Sports and celebrities can make some strange bedfellows. Being a pro football player means that there are often some choice celebrities who might want to spend...ahem...time with them. These pairings, though, left us way beyond scratching our heads and propelled us into "WTF?" territory.
1. Brian Urlacher/Paris HiltonThis giant of a football player and a heiress who generally preferred to date Greek shipping tycoons. Yeah, I think even the paparazzi were left generally confused. Fortunately for everyone involved, it fizzled quite quickly.
2. Tony Romo/Jessica Simpson
Cowboys fans still howl at this pair, especially since Romo blew off team workouts in a playoff bye week to go to Cabo with Simpson. Yes, Dallas then lost, but if you had a chance to go to a beach with someone like Simpson, you'd do it. Don't lie. At least Romo avoided the Tuna/Chicken question.
3. Tila Tequila/Shawne MerrimanA raucous party girl and a violent-minded NFL player. Where could it go wrong? Well, there were domestic violence incidents. Yeah, we could see that coming a mile away.
4. Jamie-Lynn Sigler/Mark SanchezThey didn't last too long. Maybe the late James Gandolfini threatened to whack Sanchez if he didn't treat her right. Remarkably, around the time they broke up, Sanchez's football game went to sleep with the fishes.
5. Carmella DeCesare/Jeff GarciaFormer teammate Terrell Owens called Garcia gay. He sure showed Owens by marrying a former Playboy Playmate and WWE Diva. Garcia showed that he probably liked getting bodyslammed on the football field and at home.

Pregnant Tequila accused the San Diego Chargers footballer of assaulting her during an altercation at his home in November (09).
She claimed the sportsman tried to choke her and threw her to the ground. She also accused Merriman of false imprisonment.
He insisted he had simply tried to prevent Tequila, real name Tila Nguyen, from leaving his house after a row because she was "inebriated".
Merriman countersued his ex for intentional interference with a contract, claiming that her allegations cost him a lucrative business deal. He also accused her of spreading lies to damage his reputation and ruin his career.
The terms of the settlement between the former couple are confidential.
The San Diego Chargers star was arrested on suspicion of battery and false imprisonment in September (09) after Tequila called the cops to the athlete's California home claiming she had been choked and was being prevented from leaving the property.
Merriman denied the allegations, insisting he only stopped Tequila from exiting the house because she was "inebriated" and he didn't want her to travel alone.
He was freed without charge but Tequila - real name Tila Nguyen - filed suit against the sports star last month (Nov09) accusing her ex of assault, battery, false imprisonment and emotional distress.
The suit also included photo evidence of bruises Tequila claimed were inflicted by Merriman during the incident.
But Merriman is fighting back and filed his own lawsuit against Tequila in a U.S. District Court this week (begs07Dec09), claiming the TV star posted untruths on her website about his reported violent behaviour and alleged involvement in drugs and sex with minors, reports TMZ.com.
He is suing for intentional interference with contract and unfair competition after he lost out on a T-shirt venture shortly after his arrest scandal, as well as trademark infringement, amid claims Tequila used his Lights Out logo on her webpage.
Bisexual Tequila appears to have moved on from the relationship after recently announcing in a bizarre online video that she's engaged to marry her socialite girlfriend Casey Johnson.
The internet pin-up, real name Tila Nguyen, appeared with the Johnson & Johnson heiress on Wednesday morning (09Dec09) in a video posting on Ustream.com.
Clad in black and kissing Johnson, Tequila told fans: "We have an announcement... This is exclusive and going to be all over the news tomorrow, but because I love you guys so much, we are giving you the exclusive first - Tila army fans - tonight, my girlfriend has asked me to marry her!"
The 27-year-old then flashed a what she called a "17-carat diamond ring from my baby", and hit back at rumours the sparkler is a fake, adding, "my baby is a f***king baller. She's a billionaire! She's the heiress of Johnson and Johnson."
The A Shot at Love star, who says she is "very happy" also confessed the couple are in a hurry to be wife and wife, explaining, "We're what you call U-Haul lesbians, where you meet and fall in love and move in the next day and have kids."
Tequila made headlines in September (09) after alleging that her ex-boyfriend, American football star Shawne Merriman, choked and unlawfully restrained her at his home. San Diego County District Attorney later dismissed her claims due to insufficient evidence.
The bisexual star of VH1 show A Shot At Love is featured in an explicit video with an unidentified man on pornography website 4Tube.com.
Tequila claims the adult film has been obtained illegally - because the footage was stored on a computer she reported stolen in 2007.
She is threatening to sue the website's bosses if they fail to take down the video and her lawyer, Cyrus Nownejad, has already begun proceedings.
Nownejad tells TMZ.com, "A police report has been filed for Tila's stolen laptop computer which contained that specific clip. I am currently in the process of sending a cease and desist letter and a notice of intent to sue if (the footage) is not removed."
It's the latest scandal to involve Tequila - she sparked fears for her health last week (ends20Nov09) after she stripped naked and pulled out a gun in a bizarre show online, just weeks after posting a cryptic suicide note on her blog.
She was also hospitalised in September (09) following an alleged altercation with her ex, American footballer Shawne Merriman, who she accused of choking and attacking her.
No charges were filed against Merriman, but Tequila is now suing him for the reported attack.
Tequila danced naked and dubbed her ex-boyfriend, American football star Shawne Merriman, a "woman beater" in the video, which was posted on her Ustream.tv page in the early hours of Thursday (19Nov09).
During the live stream she also removed a tampon, masturbated and showed off a gun, according to PerezHilton.com.
Tequila told viewers, "I am an angel… because I am here to save the world with my army. People call me an attention whore... but excuse me I'm a grown a** woman and I'm confident in myself ...I think a woman's body is a beautiful thing... that's why I'm a lesbian... I was born naked... anybody who is against that is gay and in denial."
The bisexual star of VH1 show A Shot at Love was hospitalised in September (09) after an alleged altercation with Merriman, who was accused of choking and attacking her during a heated argument. Charges weren't filed against the American footballer, due to insufficient evidence - but Tequila is suing him for $1.5 million (£937,500).
She confessed last month (Oct09) she has suffered depression since the clash and left fans fearing she'd take her own life after posting a cryptic suicide note online.
Cops were called to the California home of San Diego Chargers star Merriman after Tequila dialled 911 and claimed she had been choked and prevented from leaving the property by the sports star.
Merriman was taken into custody accused of battery and false imprisonment but he denied attacking his lover, insisting he prevented her returning home as she was "inebriated" and he didn't want her to travel alone.
Police subsequently freed Merriman and the District Attorney ruled there was insufficient evidence to prosecute the case.
The news left the internet pin-up fuming and she has now taken her complaint to the civil courts, filing a lawsuit accusing the footballer of assault, battery, false imprisonment and emotional distress.
The suit also includes photo evidence of bruises which Tequila claims were inflicted by Merriman during the incident, according to TMZ.com.
The star - real name Tila Nguyen - is seeking unspecified damages.
The bisexual star of VH1 show Shot at Love reveals she's seeking help for her suicidal tendencies, and admits she went too far with a post on Monday (05Oct09).
Tequila alarmed her Twitter followers by writing, "I am going to kill myself cuz I don't want to life (sic) in a world where its filled with IGNORANCE! which majority of you ARE! & racists! As dark descends into my world... I drown at night, without a fight. One last breath before I go. Don't mourn me world, I will die slow."
The post has since been protected on Twitter.com and can no longer be viewed.
And, in a follow-up - posted on GlobalGrind.com on Wednesday (07Octo09), Tequila addresses what she calls "my recent public suicidal meltdown online."
She writes, "I don't usually issue statements to address rumors, but since suicide is a very serious subject, I felt that it is my responsibility to come clean and speak out about it, as emotional and personal as it is.
"I am a bit embarrassed and ashamed that the whole world witnessed my very public meltdown about being suicidal, but, at the same time, I know that I shouldn't be. Had I not spoken out for help, my loved ones would not have seen my cry for help, and I probably wouldn't be alive today.
"Had I not done what I did that night, I most definitely would have made the biggest mistake of my life, that I can never undo."
Tequila, 27, claims her depression began last month (Sep09), when she was hospitalised after an alleged altercation with then-boyfriend Shawne Merriman. Charges weren't filed against the American footballer, due to insufficient evidence.
Tequila writes, "I was involved in a highly publicized case of domestic violence, and I have never really spoken out about it... It has been a very difficult situation for me. Not being able to speak to people about it in public, and having to pretend to move on (with life) as though nothing ever happened, has taken a heavy toll on me, physically, as well as mentally."
Concluding her latest post on a positive note, she adds, "We have only one life to live, so why not give it a try? It takes a stronger person to fight through the hard times than take the easy way out!!!! DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!!! God Bless!"
Last week (06Spe09), police were called to the home of San Diego Chargers footballer Shawne Merriman after Tequila dialled 911 and claimed she had been choked and prevented from leaving the property by the sports star.
The internet pin-up, real name Tila Nguyen, signed a complaint against her beau at the scene and was taken to a local hospital for treatment, while Merriman was taken into custody accused of battery and false imprisonment.
Merriman vehemently denied attacking his lover, insisting he prevented her returning home as she was "inebriated" and he didn't want her to travel alone.
District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis ruled on Friday (11Sep09) there is insufficient evidence to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Merriman committed a crime.
But Tequila is fuming with the decision, and plans to launch a civil case against Merriman.
In a statement, her representative says, "Tila Tequila is the victim of a violent crime. The San Diego District attorney's decision not to press charges against Shawne Merriman for the battering of Tila Tequila demonstrates an unconscionable negligence in the discharging of their public duties. We strongly feel that justice has not been served in this matter.
"Obviously, The San Diego Charger's NFL franchise brings millions of dollars in revenue to the city of San Diego, and it seems clear that other interests are being served by the DA's office than the upholding of the law.
"A young woman was violently beaten and choked, and the physical evidence is both overwhelming and disturbing... Just because the DA has made this reckless decision doesn't mean that justice will not be served in this case. No one is above the law. Tila Tequila will immediately begin pursuing civil charges against Mr. Merriman and she will have her day in court."
Police responded to the home of San Diego Chargers star Shawne Merriman after Tequila dialled 911.
She claimed the sports star had attacked her after the pair spent the evening at a local nightclub.
