Even Kendall Jenner has to admit that the Kardashian name is not always taken seriously. The young model spoke to The Cut and said that she has specifically asked big sister Kim Kardashian to stay away from some of her runway shows. The media circus that comes along with the reality star is not always conducive to a high fashion career.
"I was like, 'You know what? I want to be high fashion. I want to be taken seriously..."
Jenner goes on to say that people assume her family ties made it easy for her career to take off, but the truth is that she had to work hard (even harder than other models, she argues) to get many in the fashion industry to work with her.
Whatever she's doing, it's working. Jenner just covered Love Magazine, and recently became the new face of Givenchy.

Kim Basinger's model daughter Ireland Baldwin is paying tribute to her mum's breakout role in 9 1/2 Weeks in a new ad campaign for clothing brand Rampage. The 18-year-old daughter of Basinger and ex-husband Alec Baldwin is the face of the fashion company's autumn (14) collection, making it her very first solo campaign.
The ads feature the blonde beauty wearing a series of dresses, fitted outerwear and fitted tops, but in one shot, she pays homage to her mum's sultry role in the 1986 erotic drama.
In the photograph, Baldwin recreates Basinger's famous image behind window blinds, sensually posing in the shadows and eating strawberries.
The young model credits her famous mum with encouraging her to pursue a career in front of the camera, telling Access Hollywood, "My mum was the one who kind of told me that modelling can really boost your confidence... Growing up in the spotlight has definitely made me stronger."
Baldwin follows in the footsteps of supermodels Petra Nemcova, Bar Refaeli, Gisele Bundchen and Irina Shayk, who have all been featured in Rampage campaigns.
Kim Kardashian's half-sister Kylie Jenner was slapped with two traffic violations on Monday (14Jul14) after she and a friend were pulled over by police in Los Angeles, reports TMZ.com. The young reality TV star was ticketed for having illegal tinted windows on her G-Wagon and driving with a teenager as a passenger, which is illegal for new 16-year-old drivers in California.
Reality TV star Brody Jenner has admitted his romances with co-stars Lauren Conrad and Kristin Cavallari were fake. Jenner, the son of Olympian Bruce Jenner and stepbrother of Kim Kardashian, shot to fame on hit teen reality series The Hills.
During the show's run, Brody was linked to The Hills' leading ladies Conrad and Cavallari, but he now reveals their relationships were given a romantic angle to make good TV.
He says, "Lauren and I have always been just friends. We worked together on a show called The Hills where we had to pretend like we were dating but we never dated.
"I dated Kristin when we were very young... but during (The Hills) when we filmed, Kristin and I did not date, we were not hooking up."
Jenner's revelations come after another The Hills star, Audrina Patridge, admitted producers would manipulate situations to boost drama.
She said, "In the beginning, a lot of it was real. As it went on, it was very manipulated and guided."

Singer Lana Del Rey has brushed off rumours she scored a big payday when she agreed to perform at Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's pre-wedding party on Friday (23May14), insisting she would never charge friends for her time. Rapper West asked the Summertime Sadness star to stage a surprise set for his bride-to-be at the couple's celebratory dinner at the Palace of Versailles, and the special performance reportedly brought Kardashian to tears.
Reports suggested Del Rey earned at least six figures for the three-song gig, while one article alleged she had pocketed a whopping $2.8 million (£1.75 million) for the show.
However, the singer set the record straight on Wednesday (28May14) as she arrived back in Los Angeles from Europe, telling TMZ.com, "It's not true... I would never let a friend pay me to sing at a wedding."
Del Rey has a special place in the couple's hearts - West hired an orchestra to perform her track Young & Beautiful when he proposed at AT&T Stadium in San Francisco, California on Kardashian's 33rd birthday last year (13).
West and his reality TV star bride tied the knot in Florence, Italy on Saturday (24May14).
Lana Del Rey performed at Kanye West and Kim Kardashian's lavish pre-wedding dinner in France on Friday night (23May14). The singer/songwriter was West's surprise for his bride-to-be, who reportedly started sobbing when Del Rey appeared on a makeshift stage at the bash, held at the historic Palace of Versailles, and performed three songs.

Lana Del Rey has agreed to serenade Kim Kardashian when she marries rapper Kanye West in Europe at the weekend (24-25May14). The hip-hop star hired an orchestra to play the singer's track Young and Beautiful when he proposed to the reality TV star in October (13), and now he is said to have persuaded Del Rey to perform the track in person at their nuptials.
Del Rey has agreed a six-figure sum for the gig, according to Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper. A source tells the publication, "Kanye knew how much Kim loved Lana's music, which is why he tried to get her to perform at the proposal. So he upped the offer to perform at the wedding and told Lana that it's his and Kim's special song and it would mean so much to have her perform it. She couldn't say no."
The wedding is rumoured to be taking place at the historic Fort Belvedere venue in Florence, Italy on Saturday (24May14).
There are plenty of Kanye West videos going around, but this new one might actually change the way you see the Chicago rapper. Yeezy was walking home with fiancé Kim Kardashian and her friend Jonathan Cheban, when he was approached by an up-and-coming rapper asking for Kanye's audience. The result was pretty amazing:
The fact that Kanye actually stops and listens to the young man — and encourages him — certainly works against the image of the pompous, self-proclaimed genius that sometimes overshadows his work. Not a lot of celebrities really stop and give their fans the time of day, so this video suggests that Kanye really does care, and probably even sees a bit of himself in struggling artists. He may be Yeezus now, but there was a time when he couldn't get a record deal either. Kudos to gim for making someone's dream come true.

Kanye West gave an aspiring rapper the once-in-a-lifetime chance to perform for him on the streets of New York City. The Stronger hitmaker was walking home with his fiancee Kim Kardashian in Manhattan's SoHo neighbourhood, when a young man approached him to ask if he could demonstrate his hip-hop skills.
In video footage acquired by TMZ.com, the aspiring rapper told West that he had actually performed for him in the past, but the Grammy winner brushed him off and was not impressed with his impromptu set. The rejection only fueled the MC to work harder and perfect his rhymes.
West allowed the young hopeful to rap while they were walking to their apartment, and when they reached the doors, West decided to stay behind to listen to the man finish his verse.
When he was done, West smiled and said, "It sounded good man. But I'm gonna get some sleep."
The two shook hands and West joined his fiancee inside.
