Police in Los Angeles have successfully tracked down a Kat Von D fan and questioned him over allegations he was planning a revenge attack on the celebrity tattoo artist after she obtained a restraining order against him. Michael Nunn was ordered to stay away from the reality TV star in 2012 and cops launched a hunt for him this week (beg16Jun14) after he sent her a worrying message via Twitter.com which threatened "revenge" and referenced the deadly 1999 Columbine school massacre in Colorado.
Editors of TMZ.com report Los Angeles police officers teamed with cops in Nunn's native Iowa and made contact with him.
He was questioned over the alleged threat, but was not arrested, and officers have reportedly decided no further action will be taken.
Police in Los Angeles are trying to track down a stalker who has informed celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D he's planning a killing spree after she obtained a restraining order against him. The reality TV star, who has dated Sandra Bullock's ex Jesse James and electronic dance music star Deadmau5, has told cops she fears for her life and the lives of others after receiving online death threats from Michael Nunn.
Von D was granted a restraining order against Nunn in 2012 and now the Iowan insists his life is over and he's planning to go out in a blaze of glory.
In a tweet he sent out on 4 June (14), Nunn wrote, "You have to understand, Kat, my life is over because of you. Therefore, what would my only reason for living be? Revenge."
He then threatened to "go Columbine in Los Angeles... in a few weeks", referring to the deadly 1999 Columbine school massacre in Colorado.
Nunn added, "Get it through your f**king head!! Lose the game or watch people die!... Your (sic) running out of time and I'm not running out of anger and determination."
Police are taking the threat seriously and, according to TMZ.com, officials have launched a search to track him down.
Celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D has had a shade of lipstick from her make-up collection removed from sale at a top U.S. retailer after customers took offence to the name of the product. The reality TV star's Painted Love line includes a lip colour called Celebutard, but the title has drawn a few complaints from mental health campaigners and parents of children with developmental issues.
In a blog entry for HuffPost Style, Kim Stagliano, managing editor of the Age of Autism magazine, writes, "People with disabilities are the last to benefit from what some might call 'political correctness,' and what I would call basic human decency. Retard is still bandied about."
The criticism has prompted bosses at Sephora to drop the beauty item from their shelves and release a statement of apology, which reads: "It has come to our attention that the name of one shade of a lipstick we carry has caused offence to some of our clients and others. We are deeply sorry for that, and we have ceased sale of that shade both in our stores and online."
However, Kat Von D has refused to say sorry and in a defiant post on her Twitter.com page, she wrote, "At the end of the day, it's just a f**king lipstick".
She has since deleted the tweet.
Miley Cyrus has added another tattoo to her growing collection - an homage to her grandmother has been permanently inked on her arm. The Wrecking Ball hitmaker took to Twitter.com on Tuesday (05Nov13) to share snaps of her new body art - a black and white portrait of her maternal grandmother, Loretta Finley, on her right forearm.
Cyrus added the caption: "Because I am her favorite & she is mine."
Taking on the challenge of recreating Finley from a photograph was Cyrus' go-to tattoo artist, Kat Von D, who posted a photo on Instagram featuring her meticulously replicating the portrait.
Von D wrote, "Love, love, loved tattooing you last night... Grandmas rule."
Finley, whom Cyrus affectionately calls Mammie, is known to fans as the head of the singer's fan club, and she often accompanies her granddaughter on tour.
Miley Cyrus has had the Rolling Stones' tongue logo inked on her body by celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D. The provocative pop star, who loves to stick her own tongue out for fans and the cameras, visited Kat Von D's High Voltage parlour in Los Angeles on 29 August (13) for her latest body art, but her pal Amazon Ashley tells Life & Style that few people will ever see the new tattoo - because it's in such a private place.
Jenni Rivera's son has paid tribute to his tragic mother with a new piece of body art completed by celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D. The Mexican-American superstar died in a horrific plane crash on 9 December (12), and now her eldest child, Mikey, has gone under the needle to get a massive inking of her likeness on his right arm.
He documented the experience for an upcoming episode of his family's reality show, I Love Jenni, and during the segment he thanked Von D for agreeing to do the project, saying, "To be able to have Kat Von D do my tattoo (was really special)... As an artist, I really appreciate her craft."
The image was taken from the singer's La Misma Gran Senora album cover, and Mikey added, "I love this picture because my mum looks so at peace and triumphant, and it’s from the album she released when I was young and always on the road with her... (it was) also my favourite album of hers."
Electronic dance music superstar Deadmau5 has opened up about his split from fiancee Kat Von D following allegations he cheated on the celebrity tattoo artist. Kat Von D called off her engagement to the DJ earlier this week (begs24Jun13) amid accusations the star, real name Joel Zimmerman, had been unfaithful during their relationship.
In a post on Twitter.com, she wrote, "Cheating on your loved one is the most hurtful thing one could do. I hate to have to admit that this relationship is indeed over... Onwards and upwards."
Now Deadmau5 has come clean about the cause of their break-up, admitting he enjoyed a fling with another woman while the couple was briefly separated last November (12) - but he insists he never tried to hide the short romance from Von D.
In a post on Facebook.com, he writes, "All i am saying on the matter: Kat and I split in November and I moved back home to Toronto (Canada). During this time, while we were broken up, I did have relations with another woman. Following that, Kat and I reconciled and I acknowledged being intimate with another person while we were estranged.
"We did move past those issues and I proposed to Kat in mid- December. At the end of June, it was clear that the relationship was not working and we mutually ended the engagement. I was not, at any point, unfaithful to Kat during our time together. I don't wish to go tit for tat with these kinds of pronouncements and don't expect to comment further, but I do believe that those who have expressed concern deserve a more complete understanding of what transpired."
Von D was previously engaged to Sandra Bullock's cheating ex-husband Jesse James, but ended the relationship in 2011, six months after he proposed.
Electronic dance music superstar Deadmau5's underwater wedding plans have sunk - his fiancee Kat Von D has called off their engagement. The celebrity tattoo artist has accused the DJ, real name Joel Zimmerman, of cheating on her in a revealing tweet posted on Wednesday (26Jun13).
She writes, "Cheating on your loved one is the most hurtful thing one could do. I hate to have to admit that this relationship is indeed over... Onwards and upwards."
The couple briefly broke up in November (12), before Deadmau5 popped the question the following month. The two were planning to tie the knot on 10 August (13) in an "underwater-themed" ceremony in Los Angeles.
Von D was previously engaged to Sandra Bullock's cheating ex-husband Jesse James, but ended the relationship in 2011, six months after he proposed.
If cheating on America's favorite leading lady, Sandra Bullock, and then hooking up (and subsequently breaking up) with questionable tattoo artist Kat Von D didn't prove that Jesse Jameshas poor judgment, then this will. The 44-year old television personality, motorcycle aficionado, and general scumbag chopped off the tip of his right pinky finger while working in his Texas shop on Tuesday. He then posted the grisly evidence on Instagram.
Those with strong stomachs can take a look at James' severed digit here and here. James said of the photos, "OOOpps, Bad day at the office. Headed 2 Surgery in a few #PayUpSucker" and "Doesn't look like this little dude's gonna make it, Nice know'n you little buddy #jessejames #westcoastchoppers."
We just say, "Ew."

Celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D has pulled out of two more book signings as she battles a mystery illness. The star axed an appearance at a Barnes & Noble store in Dallas, Texas at the last minute on Tuesday (23Apr13), citing "sudden" illness, and now she has cancelled more promotional events as doctors have banned her from flying.
Von D has scrapped signings in Las Vegas on Wednesday (24Apr13) and Portland, Oregon on Thursday (25Apr13), but she hopes to resume promotional duties for her latest book in Los Angeles on Saturday (27Apr13).
A post on the star's Facebook.com page reads, "Kat has not been medically cleared to fly. The Los Angeles event on Saturday will happen. We are so grateful for the support and well wishes!"
Kat Von D's talent and passion made her one of the most prominent figures in the world of tattoos, while her easygoing-yet-unwavering personality won over millions of television viewers. Growing up surrounded by various cultures, music and art, Kat Von D developed a passion for tattoos not just as a means of rebellion, but as a form of self-expression. She padded her résumé with stints at some of the most renowned tattoo shops in California before making her mark as a featured artist on the reality series "Miami Ink" (TLC, 2005-08). Kat Von D's signature tattoo style of realistic portraits established her career as an artist, but it was her spitfire attitude on the show that caught the viewers' attention. After a falling-out with her "Miami Ink" co-stars, Kat Von D opened her own tattoo shop in Los Angeles and starred on her own series "LA Ink" (TLC, 2007- ), where she dealt with a rotating door of employed artists, catered to various clients (including celebrities), and set a world record for the most tattoos given in a 24-hour period. Fame took its toll mostly on Kat Von D's love life, including a short-lived engagement to Hollywood bad boy Jesse James that ended in 2011. Yet even through her professional success and personal letdowns, Kat Von D remained a smart and steadfast entrepreneur whose unparalleled creations elevated tattoos into an undeniable art form.
Katherine von Drachenberg was born on March 8, 1982 in Nuevo Leon, Mexico. Both of her parents were born in Argentina, though her father, Rene Drachenberg, was of German descent and her mother, Sylvia Galeano, was Spanish-Italian. Kat Von D's family moved to Colton, CA when she was four years old. Her paternal grandmother's love for classical music helped shape Kat Von D's own artistic interests, particularly her love for Beethoven's masterpieces and learning how to play the piano at age six. Growing up on the outskirts of Los Angeles, Kat Von D was influenced by the prominent Latino culture as well as the punk rock scene. She grew up listening to the music of seminal punk bands such as the Ramones and the Misfits, and by age 14, received her first tattoo - an Old English "J" on her ankle. Two years later, Kat Von D realized she was not cut out for school and decided to train to become a tattoo artist. One of her first experiences giving a tattoo was using a homemade machine to draw the Misfits' skull logo on a willing friend.
Kat Von D began her professional career as a tattoo artist in 1998, working at the local shop Sin City Tattoo. She moved around and worked at various shops in the Los Angeles area before landing her breakout gig at True Tattoo in Hollywood, where she worked opposite renowned artists Chris Garver and Clay Decker. It was Garver who recommended Kat Von D to try out for a spot on "Miami Ink," a reality series about a famed tattoo shop in Miami, FL. "Miami Ink" followed around the clients coming in to the shop for tattoos as well as the personal lives of the artists who worked there. Kat Von D made recurring appearances on the show's first season as a replacement for artist Darren Brass, who had suffered a broken arm, but quickly gained a following for her realistic tattoo portraits and no-nonsense attitude. She returned to the second season of "Miami Ink" as a series regular, although frequent verbal clashes with shop owner Ami James caused her termination. After her "Miami Ink" fall-out, Kat Von D returned to Los Angeles and opened her own shop, High Voltage Tattoo. It also spawned her own reality series "LA Ink," which became one of TLC's highest-rated programs. The series featured other artists who worked at High Voltage Tattoo, as well as celebrity clients including rocker Dave Navarro, actor Stephen Baldwin, and comedienne Margaret Cho.
In 2007, Kat Von D set a Guinness World Record for giving the most tattoos in a 24-hour period. Thousands lined up outside High Voltage Tattoo to take part in her history-making attempt. She ended up drawing 400 tattoos to set the world record, but only to have the number surpassed the following year by her ex-husband Oliver Peck with 415. "LA Ink's" popularity established Kat Von D's career and expanded into other equally successful projects. She made guest appearances on friend Bam Margera's reality show "Bam's Unholy Union" (MTV, 2007), launched a cosmetics line for Sephora in 2008, and opened an art gallery and boutique next to High Voltage Tattoo in 2010. Kat Von D's personal life became a hot topic in 2009 after she began dating Nikki Sixx, co-founder and bassist of heavy metal band Motley Crue. Sixx even wrote the foreword to her New York Times bestseller High Voltage Tattoo (2009).
The couple lasted until early 2010, around the same time rumors swirled that she had moved on to Jesse James, the West Coast Choppers CEO and reality TV star who had been famously married to actress Sandra Bullock for five years before his infidelities sunk the marriage. Kat Von D confirmed she was dating James via social networking site Twitter in August 2010 - only months after the Bullock/James marriage implosion. On an episode of "LA Ink," Kat Von D surprised James on his birthday by showing him a tattoo of his fifth grade portrait that was inked under her left arm. The pair announced their engagement in January 2011, only to split a few months later. Just days after revealing that her relationship had ended, Kat Von D appeared on the local morning news program "Good Day L.A." (Fox, 1993- ). When producers showed a clip from James' birthday surprise episode, Kat Von D stood up and walked out of the interview. She cancelled all media appearances promoting "LA Ink" following the incident.
