TV hosting is about to get a little funnier. It was announced today that Jenny McCarthy will bring her over-the-top, bubbly personality and comedic humor to VH1 with a new series called The Jenny McCarthy Show. So what will set this show apart from all others, you may ask? Well for one, it's Jenny McCarthy and she always brings a little extra substance to everything she does. But additionally the show will range in a variety of entertainment topics that we all love, including pop culture, news, fashion, TV, movies and the web. The series -- which will also feature guest panelists and celebrity interviews -- is scheduled to premiere on VH1 in the summer/fall of 2012. But before you make any hasty decisions on whether to tune in or not, here are a few things to think about that might help peak your interest.
Jenny McCarthy Excels at Pretty Much Everything
Whether you're a huge celebrity buff or not, you've certainly heard of Jenny McCarthy at some point in your life. I mean, she's pretty much done it all. Not only is she a well-known actress (known well for her roles in Two and a Half Men, Just Shoot Me, and The Drew Carey Show), but she's also an accomplished author of not one, but seven New York Times best-sellers. And if that's not enough, she even helped host Dick Clarke's New Year's Rockin Eve party in Times Square for the past two years. In other words, she's had a successful career in a variety of entertainment realms. There's no reason to think her TV show won't turn out the same way. Controversial Topics Abound
Let's face it: a lot of talk shows today conform to a basic format that vary delves too deep into controversial topics for fear of media backlash. But being the outspoken person she is, The Jenny McCarthy Show is sure to be anything but sterile. McCarthy's never been afraid to ruffle some feathers when she has to. In fact, she's even a known activist after her son was diagnosed with autism in 2005, so you know she's going to freely speak about whatever topic is on her mind. She's got the spunk and gumption to hold an audience's interest and help initiate dialogue over the most controversial topics. McCarthy Appeals to Both Genders
VH1 knows an attractive woman when they see one and Jenny definitely fits the bill. She was a former model and even started posing for Playboy back in 1993, which means there's always the chance that some of her model friends could end up making a guest appearance on her show. Do I have your attention yet, gentlemen? But she doesn't appeal strictly to the male demographic. She's got a great sense of fashion, so I know I'm going to be especially interested to hear her thoughts on red carpet trends and couture-related topics. You can't go wrong with this woman! Melissa McCarthy Will Un-Doubtedly Make a Guest Appearance
In this business it's all about who you know and McCarthy happens to know one pretty popular person these days: Melissa McCarthy. If their mutual last name didn't tip you off, you should know that these two are related (cousins!), so there's a pretty good chance Melissa will stop by as a way to support her cousin's show. And any program that pairs the two hilarious McCarthy's is definitely worth watching.
