Sir Paul McCartney had a mountain renamed in his honour during his trip to Montana this week (beg04Aug14). The Beatles legend performed a concert at the Washington-Grizzly Stadium in Missoula, Montana on Tuesday (05Aug14), and bosses at the University of Montana teamed with city officials to mark the occasion by changing the name of local landmark Mount Sentinel to Mount McCartney.
The honour lasted for 24 hours and during that time, the large white 'M' visible on the mountain stood for McCartney.
University president Royce C. Engstrom says in a statement, "We are thrilled to have a legend such as Paul McCartney playing in our community."
Elvis Presley's last Cadillac car and a 1975 guitar are among the items going under the hammer at Graceland during the estate's annual Elvis Week. Every year, the rock and roll icon's legacy is celebrated at his former home in Memphis, Tennessee, and as part of the 10-day event, 72 of his personal items will be auctioned off next month (14Aug14).
Among the lots up for sale is a 1976 Cadillac Seville - the last one Presley purchased before his death in 1977 - a 1975 Martin D-28 guitar, a signed library card, the original script for his movie Love Me Tender, a 1969 Las Vegas show agreement, and the gemstone and diamond encrusted lion mask pendant and chain worn by the singer when he met U.S. President Richard Nixon at the White House in 1970.
Third-party collectors will also be auctioning off items, including a Bonhams sale at the Quail Lodge Auction in California on 15 August (14), which will feature Presley's Rolls-Royce Phantom V limousine. The luxury vehicle, which boasts a state-of-the-art radio, air-conditioning and a car phone, is expected to sell for an estimated $300,000 (£176,471).
Comedian Katt Williams has been hit with an assault and battery lawsuit by his tour manager. Lawyer Mark Williams, no relation to Katt, filed documents in Los Angeles on Thursday (17Jul14) claiming his client was left with multiple injuries following an altercation with the funnyman in May (14).
In the papers obtained by TMZ.com, he alleges Williams became furious and hit the complainant with his "diamond rings which served as a brass knuckles weapon... with such force and power that he was rendered unconscious for a period of 90 seconds".
The lawsuit does not give details on where or why the alleged fight occurred, but the lawyer lists concussion, a loose tooth, and unspecified facial and head injuries as a result of the bust-up.

Rapper Tyga's luxury car has been impounded by police after his fiancee, model Blac Chyna, was caught allegedly driving the vehicle without a licence. Cops received complaints about a matte black Rolls Royce Phantom being driven erratically around Malibu, California on Sunday (13Jul14) and when officers pulled the vehicle over, they discovered Kim Kardashian's close friend Chyna did not have a permit to be behind the wheel.
The $300,000 (£176,470) car was seized and towed away and authorities have only agreed to release the Rolls Royce to a licensed driver, according to TMZ.com.

Latin singer Prince Royce scrapped a trio of concerts in Spain over the weekend (04-06Jul14) over a dispute with show promoters. The Corazon Sin Cara (Heart Without a Face) hitmaker had been due to perform in Tenerife on Friday (04Jul14), Madrid on Saturday (05Jul14) and Barcelona on Sunday (06Jul14), but the gigs were axed at late notice.
Royce blamed "the failure of local promoters to meet their obligations", and insisted the situation was "beyond his control".
Latin pop star Prince Royce is set to launch his own record label. The Corazon sin Cara (Heart Without a Face) singer has teamed up with executives at Warner Latin Music to create D'Leon Records and has signed Mexican-born singer Sofia Reyes to the label.
A statement from the 25 year old reads: "I'm excited to be launching D'Leon Records to support other young talent in their development.
"I have been very fortunate to have been able to break through and succeed in this tough industry and this is one of my ways of giving back."
Reyes tells Billboard.com, "This is a new phase in my life and it's a big step. It's an honour that Prince Royce believes in me."
Lady Gaga is parting ways with her red Rolls-Royce Corniche III convertible to benefit the MusiCares charity. The luxury vehicle, in which she travelled to Manhattan's Guggenheim Museum for an event in September, 2012, is to be auctioned off at the upcoming Julien's Auctions Music Icons, Legends and Rebels sale in New York.
The car is expected to fetch between $30,000 (GBP19,000) and $50,000 (GBP31,250) when it goes under the hammer on 17 May (14) at the Hard Rock Cafe auction, where one of Gaga's Philip Treacy hats and a stage worn headpiece are also among the lots.
