Ryan Reynolds landed the oddest birthday gift as he turned 37 on Wednesday (23Oct13) - his own waxwork. The Hollywood hunk was immortalised at Madame Tussauds Hollywood after staff asked movie and TV fans to vote for the star they'd most like to see waxed.
Reynolds beat out Ryan Gosling, Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Hudson and Sofia Vergara.
More than 20 artists took two months to craft the lifelike Reynolds and the effort wasn't lost on the thrilled actor, who unveiled his new figure and said, "This is undoubtedly the largest and most spectacular birthday candle I've ever received."
Animated snail-racing adventure Turbo has beaten Tom Hanks' Captain Phillips to the top of the British box office. The family film, which features the voices of Ryan Reynolds, Paul Giamatti and Samuel L. Jackson, grossed $5.85 million (£3.9 million) in its opening week, proving more popular with U.K. audiences than it did upon its release in North America in July (13), when it entered the chart at number three.
Turbo's U.K. surge topped hostage drama Captain Phillips, which debuted in second place with $5.1 million (£3.4 million), while Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger's Escape Plan trailed behind in third place with $1.44 million (£961,470).
Last week's most popular film, thriller Prisoners, and British movie musical Sunshine on Leith rounded out the new top five.
Best friends Ryan Reynolds and David Cross are secretly planning their own movie inspired by their wives' The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants film. Blake Lively and Amber Tamblyn tell Entertainment Weekly magazine their men have become incredibly close through their friendship and would love to star in their own buddy movie.
Tamblyn says, "Our dudes are friends."
Lively adds, "They really love each other and they have their own little man texts. They're dying to do their own Husbands of the Sisterhood movie. We'll see."
But Reynolds and Cross' wives might beat them to it with a third film.
The actress' pal and co-star America Ferrera explains, "The fifth book (in author Ann Brashares' book series) picks up 10 years after the fourth book, so the characters are all basically the ages that we are now.
"I know that the four of us would love it (to make another film), and it would be wonderful."
Ferrera, Tamblyn, Lively and Alexis Bedel have all become close friends since teaming up for the first film back in 2005 and reprising their characters for a 2008 Sisterhood sequel.
Hollywood movie star Ryan Reynolds was forced to strip during a flight after a passenger became ill and vomited over him. The Green Lantern star was on a flight from New York to New Orleans, Louisiana with his Gossip Girl wife Blake Lively last week (ends18Oct13), when a woman sitting in front of the couple threw up on a window, splashing the actor.
Flight attendants rushed to help the star as he stripped off to change into a new shirt.
Blake Lively and her The Sisterhood Of The Traveling Pants co-stars Alexis Bledel and America Ferrera ambushed castmate Amber Tamblyn at an airport and took her on a bachelorette jaunt to New Orleans, Louisiana. The stars have remained close since meeting on the set of the hit 2005 and they couldn't resist a reunion last year (12) just before Tamblyn wed comedian and actor David Cross.
The Two and a Half Men star admits she had no idea the get together has been planned when she joined Lively and her partner Ryan Reynolds for a night at their home in Bedford, New York.
She tells Entertainment Weekly, "Blake talked me into coming up to her and Ryan's house. We all had drinks and Blake's like, 'You can't drive home'. The next morning there was a car service... and Blake basically took me to the airport.
"She blindfolded me and I felt all of these hands pulling me out of the car. I'm like, 'OK, I'm going to be beheaded...' And it was America and Alexis. They had all surprised me and put this whole trip together to New Orleans."
And that's not the first time Lively has organised a Sisterhood co-star's bachelorette bash - she also planned Ferrera's and admits it's important to share the good times with her closest film friends.
She adds, "These are such key moments in each other's lives. They (co-stars) met me before I even had a boyfriend. They were at my wedding.
"They're the most intelligent people you'll ever meet, It's like, 'Wow, how lucky am I to have those women as friends? And how lucky are they, because I make a good cupcake."
But, though Lively has planned her pals' bachelorette parties, they never got the chance to surprise her with one.
She tells the publication, "I didn't get one out of them. I did have a secret wedding. They thought they were going to a birthday party, so its no fault of theirs. But I do think I'm owed a bachelorette party."
Actress Blake Lively has stepped in to replace Katherine Heigl in Oscar winner Ellen Burstyn's new film The Age Of Adaline. The former Gossip Girl star will portray a global traveller who stops ageing after a near-death accident in director Lee Toland Krieger's new movie.
Heigl was originally hired for the role, but has since been dropped for unknown reasons, according to Us Weekly magazine.
The movie will be Lively's first project since she took a hiatus last year (12) after marrying Ryan Reynolds.

Vampire 101: Class is in Session
If you can't catch Zoey Deutch, Lucy Fry, Sami Gayle and Dominic Sherwood from Vampire Academy at their Comic Con panel in New York on October 11 at 11AM ET, fear not: MTV will be featuring interviews and set visits online. Unless you've been locked in a coffin, you already know the movie version of Richelle Mead's Vampire Academy is slated to open on Valentine's Day, 2014. The tale follows vampire/human hybrid Rose Hathaway and her classmates through the intricacies of Romanian vamp escoterica. It's like Buffy, but way more sophisticated. It is, after all, a boarding school.
For Vampires with Taste
If you're on the West Coast, why not duck out for a romantic evening at The Vampire Lounge and Tasting Room? There are some whites —for you wimps — but the reds are worth sharpening your teeth for. You will definitely make an impression on your date.
Three's the Charm
But if you're stuck any place in between, Encore has scheduled a mini vamp triple-header on Saturday Oct. 12: Van Helsing airs at 5:45 PM ET, Blade at 8 PM ET, and the crown jewel in that franchise, Blade: Trinity, airs at at 10 PM ET. Van Helsing is fine to watch while you're making dinner, but the coolest is definitely the last one. It's funny, imaginative and sick, and has something compelling the other two don't: Ryan Reynolds hotness.
Greendale Community College is getting a visit from a familiar browncoat. According to Deadline, Castle and Firefly star Nathan Fillion is slated to guest star in the upcoming season of Community. Fillion will play Bob Waite, a politically savvy head custodian who battles Annie (Alison Brie) and Professor Hickey (fellow guest star Jonathan Banks) for Greendale supremacy.
Community's brand of topsy turvy meta plots make for the perfect venue for Fillion's geeky IMDB profile. We never knew we wanted a Firefly-inspired paintball episode so completely until we heard that Mal Reynolds would be taking a couple extra-curriculars in his spare time.
Fillion is actually a huge fan of the show. The actor visited the set last year and spent time hanging out with the cast. Fillion's guest role follows the news that Jonathan Banks (star of the recently wrapped up Breaking Bad), will be appearing as a guest star as well. Hopefully, these two actors attract the attention of their previous show's fan bases and increase Community's paltry ratings.

As if being a successful actress, fashion muse, and wife to Ryan Reynolds weren't enough, Blake Lively is adding one more title to her resume. The blonde beauty is launching a lifestyle company that will likely cover fashion, food, travel, and home decor. "It's something that will be launching in a few months and that I'm really, really thrilled about," Lively gushed. "The main element of it is that it's about storytelling and it's about living a very one-of-a-kind, curated life, and how to achieve that. There's nothing like it out there — it's without a genre."
That might be a stretch, as entrepreneurial stars like Gwyneth Paltrow and Martha Stewart have also created lifestyle brands with their own unique visions. Perhaps Lively is joining the ranks of her fellow like-minded blondes but specifically targeting her own generation. Regardless, it sounds suspiciously similar to already-established lifestyle companies, especially Goop. Paltrow's site features recipes, styling tips, travel notes and wellness advice. Lively often mentions her cooking skills to the press, we all know she has impeccable style, and she recently shared her experience with decorating her home in Bedford, NY, with Lucky magazine. Wonder what her lifestyle site is going to be about.
Lively went on to say, "I have so many passions outside of acting and things that I grew up being good at and that I don't utilize when acting. Acting was something that my family did so I just kind of got into it by default, but there was so much that I cultivated, thinking that I wouldn't be an actor." Girl, we get it. You're good at stuff. You've won in life, but do we really need to be force-fed your way of living? If it's anything like Goop, it'll be filled with crocodile shoes we can't afford and duck ragout recipes we can't allow ourselves to eat if we want to look like the very inspiration behind the lifestyle. Not to mention, one company's unrealistic advice is more than enough.
Still, it remains to be seen how Lively's new venture will turn out. Maybe she'll make good on her promise that it'll be like nothing out there. Maybe it'll offer advice real humans can follow. Only time will tell, but either way, somewhere Gwyneth Paltrow is shaking her head and thinking, "How cute."
