
12. Sarah Jessica Parker and Mathew Broderick: 17 years

Another couple that have successfully kept their relationship under wraps, Sarah and Matthew refuse to say much about the secrets to their success. In last year's Harper's Bazaar, Sarah did gush about him shorthly. “There’s also the reality of your life,” she said. “I love Matthew Broderick. Call me crazy, but I love him. We can only be in the marriage we are. We’re very devoted to our family and our lives. I love our life. I love that he’s the father of my children, and it’s because of him that there’s this whole other world that I love.”
Shia Labeouf's collaborators have defended the actor after he alleged he was raped during an art installation earlier this year (14). The Transformers star hit headlines in February (14) by becoming the centrepiece of a five-day exhibition in Los Angeles titled #IAmSorry, during which visitors could sit opposite him at a table and do whatever they wanted while he wore a paper bag emblazoned with the words 'I am not famous anymore' over his head.
Last week (ends30Nov14), the actor courted controversy once again by claiming that during Valentine's Day (14Feb14) a woman attacked him, shortly before his girlfriend Mia Goth was due to visit the gallery.
During an email interview with Dazed & Confused magazine, he writes, "One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for 10 minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me, then walked out with her lipstick smudged to her awaiting boyfriend, who I image was quite hurt by it. All this happened in front of hundreds of people. It was really terrible..."
Now two people who worked with LaBeouf for his #IAmSorry performance have come forward to the defend the actor, and are seemingly backing up his accusations of rape.
Artist Nastja Sade Ronkko took to Twitter.com on Sunday (30Nov14) and wrote, "A couple of important clarifications about our #IAMSORRY project earlier this year: Nowhere did we state that people could do whatever they wanted to Shia during #IAMSORRY. As soon as we were aware of the incident starting to occur, we put a stop to it and ensured that the woman left."
Their other collaborator, Luke Turner, took it upon himself to call out British newsman Piers Morgan, who blasted LaBeouf on Friday (28Nov14), insisting the actor should be ashamed of himself for making the claims.
Turner responded to Morgan directly on Twitter, and wrote, "It wasn't clear at the time precisely what had happened, & the 1st priority was to ensure everybody's safety in the gallery.
"She ran out, rather than simply walking away. Beyond that, it's not my place to comment."
Newsman Piers Morganhas taken aim at Shia Labeouf for alleging he was raped during an art installation earlier this year (14), insisting the actor should be ashamed of himself for making the remarks. In a new Dazed & Confused magazine interview, the Transformers star reveals a female stranger attacked him on Valentine's Day (14Feb14), shortly before his girlfriend Mia Goth was due to visit him.
He writes, "One woman who came with her boyfriend, who was outside the door when this happened, whipped my legs for 10 minutes and then stripped my clothing and proceeded to rape me, then walked out with her lipstick smudged to her awaiting boyfriend, who I imagine was quite hurt by it. All this happened in front of hundreds of people. It was really terrible."
Morgan was incensed by LaBeouf's revealing account, and took to Twitter.com to blast him on Friday (28Nov14).
The no-nonsense Brit wrote: "Shia LaBeouf‘s claim to have been ‘raped’ is truly pathetic & demeans real rape victims. Grow up, you silly little man..."
He added, "People are actually defending Shia LaBeouf. The world’s gone mad. He’s invented a supposed ‘rape’ for cheap PR (publicity) - utterly shameful."
During his five-day art installation in Los Angeles, LaBeouf wore a paper bag on his head and invited fans to say and do what they wanted to him as he sat silent in a chair.
One Direction's Niall Horan raised more than $480,000 (£300,000) for good causes with his star-studded charity soccer match. The Irish pop singer recruited bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson, as well as celebrity pals including British actor/comedian James Corden and singer Ronan Keating, to battle it out against a team helmed by newsman Piers Morgan on Monday (26May14).
Morgan's squad emerged triumphant after a tense penalty shoot-out, and the event raised upwards of $480,000 for charities Irish Autism Action and U.K. Hearts And Minds Challenge.
Horan, who was unable to play in the match due to a knee injury, expressed his delight in a series of posts on Twitter.com, writing, "What a great day yesterday!... Thank you to all the players who played in the game, giving up their time to play! Much appreciated!... £300,000! Wow! Thank you everyone for buying tickets and coming down, to the sponsors of the game, the players! Everyone! Amazing."
More than 15,000 tickets were sold for the event at the King Power Stadium in Leicester, England.
One Direction star Harry Styles embarrassed British newsman Piers Morgan by pulling down his shorts during a charity soccer game. The What Makes You Beautiful hitmaker was joined by his bandmates Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan, who acted as team manager, at the celebrity soccer tournament in Leicester, England on Monday (26May14).
Morgan, Boyzone singer Ronan Keating and British comedian James Corden also took part in the match alongside former professional players. A short video has since emerged showing Styles running up behind Morgan and pulling his shorts down in front of the stadium crowd. Morgan swiftly hauls them back up and the singer runs off cheering.
The former talk show host took the prank in good spirits, writing on Twitter.com, "So (Harry Styles) pulled my shorts down mid-game. I believe this got the biggest scream of the day." He later posted the clip, adding, "(I) can't work out if this is a career high or low?"
Despite the mishap, rival team manager Morgan ended the game on a high as his soccer side emerged victorious following a penalty shootout against Horan's players. The match, which was organised by Horan, raised money for autism charities Irish Autism Action and U.K. Hearts And Minds Challenge.

One of Britain's famed newspaper tabloid editors who was notorious for his no-holds-barred approach to reporting on celebrities, Piers Morgan gained mainstream recognition as the cantankerous judge on the U. S. version of the reality competition series, "America's Got Talent" (NBC, 2006- ) alongside David Hasselhoff and Sharon Osbourne. Before embarking on a television career, the razor-tongued Morgan had held top editorial posts at several national newspapers in the UK; most notably News of the World (1994-95) and The Daily Mirror (1995-2004), where he was fired for publishing fake images of alleged Iraqi prisoners being tortured by British soldiers. In 2008, Morgan became the first-ever winner of the reality competition series "Celebrity Apprentice," (NBC, 2009- ), despite displaying a somewhat rude personality and ruthless business tactics throughout the show's run. Having spent decades uncovering dirt on celebrities and making-or-breaking the careers of wanna-be performers, Morgan undoubtedly left his mark both in the newspaper business and in the unpredictable world of reality television.
