The actress has opened a table tennis social club in the Standard hotel downtown.
Teenage ping-pong prodigy Erica Wu helped Sarandon open her California SPiN venue earlier this week (11Dec12).
The new SPiN is the Dead Man Walking star's fourth social club with boyfriend Jonathan Bricklin. She opened the first in New York in 2009.
"I think that's why actors are always with people from some aspect of the business because there is nothing sexier than having a project with someone - not necessarily an actor... But when you work on something you find out so much, in this business especially. Very quickly you see the worst and the best and there's nothing in between." Actress Susan Sarandon explains why she's always dated co-workers. The veteran star is currently in a relationship with Jonathan Bricklin, her business partner in her New York ping pong club SPiN.
The Dead Man Walking star split from her partner of 23 years, actor Tim Robbins, in late 2009 and she went on to romance her Spin table tennis club partner Bricklin, who is more than 30 years her junior.
The unlikely pairing has drawn some criticism from detractors, but 65-year-old Sarandon claims age plays no part in their relationship, just like it made no difference with Robbins, 53.
During an appearance on U.S. talk show The View on Thursday (13Sep12), she says, "Well, Tim was a little bit younger... I don't go by age. I go by the soul of a person. I think that when you really love a person, the age thing, the gender, the colour, none of that matters. It's really beyond that."
You've gotta love Susan Sarandon. The sexy 65-year-old actress has danced around rumors she's dating her 34-year-old ping pong aficionado business partner Jonathan Bricklin (although she did finally halfway confirm it several months ago). But the actress proudly stepped out with her young friend Thursday night at the New York in Film Summer Screening of Midnight Cowboy, hosted by director Spike Lee. Big names in fashion and film like Amy Heckerling of Clueless fame, snacked on spiced popcorn and a 1960s-themed candy and cocktail bar at the W New York Downtown. 100 percent of proceeds from the screenings will support Lee’s charity of choice, the NYU Film School, an intensive three-year conservatory which trains students in the art of cinematic storytelling. The intimate invitation-only reception will be followed by a public screening on July 31. Tickets for the screening can be purchased at http://www.whotelsnewyork.com/summerclassics.

The Dead Man Walking star, who ended her 23-year relationship with Tim Robbins in 2009, fuelled rumours of a blossoming romance with her Spin table tennis club partner Bricklin in April, 2010, when the couple attended a New York film screening.
A representative for the actress later dismissed the speculation, insisting the pair's partnership was "strictly a business one" and Bricklin also laughed off suggestions he was her toyboy lover.
However, Sarandon, 65, recently acknowledged their two-year relationship for the first time, telling People magazine, "Dating is such a stupid word. You can say... we are collaborating in a lot of different areas."
The Hollywood actress marked the milestone on Tuesday (04Oct11) and she shunned a lavish party, choosing instead to spend her birthday evening enjoying an intimate dinner with Jonathan Bricklin at Manhattan restaurant Pulqueria.
A source tells the New York Post's gossip column Page Six, "It was just the two of them. They had a quiet dinner and a few tequila cocktails and left early."
Sarandon co-owns New York table tennis bar Spin with 32 year old Jonathan Bricklin, who has been listed as her toyboy lover following the actress' 2009 split from longtime partner Tim Robbins.
Her representative quickly dismissed the dating rumours, insisting the pair's relationship was "strictly a business one", but speculation has yet to die down.
Sarandon fuelled the romance rumours earlier this year (10) when she was spotted with Bricklin on a trip to Peru, and she also brought him to a New York screening of new documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop in April (10) - as her date.
Now her rumoured toyboy has finally spoken up to deny he's dating his partner.
He tells New York Magazine, "No. No, no. But we spend a lot of time together - a lot of time.”
But Bricklin isn't complaining about the attention because it's good for business.
He adds, "I don’t read the papers that often, but I walk by and I kind of scoff at whoever’s there. So when the equivalent happened to me, I was just horrified. And then I got over it, a day later.
"Business was notably better from the first article on. I mean, I’m happy as s**t if that sells things."
Robbins split from his longterm partner, Susan Sarandon, in 2009 after 23 years together. The actress has since been linked to her ping-pong club business partner, Jonathan Bricklin, although she denied they are romantically involved.
Robbins has now been hit with rumours of a new relationship with Ryan after they were seen together in California twice last week (beg17May10), but a representative for the Sleepless in Seattle star is adamant they are not a couple.
The rep tells New York Post gossip column PageSix, "Meg and Tim have been great friends for many years and remain so."
The actress ended her 23-year relationship with Tim Robbins last summer (09), but waited until December (09) to announce the news.
And shortly after the split surfaced, Sarandon was linked to 31-year-old Jonathan Bricklin, who co-owns New York table tennis bar Spin with the actress.
A rep for the Dead Man Walking star dismissed the dating rumours, insisting the pair's relationship is "strictly a business one."
But Sarandon fuelled gossip on Tuesday night (06Apr10) by taking Bricklin to the screening of new documentary Exit Through the Gift Shop, which tells the story of British street artist Banksy, according to New York Post gossip column PageSix.
The appearance in New York City came just days after the 63 year old was pictured enjoying a trip to Peru with Bricklin.
"She's amazing and I'm so lucky to be her business partner. We have a great relationship... She's one of my closest friends now. But as far as a romantic relationship, we are not having one. I'm flattered people think that we might be." SUSAN SARANDON's partner in New York ping-pong club SPiN Jonathan Bricklin insists he isn't romancing the actress, who recently split from longtime partner Tim Robbins.
