Leonardo DiCaprio bookended a perfect day on Thursday (16Jan14) when he picked up the first trophy at the 19th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards, just hours after landing an Oscar nomination. The Best Actor in a Comedy Movie prize for his portrayal of a drug-taking, womanising broker in The Wolf of Wall Street came just hours after DiCaprio learned he was up for a Best Actor Oscar.
Accepting his latest accolade just four days after he claimed the same honour at the Golden Globe Awards on Sunday (12Jan14), the actor said, "This is fantastic."
He then congratulated his co-star and "friend" Jonah Hill, who picked up a Best Supporting Actor Oscar nomination on Thursday morning, and apologised to his parents for "everything I did in this movie".
Another 2014 Oscar nominee, Amy Adams, was also an early winner - she was named Best Actress in a Comedy Movie for her role in American Hustle.
She took to the stage at the Santa Monica, California event and embraced her Enchanted co-star James Marsden, who presented the award to her.
She joked, "Any chance to kiss James Marsden, I'm excited."
Adams then apologised to her fiance Darren LeGallo, adding, "Sorry Darren, you know it's true!"
In her acceptance speech, she cooed over her beau, stating, "Darren, there's no such thing as individual success... and I am successful because of you. I love you so, so much. You are the best. You are my rock."
Her film, which is up for 13 Critics' Choice Awards, was then named Best Comedy.
The Fighter star became engaged to Darren Legallo in July, 2008, and they've since become parents to daughter Aviana, who was born in May last year (10).
But there's still no firm plans for the couple to become husband and wife.
Adams admits she has been working on a tentative schedule for her big day, but she can't finalise anything as she keeps changing her mind about her preferred date.
She tells InStyle magazine, "I'll say to Darren, 'What do you think of May?' and he'll say, 'May. Ha, ha. You just let me know.' I just can't decide! I am putting more pressure on myself now that we have Avi. I'll figure it out soon."
The Oscar nominee previously considered exchanging vows with Legallo while she was pregnant, but backed out of the quick 'shotgun' wedding because she wanted a "traditional" ceremony.
The Enchanted star has been dating Darren Legallo for seven years and they became engaged in July 2008.
The couple found out they were expecting a baby late last year (09) and they secretly planned to marry before the birth - but Adams backed out of the 'quickie' wedding.
She tells Marie Claire magazine, "Darren and I would set a date, and then a project would come up and we'd push it.
"Then when we got pregnant, we were going to get married right away. And we will get married. But we didn't want to rush and plan something just to do it the traditional way."
Adams and Legallo welcomed daughter Aviana in May (10).
AMY ADAMS gave the public its first glimpse of newborn daughter Aviana on Sunday (25Jul10) when the tot accompanied the star and her fiance, Darren Legallo, on a shopping trip to the Beverly Hills Farmers Market. The actress gave birth to the tot in May (10).
The Enchanted star and her fiance Darren Legallo welcomed little Aviana Olea Legallo into the world on Saturday (15May10).
The tot was born in Los Angeles.
Adams' spokeswoman tells People.com, "Mom and baby are home and doing great. Everyone's healthy and happy."
AMY ADAMS was all smiles as she arrived at her baby shower in Brentwood, California on Saturday (27Mar10). The ENCHANTED actress is expecting her first baby with fiance Darren LeGallo later this year (10).
The Enchanted star is engaged to Darren LeGallo, and announced last month (Dec09) she is expecting the couple's first child.
Adams admits she first agreed to have a baby two years ago, but had to put off motherhood after signing up to a string of movie roles.
She says, "Two years ago my fiance and I sat down and agreed it was time to start a family. Then I went off and did two more jobs. He's been very patient."
Adams and Le Gallo announced their engagement in July 2008 after seven years of dating, and last month (Dec09) revealed they are expecting their first child together.
She explains, "The first year we were together I wanted to ask him (to marry me) because I was so in love with him. And then the second year I wanted to ask him when he hadn't proposed to me."
But now the Doubt star is urging women in love not to wait for their man to propose.
She says, "I knew it was important to him to ask me, so in the end that's what was important to me. But I think in a relationship... if that works, the woman should do it (ask)."
The Doubt star's baby news leaked to the media on Friday (04Dec09), and Adams has revealed she's excited about the idea of becoming a mother.
In an interview to promote her upcoming film Leap Year, Adams told reporters, "I feel great. I’m feeling really good. I'm excited, nervous and excited."
She refused to discuss her due date, but revealed she's in her second trimester.
