They say keeping busy is the best way to mend a broken heart, and if Robert Pattinson's recent workload is any indication, he's on track to being completely over it by the time the final installment of The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part Two opens.
Variety is reporting that Pattinson has been cast as T.E. Lawrence, better known as Lawrence of Arabia given his work as a British Army officer whose writing earned him international fame, and on whom the David Lean's classic 1962 film was based upon.
The film also stars Naomi Watts, who plays Lawrence's friend, the English writer Gertrude Bell. The film is said to discuss Bell's incredible life story. For those unfamiliar with Bell, she wore many hats, including writer, archaeologist, explorer, cartographer and political attaché for the ol' British Empire. She was also a figure in the women's rights movement, as she was one of the first women to graduate from Oxford University. Her travels through the Middle East helped define borders for the countries of Iraq, Jordan and Saudi Arabia.
The nature of the film follows Pattinson's pattern for a post-Twilight career that involves working extensively in a series of upcoming indie films, including Bel Ami and the just-released David Cronenberg film, Cosmopolis.

Angelina Jolie is attached to the title role in Gertrude Bell, a biopic about the woman who played a key role in the progression of the Middle East pre-World War I.
Ridley Scott's production company is behind the film about Bell, a British polymath who, The Hollywood Reported notes, has been described as the female Lawrence of Arabia. Scott may also direct Bell.
Jolie, who made news earlier Thursday for signing with a new talent agency, has several acting projects coming up, including a sequel to Salt; her directorial debut, In the Land of Blood and Honey, is set for release in December.

Ridley Scott has a thing for powerful women. From Alien to G.I. Jane, the British director has never shied away from letting his female characters kick some ass. So it’s no wonder that he’s planning a biopic about one of the most bad-ass women from Imperial Britain that didn’t have a crown.
Gertrude Bell was one of the leading political figures in the Middle East during the years leading up to WWI and her actions helped guide the new governments of Jordan and Iraq. She was even known to pick up a camera from time to time as well and also did some digging as an archaeologist. Oh yeah, she also acted as a spy. All that makes for a totally bad-ass story and it's no wonder Scott wants to give Bell the big screen treatment. Though after seeing what Hollywood wants to do with Miss Marple, Scott might not get the character he wants. Fingers crossed.
